One of our colleague had an urge for a gooey starchy lunch. To satisfy his craving, he suggested we have Lor Mee. So off we went on a short bus ride along the AYE to Clementi. Blk 431 Clementi Ave 3 is along the AYE. ;-)
Today's wait for the Lor Mee's quite long. There was 2 or 3 long tables of people all waiting to eat Lor Mee! Is it eat Lor Mee day today?
So around maybe 15 bowls later, it was our turn. We were looking at the lady carrying the bowls and wondering if it will come to our table! LOL.
I love that liquidy garlic thingy! Makes my mouth stink though after the meal.
For those who loves vinegar, pour as much as you want. I always like the fried stuff they have for this dish, not forgetting the braised pork pieces inside.
As usual I have my Kuey Teow.
The person who had the urge had the yellow noodle with bee hoon combi.
$2.50 each for the normal size serving.

Sheng Yi Fa Lor Mee @ 431 Clementi Ave 3
Colleagues were lamenting that the Lor Mee at Clementi Block 328 have moved away. (the one that beside the famous Claypot Rice).
Lo and behold! A meal at Block 431 at Clementi Ave 3 spotted a familiar aunty's face. Hey, that's the lor mee lady right?? You could have seen the bright spark at dpuk's face! It is as if he found a long lost relative!
It was the consistency of the thick goeey gravy that draws many to eat this. My sis hates gooey stuff, so if you are like my sis, you will hate it. LOL
This is 'pirate's' bowl of lor mee. All the ingredients are hidden below. I find photographing lor mee the hardest! A bowl of dark gooey stuff!
So while he was going to take a bite, I quickly sneak a photo of it. Pirate says the not very nice. He has higher standards.
Dpuk's bowl with kuey teow. Both ordered the $2.50 version.
Almond jelly also had a bowl. Both Almond Jelly and Dpuk said since they moved here, it seems the ingredients in it has kind of returned to the pre-oil-induced-inflation standard. It is tastier and satisfying now.
I will come back and eat it another day. I was eating something else :-)
Posting this so that people who was wondering where the stall moved to, knows where it is now.

Lor Mee @ Clementi Block 328
Another Lor Mee place that colleagues love to go is the one at Block 328 Clementi. Where is Block 328? Just cross the road opposite the NTUC Fairprice junction. Climb up the steps and the Kopitiam is there. (If you drive, enter via Clementi Ave 2)
There are lor mee that you love it the first time you have it and this happens to be one of them. I think its consistency of the dark gravy and the ingredients.
The bee hoon mee combi. Haha.. Yes, you can guess this is not mine. Mine's kuey teow. LOL.
We notice something though, we haven eaten here umpteen times, but this is the first for 2008, and we can detect some differences. Prices are still the same, but it seems sometimes are missing. LOL. Enuff said, we did not confirm with the seller, but 4 who ate it think so.
But what to do? Inflation hits all time high!
Do you think things have gotten expensive nowdays?
Update: This stall has moved away. We recently found it and it's now at Clementi Ave 3.

Shi Ji Noodle Stall @ Seah Im Food Centre
Few days ago, a colleague was bugging us to go to Seah Im. He wants to have Lor Mee. We resisted for a few days, but we relented after a few days. haha...
Our food guy die die want to eat from this stall. Shi Ji Noodle Stall.
All from the above stall, this is the Duck Noodle.
This is the Lor Mee.
I ate this instead, Tomyam Kuey Teow. It's actually quite nice! Spicy enough and totally shiok!
One thing about Seah Im is that it is super super hot! I think the fans there should not be made to point at humans. The air from the fans are super hot! Sit away from blowing fans! That's a big tip!
