Colleagues and I have been extremely busy these few weeks. There have been so many issues at work. Some are having endless meetings. Some are planning the 'big move'. Some are settling the 'exam related matters'. The list goes on...

In times of great stress, it's therapeutic just take a short bus ride out for lunch. It's a good time for some to vent out their frustrations where the audience can't run away but listen. :-p

Our short bus ride this time was to Holland Drive Food Centre. It has been years since we came here. It's still as crowded as ever!  I was 'choping' seats while the rest to get their food. The first person to came back with this!

Braised Pig Trotters from Blanco Court Kway Chap. Looks good eh? 
(for those of you who hates fats or pork, this looks utterly grotesque. haha)

He had his delicious soft braised trotters with rice.





As I walked around, there were queues everywhere and I did not want to queue up so long for food. But this once very popular Blanco Court Kway Chap (that colleague bought his food from) has no queue! So I walked towards it and ordered my lunch.

I told the uncle, a mix of everything but no innards please. I just want plain food today.
So he gave me a mix of lean meat, tau pok, tau kwa and braised egg.




I love the way he scoop up the kway chap. He was like fishing thin pieces of kway chap from a huge container. When he scoops it out of the container, it looks so so silky and smooth. It's also so so thin and translucent. Then he pours the braised gravy over it, then suddenly everything becomes black. LOL

I like the kway chap. I think I enjoy eating plain kway chap with the gravy more than the meat and other stuff. ;-p

Vegetarian Food @ Holland Drive Food Centre

We wanted to go to Holland Village to collect my 'just renewed' Sushi Tei card, but there was no parking. So Momo and I decided to just forget about eating there. We went to Holland Drive Food Centre instead.

To have the ultra cheap $2 meal.
Sorry, the first photo is blurry, it focused on the man at the side instead! I took only 1 photo. haha..



These are the two plates we ordered. It is one of the most filling meal you can have for $2.
Don't think it is healthy though. But the crispy 'roast goose' (tofu / beancurd skin) sure is delicious.

If you are wondering, this is mock vegetarian food, the crispy tofu skin is suppose to represent "sao er" (roast goose). Does it look like it at all? LOL...



I don't fancy mock 'cha shao' (bbq meat). I prefer the real thing. Anyone knows what the brown pieces is suppose to represent? :-)



The thing I like are actually the cabbage, pickled green chilli and crispy tofu skin. They give a lot of bee hoon, so it is super filling.

Noticed that they have gone back to using washable plates instead of disposable Styrofoam plates. Looks like they are turning greenie too.

Vegetarian @ Holland Drive Food Centre

This is one popular stall in the Holland Drive Food Centre. There is always a snaking queue. Actually it is really interesting in this Food Centre. There's a long queue at both the Vegetarian stall and also the Roast Meat queue. One meat camp, the other anti-meat. haha..

Anyway, this vegetarian shop is really cheap. Used to be $1.50, but nowdays it is $2. Still quite cheap for its generous portions.

We were wondering what to eat for lunch, and we boarded bus 95 and ended up at the Holland Drive Food Center.

A few of us ate at the different stalls, and one colleague decided to eat at this stall. Blanco Court. It has some Live Eats! write up as well.



I stood there and the lady in the picture says what do you want? I said as long as not the intestines etc. haha... So she mixed up things for me.

Colleague ordered the pig trotter.



This is what I ate. Egg, Tofu, Tao Pok, Meat and Kiam Chai.



Both of us chose rice instead of kway chap.



There was someone who left a comment and said he/she was sick of NUS food, come here :-)
Holland Drive food centre has some nice food.

I like vegetables, but not mock meat that's called vegetarian. But this stall in Holland Drive Market / Food Centre is very popular. The queue is always very long. We managed to get there just before the main crowd comes.

This is a huge plate of food, which costs only $2. It used to cost only $1.50!!!
What you see that looks like meat, no no, they are mock meat!



This is colleague's plate. I think we ordered one each. 4-5 plates of the same thing.
I like the top part, the crispy fried tofu skin. Colleage said that suppose to be mock duck! huh? How can it be duck? hahaha...



It taste quite real actually. But to me, real real veg and real real meat is much better. No fakes. LOL....
