Thai Express @ Bukit Panjang Plaza

This was a quick lunch at Bukit Panjang Plaza. Places to eat gets changed quite frequently here. There is now a Thai Express. It is situated where Xin Wang used to be. (By the way, Xin Wang, Thai Express belong to the same boss, so I guess they are trying to see which chain is more popular or bring in more profits)

I think Thai Express is a better choice than Xin Wang :-)

*** Mango Salad ***

ThaiExpress2

We had a Mango Salad to share. If you are ordering this, be careful of the nasty chilli padi! Small and so potent! Probably that is why it is nice.

*** Tomyam Horfun ***

ThaiExpress1

The Horfun that aunt had. I think it was the Tom Yam Horfun. I can't remember, but I remember it is :-)

*** Meatballs with Tang Hoon ***

ThaiExpress3

Our cousin had this and she liked it. She has this thing about tang hoon nowadays. She had it with a bowl of rice.

*** Set Meals ***

ThaiExpress4

Thai Express seems to have set meals now. They have starters, mains and dessert.

For the starters, there was the shrimp toast (above) or Crispy pancakes (another set that we had)
For the dessert, what we were given was steamed tapioca cake with coconut milk.

ThaiExpress6

For one of the set, we had the Thai Green Curry. I like this curry, I actually finished the whole bowl of curry. (and got a very warm tummy later. :-p )

ThaiExpress5

Their so innocent looking fiery Tom Yam soup. After you sip a mouth of it, you know the potency!

Thai Express @ Holland Village

One of our colleague got her 'Orange Card' from Thai Express and proudly proclaimed: "let's go there to have lunch". So, off we went to Thai Express at Holland Village.

Thai Express

We ordered a few things to share. 3 starters to start our appetite going...
The prawn toast. We always liked it though it's a little oily. :-)

Prawn Toast

This is a free dish. (I think, courtesy of colleague's Orange Card.) Pineapple Salad that's quite refreshing. You see more cucumber and tomatoes than pineapple right? Haha..

Pineapple Salad

This is something I have not tried. Fried Calamari with salted eggs sauce.
The combination's not bad at all. "Old Cat" obviously love it a lot, that he's picking up all the salted eggs. :-)

Calamari with Salted Egg

One 'O card' colleague had the Green Curry Vegetable with rice. This is all vegetables and no meat in it.

Green Curry Vegetables

"Old Cat" decided to have tomyam noodles to give him a 'shock' in his head. When his dish came, he said: "Oh so mild." But... don't be deceived. It's quite potent!

Tom Yam Noodle Soup

Dpuk and I, we knew that this was the potent dish. (Yellow Ginger Chicken) But still, we wanted to be suicidal. We ordered it and as usual, the person taking our order warned us that it's super spicy. We said yes, bring it on!

The last time we tried it, dpuk 'tak ada rasa' (did not feel the spiciness) about it. But this time, you could see that the nerves of his tongue functioning normally. Our tongue's crying for help!

(You all should try this if you think you can take very spicy food. haha...)

Yellow Ginger Chicken

Oh, when we ordered, we asked that by using the coupons that has given us discount (and also a free starter), if we pay using a DBS card, do we still get the free dessert? They said yes! So we got this tapioca dessert FOC.

(One thing about Thai Express we realised is that they are not so 'ngiau' like some places. They seem to be genuine with their offers. I hope this don't stop.)

Tapioca Dessert

Oh, it's Ms Orange Card's birthday month, so she got a bottle of wine to bring home too. Not bad eh.. She treated us this time. She said to give her a big meal on the real birthday date.

(We jokingly asked her, is this her month long Royal Princess celebration? It's only the start of the month, and her birthday's not so soon. haha....)

Thai Express @ West Coast Plaza

From yesterday's post, you can guess that we went to West Coast Plaza for lunch. We were wondering where to go, and somehow someone said Thai Express, and all of us just nodded and walked towards the shop. LOL...

The complimentary papaya salad when you tell them you are paying by a DBS card. We asked if we could swap it for something else, the answer is no. :-P

Papaya Salad

Here's what the whole group of us ate:
"Puk" had the basil chicken. It arrived first and everyone just looked at it salivating. Looks good right?

Basil Chicken

"Almond Jelly" had the seafood Phad Thai. Looks delicious too ya?

Seafood Phad Thai

"Pirate" had the green curry with rice. He did not finish his curry, but the rest of us finished it up. hehe...

Green Curry

This is what I ate. The Honey Chicken. Quite nicely done!

Chicken

The Crispy Drumlettes with Lemon Sauce that we shared.

Drummets

"Ms Healthy" had the Omelette with rice.

Omelette Rice

"Old Cat" had the spicy tom yam fried rice. A few weeks ago, we had a meal at Thai Express too, that time, "puk" ordered this and said it was not spicy. But this order today sure was spicy, coz "Old Cat" was sweating while he was eating!

Tom Yam Fried Rice

And.. the famous Thai Express Tom Yam Soup. The soup's clear but it's one of the most fiery and potent soup you can drink.

Tom Yam Soup - Potent!

Thai Express @ Holland Village

We gave our boss a surprise a few days ago. It was his birthday and we treated him out for lunch. We all headed to Holland Village in 2 cars and we were deciding which restaurant to go to.

We ended up at Thai Express. I think it was because someone wanted Thai Food. So the feasting begins. We decided that each will order their own main meal and we will order a few things to share.

This is the mango salad. $6.90. Always an appetizer that makes you hungrier!

Mango Salad

We wanted to have 2 mango salad, but we saw this sticker on the menu that says DBS card members get a free dish. We asked what it was and was told, it was a papaya salad. So, we swapped one mango salad to the papaya salad instead. :-)

Papaya Salad

This is the Crispy Drumlets. $13.80
Looks delicious and taste delicious too!

Drumlets

Prawn Toast. $13.80
Not a fan of deep fried toast. But colleagues who love deep fried stuff sure loved it.

Prawn on Bread

Phad Thai Beef. $10.90
This was a shared item. Boss wanted to try this as well. I personally like this.

Beef Noodle

Dpuk had the Special Fried Rice. It's suppose to be really spicy. But he said it wasn't. We think there's something wrong with his taste buds. LOL

Tomyam Fried Rice

The Phad Thai Seafood. $19.80
It looks tempting doesn't it?

Pad Thai

Almondjelly had Chye Poh Kway Teow. $9.90
But she said Chye Poh's too little. haha... But I think she mentioned it was not bad.

Pad Thai

Ex Ms Preggy had the Beef Soup. $10.90
Usually you get clear broth elsewhere, but this has dark broth and Ms Preggy says it is good.

Beef Noodle

ZS had the Softshell Crab Glassnoodles. $13.90
His dish came in a pot. How different. :-)

Softshell Crab

This dish sounds really potent. It's called Fire Noodles. $9.90
Call the fire brigade! LOL

Spicy Noodles?

This is what I had. Yellow Ginger Chicken. $9.90
When I ordered this, the order taker warned that it's very very spicy. I thought how spicy can ginger be? When it came, help! It's so so so spicy, your tongue's numb! Everyone had a try and agreed it was potent. So if you want some challenge next time, order this!

It's quite delicious if you can take the heat.

Ginger Chicken

Was a nice and very full lunch.

Thai Express @ Plaza Singapura

In yesterday's post, I mentioned Thai Express, so here's the photos.

This place always reminds us that looks are deceiving. But we enjoyed abusing our tongue and lips. The Tom Yam Soup here always looks so clear and mild. But this is fiery soup. Weaklings need not bother. haha..

I had the Thai Laksa. It looks mild too yah? But this jade-green dish, looks tame but it is wild!

Uncle had Seafood Horfun. Looks yummy too eh?

We always seem to order the same mango or papaya salad. So this time, we tried something different. We had the mushroom and tofu salad. It is actually quite good.

Sis and Cousin both had Phad Thai. Do you realise our brains have somehow being wired that thai food = phad thai. haha...

Hope you rested well over the weekend.
What is your favourite Thai Dish?

Thai Express - Phad Thai

Thai Express - Phad Thai

Thai Express is like a Thai Fast Food Chain. The food's not bad at all. It's a place to catch a quick bite.

I always like Phad Thai. Phad Thai in Singapore's different from the street hawkers in Bangkok. I guess it's the noodles that is different. The Phad Thai in Singapore always have their noodles soft and cooked where in Bangkok, it's still a little hard. I wonder if that's people have observed?
