Yesterday, colleagues and I went to PGP Residences food court for lunch. The last time we came here was probably in 2008. We noticed that many of the food stalls have changed.
Lunch was so so, but we thought that this dessert stall was a mini highlight of the lunch. It sells only desserts.
Our colleague, "Mrs Jiao Sou Fu Ren" ate very little and we asked her if she is on a diet? She said no... She is having a small lunch because the desserts stall has caught her eye.
So while we were finishing up lunch, she came back with things to let us try. Yam and Sago. $1.20 We tasted it and though hey, it's not bad.
But what got us interested was the other dessert that she was having. It was called Vietnamese Ice Kachang. $1.80
You know the 'three colour' or 'four colour' dessert (not sure of the name, but in Melbourne previously, I remember we order it by calling it 3 or 4 colour), it is usually very fakingly bright and colourful. But this 'natural colouring' dessert looked kinda pale.
We noticed Mrs JSFR was enjoying her drink/dessert and we asked her if she thinks the rest of us will like it. She said "Yes!". So off I went to queue up and bought 3 more cups of it.
The cup is actually quite big and it is quite filling! The lady put in about 5 or 6 tablespoons of red beans in it, top it up with corn custard and then chendol. After that she added a layer of ice and then covered it with coconut milk.
After stirring it, we enjoyed it. We realised why we liked it. The coconut milk is not plain old coconut milk. She scooped it from another dessert that she's selling. It was a banana dessert that has coconut milk sauce on it. Ah...
We were so so full. Maybe the next time we are here, we shall have a mini portion of lunch and enjoy the desserts. (and maybe try other things that she sells)
OMO [One (wo)Man Operation] so it might be a bit slow. Patience needed. :-)

Mixed Rice @ K Gourmet Cafe, PGP
Colleagues and I went to the K Gourmet Cafe at the NUS PGP Residences for lunch. It seems they now have a bain marie that serves "mixed rice".
A few of us had the 'mixed rice' while others ordered the 'zhi char' noodles.
This is my mixed rice for today. 1 Meat, 1 Tofu and 1 Egg dish. The portions are quite big! $3 for lunch today.
Those who ordered the 'zhi char' thingy, their lunch had not arrived after the 'mixed rice' people finished their lunch. LOL.
So, I had "Last Man Standing" $2. Yummy.
Have a good weekend!

Anjappar Indian Express @ FoodgleHub PGP, NUS
No, it's not Friday yet, but we had some Indian food. Colleagues and I, decided to just head down to PGP to try some other food. Everyone ate different food, but another colleague and I decide to just try out this Indian stall and see how it is.
OK it comes in compartmental plastic containers like this. This is a set meal that cost $4.50
You have 2 meats, 2 veg, 1 dessert, 1 rice, 1 naan, 1 papadam.
The taste is not too bad actually. Compared to some other, this is the chicken drumlets.
The long beans and other mix veg mix.
The chicken curry.
Whenever you see this, you think of super sweet indian desserts right?
We took one mouth, hey, it's not that sweet. We finished it. hehe..
Boleh tahan lah. I actually quite like the long grain super skinny rice. Yummy.
It seems that food places at this Foodgle Hub are "express" outlets of well known food outlets. Wonder if anyone knows this is the same as the Anjappar Authentic Chenttinaad Restaurant in Racecourse Road?

Super Snacks @ PGP Residences, NUS
Colleagues and I, we were a bit adventurous one day, and decide to roam around the PGP Residences after lunch.
Ah, we saw this eye catching sign, and it magnetically suck us near to it. We were peering into the windows. You know those one way mirror kind of thing, it was brighter outside, so we can't really see inside.
It was drizzling too, so 'ok lah, let's go in' mood kicked in. It's a very cosy place. Soft music, soft lighting, it's air conditioned and it smells of waffles!
We ordered one to share. See the machine that is flipped up, that was where our waffles were coming from in a while.
Not too bad, the waffles was good, but we think the ice cream is not creamy enough. hehe.. Or maybe its the flavour that we chose. (choc chip cookies)
Quite affordable. I can't really remember the price but it was less than a green note. ;-) Will update it when I find the receipt. Update: Plain Waffle was $1.20, the ice cream is $1.
Nice play to 'chit chat'.

K Gourmet Cafe @ PGP Residences, NUS
A few days ago, a bunch of colleagues were out of office attending talks at a hotel. Then two more had to attend meetings. There was only 3 of us left.
We decided to just go nearby. Hop on a bus and got to PGP. We thought we will try this air conditioned place. It's called K Gourmet Cafe.
Two colleagues ordered soup, this is the pumpkin soup. Not sure how it tasted.
One colleague ordered the Fried Rice with Fried Chicken.
The other ordered Fish and Chips. Looks quite ok.
For me, I had the set meal of the day. It was Fish day and this is the "tau chu" or fermented beans sauce fish. OK lah.
I think what we enjoyed was the long time we had chatting and this ice cream. This ice cream cost only $2!
Remember to eat healthy for the coming week! It will be calorie laden food in the coming weeks! LOL.

Vietnamese Hot Pot @ NUS PGP
2 days ago, we thought we wanted to try out other food that is available at the PGP food place. A colleague saw some people ordered the mini hot pot with big flames the other time, so she is back to order this.

She liked it. I tried a bit, not too bad too. But food's on the pricier side at PGP compared to the rest of NUS. This was $5.30
(We think only the hotpot is nice at the Viet stall, others err...)

Astons Express @ Prince George's Park, NUS
A few days ago, a colleague was telling us: Hey! Astons has opened in PGP. Let's go, let's go. It's Friday, last week we said we gonna make it Indian Food Fridays, but the two pro-Indian food person's on leave, the two anti-Indian food also on leave. We have only 3 neutral food person.
So today, we went over to PGP to have lunch. We abandon all of them!
There were the sets, where u pick a meat, and two sides.
Prime Rib Eye, House Salad, Baked Potato $11.70

Prime Sirloin, House Salad, Garden Veggie $9.70

This is the side dish that coincidently all 3 of us had. haha...
Honey Bourbon Ribs, House Salad, Mashed Potato $12.30
I think there's a tad too much sauce over it yah?

Not bad. We liked our food. The prices are cheaper and also the portions. You wont get the super bloated feel.
Click here for our pictures of food we had at Astons Specialties some time ago.
This stall in PGP has just opened about a week or so. I guess they have arrived in the Western part of Singapore.
