Eating @ Blk 124 Alexandra Village

This was lunch a few days ago with colleagues. One colleague wanted to eat the "No-name long queue fish soup". We expected the long queue, but 3 of us decided we shall not queue. So, 'almond jelly' ordered Ipoh Horfun and was already eating, it was instant!

I decided not to queue as well, and ordered Hor Fun too, but the zhi-char style from KEK Seafood. Yup, number 1 on this photo.

It arrives and what's the what's next?

One thing about Zhi-Char horfun that I like to do is the stirring and mixing!
You got to separate all the hor-fun that's sticking together, making sure every strand of it is coated with sauce. yum yum..

'Old Cat' that was queuing for like 15 minutes (and still not reaching the mid point) saw what I ate and decided to abandon the queue and ordered something similar, he had the bee hoon version instead.

'Dpuk' and 'Wire', the two who patiently queue had their rewards.
The ever popular long queue fish soup. The fried fish version.

And this the sliced fish version.

All the above in the same 'coffee shop' at:

Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Alexandra Village

Yesterday, our colleague 'pirate', IM a few of us, asking if we want to go to KEK? Another colleague 'old cat' wanted to go to Ikea to buy something. We could all have lunch at Alexandra Village first before walking over to Ikea. Sure!

On the way there, a colleague 'almond jelly' said she wanted to eat the 'platter thingy' that was posted here before. So when we came, while wondering what to eat, we saw that there's a set menu for 4-6 persons for $78. We just decided to order it.

So.... in the set menu there was:

The Platter of Three. The name in Chinese sounds better, it was Golden (Huang Jin) Platter of 3. They are all quite yummy. The portion's also quite big for the 5 of us.

It had Golden Pork Ribs as well. "Got standard" lah. Not superbly good or bad. ;-)

The set menu is suppose to serve Chinese Spinach with Ikan Bilis. No one really wanted that, and they said we could change to another veg dish if we want. So we opted for Sambal Kangkong. Spicy!

This is the Steamed Seabass with Brown Bean Sauce. Can't really take photo of fish. I seldom take nice photo of them!

The fish was fresh and nice. The brown bean sauce is also full of 'lard pieces'. Is that why it was so fragrant and delicious?

The set meal ends with a dessert that was Almond Jelly with Longan.

Since we were here, we thought we should not miss out on their famous kway teow.
So, we ordered a plate of it as well. Yes, it's the famous raw egg that goes on top of kway teow :-) Yup... with the wok hei, lard pieces, etc...

Heart clogging, but happy lunch. ;-) Too much food actually, should have omitted the Kway Teow, but we were glad we ordered it.

(This is one of the stalls that appeared on the Straits Times last week or week before.)

Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Alexandra Village (Series 2)

Our cousin from UK came over, so we went to this place to try out the other food here. It's the Kek Eng Kee Seafood place again, but this time we sat at the aircon place.

The 'cold plate'. It is quite interesting, the combi for this one. Starting from the right is the spicy squid. It's not the normal reddish jap kind. But dark soyish colour. There's meat balls made from diff combi of meat, in the middle, eggs with taugeh, and behind deep fried tauhu pok.

This is how the tau hoo pok looks close up. There's veg, ham, fake crab etc, all inside a piece of big big tau pok and deep fried with batter.

The scary fish yesterday. The scarier it is, the tastier it is? hahaha...

This is actually dark san lou hor fun. Usually it is whitish right? This one is dark and comes with 2 raw eggs on top. You mix it up, it taste so so good.

Guess what other things we ate? :-P

This is braised sea cucumber and duck. Delicacy!

Veg with fried ikan bilis on top. Just look at it!

If you like 'tua tow', look at this generous serving!

For this price, it's absolute a delight!
Guess what! It seems that if you have an OCBC card, you get 10% off! (coffee shop leh!)

What shall I eat next?

Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Alexandra Village (Part 2)

Many people who come here order the Hor Fun. Just peep around the tables. haha.. It's actually quite good. It has the burnt wok taste, just a hint to make it smells and taste so good.

This is sambal cuttlefish and kangkong. Delicious oh...

This is one of the 'signboard' dishes (jiao pai cai). It's Marmite Chicken. Kids love this! So do I!

If you are a pork lover, try their sweeet and sour pork. I think I still prefer Marmite Chicken :-p

Well, we have 4 more dishes, wait till you see the price tomorrow, am sure you will dash there!

Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Alexandra Village

Sunday night, our family decided to eat here. It's at Alexandra Village. For half of us, its the first time here, looks like we might be coming back!

It's at Block 124, Bukit Merah Lane 1. It's actually a coffee shop. But the zhi char here is the main thing at night. It also has an aircon section in the next block.

As usual, we have to wait for the food. :-) And people are chatting and playing with their mobiles.

Those who are thirsty will be drinking first. This is my barley drink.

Wait till tomorrow then see food pictures ok? haha...
