Tung Lok Seafood @ East Coast Parkway (Part II)

Sorry for the late post, backdating it. (hehe..)

Are you a fan or lor pok gao? Well, I did not get to eat it! Hmmm it's ok, we were too busy eating so many other things! The lazy susan does get to rotate a full round, and the food's gone. So, each half the table only eats the food in front of them! haha...

This I got to try. It was at my side of the table.
Looks a tiny bit oily, but it was very crispy! Imagine the super crispy bite now, "kounk kounk" at then the warm moist filling in your mouth. It was quite divine! haha... We ordered a few more plates of it, after the crackling sound made the other side of the table so tempted! LOL.

This is another of the crispy stuff. Nice and crispy on the outside, moist and juice prawns inside!

This was the 2nd round ordering, after all the food was gone. We wondered if we tasted all 20 over of the dishes. Then suddenly someone said he liked the sambal sotong. Then our side of the table asked, what sambal sotong? We totally missed it over this side, so we placed order for 3 plates. LOL. We did not regret putting these just nice, not rubbery sotong in our mouth.

Our second order of 'fried calamari'. This is very addictive! Super! After deep frying, the added the addictive spicy stuff over it! haha...

The first round of these dumplings had people at the other side of the 12 person table, so this side of the table also wanted to try it.

Some like the prawn paste chicken wings, so more was ordered. It taste quite nice with the sweetish chilli sauce that came with it.

I ate lots of these! Steam Pork Ribs. It did not have much 'bones' for the 'ribs' haha... But it was quite nice. I have this bad habit of liking to drink up the so called soup. :-O

Yes, there are vegetables, we had a few orders of the sambal kangkung and also the other vegetable that I suddenly forgot! Getting your tongue spiced up always makes us happy!

We ordered all the desserts on the menu to share too.
We had guilin gao, ice cream puffs and this is the 'tang yuan'. This tangyuan is the dry version with peanut powder. It's actually quite nice! A colleague had like 6 of them!

Let me end this makan trip with a sweet ending.
Red Bean Soup. No, we did not sell our birthright for this bowl of soup. :-)

Yesterday's post had someone asking how much it costed the boss?
We has 12 person and the total bill was $300 with $2 change. :-P

Tung Lok Seafood @ East Coast Parkway

Today, the boss treated us lunch. What's the occasion? It was to welcome a new colleague that joined us last week. Since the boss was treating, we were 'tasked' to choose a few places to go.

Do we want to 'ketuk' him? haha.. We remembered we had him treat us lunch at Club Chinois when he got a Public Service Award some years ago. haha.. That cost him a bomb! (ey, you all don't say eee..., these people, take advantage only... don't tell me it did not cross your mind if your boss is treating you all. haha.. )

Anyway, we were kind and chose a reasonably priced place. We wanted to have Dim Sum Buffet. So, a colleague made the arrangements and book a table for 12 @ Tung Lok Seafood at East Coast Parkway.

Here's what we ate.

Brain food! Walnuts always taste good right? Toasted, coated with caramel and sesame seeds. How can some high in anti oxidant taste so good? LOL...

OK. Since we had so many of us, we practically ordered everything in the menu! The first thing that arrived on our tables were the Century Egg Porridge. We love porridge. Nice warm porridge warmed our hearts and also appetite.

Next came a few plates of Chee Cheong Fun. We had the succulent prawns version and the fragrant char siu version. Which is your favourite?

Such beauties aren't they? Hand crafted, almost translucent skin, freshly steamed, whole prawns just waiting for your mouth to savour it.

When was the last time you had braised duck wings? For many of us, too long ago. Soft and tender soy sauce chicken, roasted char siew and roast duck. We loved it, and had a second order later.

If you have been following our food diary, you know these bunch of nut cases loves chicken feet, or shall we put it in a more gourmet term, Steamed Phoenix Claws. Guess how many steamers of phoenix claws we had? We counted, 14! Hey, the collagen will you flawless attractive skin ok? If they could speak, they will tell you, 'don't look me no up'.

If you saw the egg tarts a few days ago and thought hey, I want it the way it should be. They have it here. Mini versions, or bite size as it is the term people use nowadays. One bite is definitely not enough.

This was mid way... interested in more photos of the food we had?

It's always fun to go eat in big groups, you get to taste a bit of everything.
More photos tomorrow....

The address etc is all on the box for your reference.

Slowly opening the box. Can guess?

Ku Chai Kueh!

Not everyone likes Ku Chai right? But they are delicious.

This is taken from colleague's hand. He took a bite of it.

I did not eat it because after so much food, I can't stuff anything in. But colleagues could! Super stretch stomachs they have.

You like Ku Chai kueh?

Tau Kua Pau @ East Coast Road

There is sort of a war between the Tau Kua Pau at East Coast Road. Guess what, they are so so near each other too. After lunch at Aston's. Our colleagues who are East Coast kakis went around to buy more food to tapow back to office.

He said that he has been eating from the real original one since he was young. So he bought it from the original shop like he always did. When he was younger the shop was not in the current shop, it was a few doors away, now it is at Hock Ann Eating House, 131 East Coast Rd.

Tapowed the Tau Kua Paus back in boxes of threes.

This is with the duck sauce poured over. I think it will be even more tempting if the chilli sauce is poured over. Too late lah, ate it up without taking anymore photos! hehe..

Something though was missing, they don't come with duck meat anymore!

If you are interested, read about the comparison between the two from Singapore's makan guru at Makansutra.

Another colleague ordered the Rib Eye. Just see for yourself. Tempted? (unless you are a vegetarian)

Two other colleagues ordered Rib Eye ExtraCut. So there's 2 different photos here.

Yes, these colleagues are vampires. They love blood. This shot will please you bloodsuckers. haha...

This is the Cream of Mushroom. It's good, you got to try it. Thick and creamy and very mushroomy was what they told me.

The non red meat eaters ordered this. Grill Fish with Herb.

Another ordered the Black Pepper Chicken. The guy who ordered this is afraid of blood.

This is what yours truly ordered. I love ribs and yes it is good......
Honey Bourbon Ribs.

Another colleague who wanted the best of both worlds. Chicken and Sausage Combo.

It was a very satisfying lunch!
