The yahoo messenger in our office all "blinked".
This was exactly what appeared: "Tapow Colleague (12/1/2010 10:13:17 AM): tpy lor 1 hkm?"
The colleague who share the same room as me turn to me and asked, "What's that?"
Since it's from this colleague who will go everywhere to search for the best food, we figured it must be food related.
Aha! Toa Payoh Lorong 1 Hokkien Mee.
We replied: "Yes"
Tapow Colleague: big or small
We replied: "Small".
Around 2 hour later, Tapow Colleague arrived to work for his PM shift.
He brought the food to the office pantry and we all ate there.
3 on the pack stands for $3 ie small.
When we opened it, the whole room was overwhelmed with the smell of the Hokkien Mee!
Some other people walked in and asked, it smells so wonderful, where did you all get it from?
Tapow from Toa Payoh! Their hearts sank. Too far away for them to get some to eat now!
After squeezing the calamansi lime and stiring in the chilli, this is it.
Some say it's awesomeness. LOL...
The $3 pack had 2 prawns.
Sigh. We regretted only ordering the small pack. We should have ordered the large pack!
Thanks to Tapow Colleague for bringing us lunch!

Muffins from Bliss Haven, Toa Payoh Lorong 1
Last Friday, to satisfy one colleague's craving for 'shao la' (Roast Meat), he 'die die' want to go to Toa Payoh to eat. Those pictures later.
But another colleague who used to be Toa Payoh resident until recently, went to 'tapow' back these muffins. I would have to ask where the exact location, but it's somewhere near HDB Hub, where we ate.
They are actually quite nice.... Can you see the oreos chunks? They are big and fluffy!
Close up of the chocolate chip one that I ate.
This stall it seems have an interesting history. It's located at a Cze Char store called Bliss Heaven, but instead of having Cze Char, it is selling muffins now.
Muffins of 6 diff flavours cost $1 each.
Found this link if you want to read more about this stall.
Talk about muffins, do you have a muffin? It seems when people call you muffin, it means you have a tummy that is overflowing from your pants, just like the muffin above! hahaha....

Crabs @ Mellben Seafood : Toa Payoh
Last night, a group of friends went to Toa Payoh to have dinner. The sms that came a few days ago was "anyone for crabs?". Thanks to the organisers, we all got there and ate crabs.
(pssst the reason I am so 'gian' on going was that I heard that people says Mellben is good, aha! that means can take photos! haha...)
Mellben Seafood, Block 211 Lor 8 Toa Payoh.
We actually called up to book earlier, but was told it's fully booked, but if you try walking in, you might get a seat.
So, some people went there earlier, they got a seat. And very quickly too. We sms them in the car, quick order, so when we reach, we can start eating! LOL... So many people...
While waiting for food, walk around and take photos lor.
These are all the crabs in the glass container.
This sign is hilarious, just outside the "crab tank".
Then after a while, a whole new consignment of crabs came.
No, we did not order the whole crate of crabs for ourselves, the lady is just checking the weight so that she can sign off the invoice from the supplier.
Vain pot crab, posing at the camera!
After chatting.... and waiting.... the food arrived.
This is steamed crabs.
This is the Shimmering Sand Crab. Their "zhao pai" dish.
The leftover.... What a workout!
Did not post pictures of other things we ate lah....
So so lah. Pssst, a few of us were expecting hot and spicy chilli and pepper crabs. haha..
But our organisers, prefer lighter tastings one. :-p
