For years, we passed by Casa Roma along Bukit Timah Road and said to ourselves, we shall find an occasion to eat there one day. never thought of trying the food there. We always thought there would be an occasion that we can find to go there.
The day finally arrived! We went there to celebrate a little girl's birthday.
A booking was placed for 8 on a Sunday night. This place looks quite filled up on the night we dined there. So if you are coming here, I think it's best to call for a reservation.
We started by ordering Calamari Fritti. (Fried Calamaries).
We liked it. It was simple yet tasty. (except for a few pieces that was a bit 'stubborn and tough'. :-P)
The tomato based dip was nice with the calamari.
This was the kid's meal pizza. The kid can choose their own topping and comes with a drink and dessert. The topping here was mushroom and ham. Most kids love mushroom and ham eh?
I had the Linguine al cartoccio. I was a bit shocked when my food came in foil! I thought it was a wrong order. But it looked rather special doesn't it?
When it's opened up, you have spaghetti in light spicy tomato sauce with scallops, squid, mussel and prawns. I thought it was absolutely delectable! I love tomato based sauces, so I might be a bit bias.
My sis who does not like tomato based sauces said it was "ok lah". Since it's ok for someone who do not like tomato based stuff, it should be great for most people! ;-)
This was something similar to the dish above. This was Spaghetti ai frutti di mare - Spaghetti cooked with prawns, mussels, squid and fresh tomato instead of tomato based sauce. Looks good too eh?
Sis had the Spaghetti alle vongole. I tried some of it and think it enjoyable too. You can see they are generous with the vongole.
Sis added that if they add in some fresh cut chilli, it would make it a tad spicy, the way she liked it. (but would it still be Italian?)
This place is known for their pizza. So this is one pizza order.
I think this was the Quattro Stagioni (Artichoke, salami, mushroom, olives and mozzarella.)
The crust is thin and crispy and with the toppings, we all find it gratifying.
This was the Risotto alla pescatora.
We think this was like my linguine. Instead of linguine, it's risotto.
Yup, everyone has different taste, this is for risotto lovers.
This was the most different from all the pasta we ordered. This was the Conchiglie con pollo e pomodorini secchi. (Shell pasta with sundried tomato & chicken in creamy tomato sauce)
It was creamy indeed and the sundried tomato gave it a piquant touch.
For desserts, we thought we would order the birthday girl a Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was good!
We brought out a tiny cake from Chocz. When we asked the service staff if they could transfer it to a plate and lit it up, they gladly did it for us. They made the birthday happier by giving her another tiramisu on the house!
The birthday girl was blushing!
The little cake came out with the birthday song that restaurants don't usually play. They played the Happy Birthday from New Kids on the Block! If you miss that song, click here! ;-)
We had a very enjoyable night here at Casa Roma.
Happy Birthday E!
