Tampopo @ Takashimaya Shopping Centre

We are back at Tampopo again. But since it's October, the 'sale' is over! If only they extended their promotion!

We were initially thinking of getting something quick at the new and nicer looking Takashimaya Food Court. As usual, that place is so packed! After waiting around for 15 minutes and with so many other people standing all over the food court like bodyguards of diners from different table, we decided to go somewhere else.

Tampopo was suggested and off we went. 6 of us with almost different tastebuds got our seats quite quickly.

*** Salmon Sashimi ***

Tampopo

Pretty little thingy that looks like a flower. Wasabi is not potent at all though.

*** Beef Udon Soup ***

Our cousin orders this wherever she goes! Well, she likes it and the sashimi is 'technically' for her, since she is the one who wallops it all. :-)

*** Black Pig Shabu Ramen ***

I had the Black Pig Shabu Ramen. $14.30 It says on the menu, is No. 1 Ramen in Singapore. Hmm.. Who voted it? :-p

Tampopo

They had a double portion of meat version, so I took that. I love my pork! The double portion is only a dollar more!

*** Hakodate Rich Shoyu ***

Uncle had the Hakodate Rich Shoyu ($14.80) that was made from pork bone and seafood soup.
We had a sip of the soup and it's quite nice.

*** Deluxe Hakodate Ramen ***

Sis and Momo wanted to have it all. They had the 'deluxe' version of the Hakodate Ramen. ($16.30)
It has everything! Pork, Corn, Egg, Seaweed and even an extra dollop of butter.

Tampopo

Momo's egg. She said, take a photo of it! haha....
People who love runny egg yolks will love it!

yummy egg

*** Teriyaki chicken ***

Aunt who don't like to eat pork and did not want to have noodles, had a Teriyaki Chicken and a bowl of rice.

Sushi Tei @ Paragon, Orchard Road

Most of my food posts are those eaten with friends / family. With more people you can order more varieties and taste all of them. But I know there are many people who are lone diners. This is one of the lone diner meals that is quite enjoyable and not that expensive too.

Another reason I came here was it was the last few days of September and if you are a sushi tei card member like me, you get 20% off. I just have to use it at least once for the discount since I paid for the card! LOL.

I tried the Tan Tan Don with Onsen Tamago. ($8)

Tan Tan Don with Onsen Tamago

It's spicy minced szechuan style over rice. (Something like 'dan dan mian')
It has a soft boiled egg on top. I like it because it is quick and tasty.

For those who have a bigger appetite, you can get a hand roll of something.
This is the soft shell crab handroll.

Just a suggestion idea for lone diners out there. I used to be a lone diner always thinking where to eat. Eating in food centres is warm sometimes. Food courts, you need to 'chope' seats, but being a lone diner, you worry about your stuff. So I walked into restaurants.

But most of the time, you don't want to spend too much, many Japanese places serves 'free' tea like this one. :-)

CZ'ZAR Restaurant @ Great World City

We hesitated. Should we try it? Is that the way to spell zhi char? We walked away.

10 steps later, we turned around and decided to try it. We were very hungry and thought we should just try it. We did not regret coming here. The place is modern and it's quite comfortable inside. It's a modern contemporary version of a zhi char stall.

*** braised peanuts ***

Do you all return the appetizers to restaurants? We do, especially if it's mixed nuts that have combination that we do not like. Soft braised peanuts are something we don't 'return' to the restaurants.

*** Soup of the Day ***

We ordered the soup of the day and it was the different root vegetables soup. Pork Ribs with 'bai luo bo' (daikon), 'hong luo bo' (carrots), 'jing luo bo' (green radish) and another type of 'luo bo' which I forgot as it was in the pot of soup.

This soup is suppose to be very good in bringing down the 'heat' in our bodies. It was very nice tasting too!

*** Four Season Beans ***

We really liked this dish! It was so addictive and we were nibbling on it non stop. It's not too oily and we love the fine chopped up mix of garlic, mushrooms, mince meat and salted fish. It went so well with the fluffy hot rice we had!

*** Claypot fish head ***

The claypot fish head was a delight as well! There were chunks of roasted pork that gave it a nice fragrance. The fish head was deep fried and then braised in the claypot. There were lots of leek and enoki and shitake mushrooms too!

We enjoyed this dish! We were quite surprised it was so big. We only had 3 person eating! We wallop it all anyway :-)

*** Pork Rib ***

This was a recommendation from the service staff. I forgot the name exactly, but it was province somewhere in China pork ribs.

The ribs were soft and easily falls off the bone when you nudge it with your chopsticks. If you like saucy sweetish and salty ribs, order this!

It's quite a nice place for zhi char food that's quite good from the dishes we tried so far.
