Woori Nara Korean Restaurant @ Lorong Kilat, Upper Bukit Timah

Ever since Posh-Nosh wrote about the fried chicken at Woori Nara in Aug 2009, I have been wanting to try their fried chicken. Sis, cousin and I finally did after around 8 months!!

Somehow we never want to step in all these while. Sis and I think it's probably the word "we use only canola oil" outside. It somehow makes us think the food will taste less delicious. I know we are different. Most people will think oh, healthy oil.

It was a week night so it was not that busy. Only 4 tables were occupied. 1 table were Koreans having their soju and chatting away. The rest of the tables are like us, first timers. (yes, the next few tables talked so loud, we can listen to their conversation. LOL)

Woori-Nara

The 3 of us were served 7 side dishes. We can't help but compare these to the one few doors away. hehe...

The potato and egg salad was nice though! I don't like pickled radish, but sis seems to like it a lot. The Kimchi here was also nice. Others stuff were usual.

Sides

We were here for the fried chicken and so here it is. We ordered the "Original - Crispy and Mild" version of it. We had half a chicken, bones on. $12

The 3 of us found the chicken ok only. I think we came with too high an expectation. We liked the one we had at Cliff that I posted last week better.

It came with 3 sauces of sauce. Onions with Soy, Mild Spicy Dip and Mustard. Combining these 3 sauces on the chicken miraculously added much more taste to the chicken.

Korean Fried Chicken

Sis ordered the pancake. $12.
Surprise surprise, the pancake here is very very nice! Most Korean pancakes are very doughy. But this one has very crispy bottom and sides. It makes you want to eat another piece.

Korean Pancakes

We ordered this next dish for curiosity sake. It's called Bibim-Guksu. $6 (Spicy Mixed Noodles)
We usually see Bibim-Bap but we wanted to see how the Guksu (noodle) version taste like.
It's cold noodles. You can say we satisfied our curiosity, period.

Cold Soybean Noodles

We seem to be trying all the Korean restaurants in this area! There's so many of them here and we are taking notes which is best at each restaurant ;-p

Hi Dawn

Thanks for the note. Ya, I got a note this morning from momo about my typo. Forgot to change it. Thanks for the reminder. :-)

It's up to your interpretation!

Hi Keropok Man, your blog keeps me coming back for more! Anyway, I have to say I fell in love with Woori Nara's Soy Garlic chicken- it tastes like sweet caramel. Really special sauce there.

Try their budae jjigae too! It's got a rather strong kimchi taste (bring it on, I love it), quite different from the more sausage-flavoured soup in Korea.

Ah yes, been wanting to ask you since you have tried so many Korean joints - which one do you like best? :)
