Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe @ Anchorpoint

Our office mates wanted to celebrate a birthday for one colleague, but the colleague was too 'shy'. Finally she relented and said she will join us for lunch. Her pick for the place for lunch was any Hong Kong Cafe kind of food.

We finally settled for Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe at Anchorpoint.

What did we have? The HK style ice milk tea in steel containers.

Super thick toast with butter and condensed milk. It was quite nice!

We ordered individual items for each person and shared some.
These are what we had.

Instant Noodles with luncheon meat and sunny side up. The birthday girl's lunch. Looks delicious eh?

Another colleague had the Black Pepper Steak with pasta. She seems to enjoy it too.

I had Sweet and Sour Pork Chop with Pasta. I like the sweet and sour pork. It was tender and I think I like sweet and sour stuff. ;-)

Two other colleagues had baked rice. Since they look the same, I just took one of it. We scrapped off the cheese top to show you pork chop rice. ;-)

We shared a mushroom and cabbage dish.

When we were going to pay the bill, one of the 'salesperson' came to sell us their 'Peng You' card. We told them I already had one, but did not bring it. She quickly asked if any of us had our birthday this month. We said it's one of our colleague's birthday.

Boy was she a good sales lady, she took the bill, circled this and that and said this will be free if you have the card, you get discounts, you get a gift too and some other things we did not catch. Before we knew it, it was assumed we wanted that card! She came back with the sign up form and our colleague got her birthday gift and she got treated lunch by the rest of us plus a discount card and vouchers for her own next visit. LOL...

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe @ Orchard Cineleisure

Last week, went to watch Red Cliff 2 with a bunch of friends. The movie was at 7, so we could not have dinner first because everyone was rushing from work.

So after the movie, it was after nine, and we were all quite famish. (we still had appetite after all the bloodshed in the movie. haha..) We did not want to walk around, and the nearest food place that can seat the 10 of us was Xin Wang.

Just the serviette ;-)
There are the 10 of us, but not everything we ordered was err nice. Everyone had lots of complaints and funny looks when the food came. But anyway, here's some of the food photos.

This curry is nice, thick and fragrant. Yes, only the curry. LOL...
The chicken, they are kind of tasteless. We passed the chicken around to a few person, and those who tried it said this chicken's most probably boiled separately and added in later. Sigh..

Err, curry chicken.

Well, the curry is not too bad, so you can still eat the curry (without the chicken) with rice.

Or if you like their soft bread. This bread is soft and nice and it sucks the curry like a piece of sponge. :-)

This peanut butter toast looks nicer. The person who ate it did not complain, so should be good.

This is what the 4 of us at one corner shared. The "ice kacang". (Forgot the name on the menu).
It's really huge! The people around us were looking at it.

The "Ice Kacang"

Not sure about you all, but we are one of those who like to play with out food.
We pretend our spoons are excavators and we dig holes all around. This is the tunnel part.

The "Ice Kacang"

This is the other side of the ice kacang. Our other friend digs from the top down. :-)

The "Ice Kacang"

Then suddenly, the structure gave way, and our ice kacang collapsed! Aiyah!

The "Ice Kacang"

Think this place is ok for desserts and toast. For food in this branch, only if you are really hungry. There's a lot of people here because it closes late. (24 hours on weekends)

We observed something though. When we went in, I think the average age of the people dining must have gone up by 5 years. haha...
(sigh, we are old....)

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe @ Anchorpoint

On Sunday night, we needed to get something from Ikea, so we thought we would have dinner at Ikea as well. When we got there, we realize that Ikea at Alexandra is under renovation. The restaurant's closed!

So, we crossed the overhead bridge to get to Anchorpoint. Bad timing, everywhere's so packed! The food court's so packed, even KFC has no seats. Not really interested in other food, so we walked into Xin Wang just beside KFC. We got ushered to an empty table.

Bro has noodles. Very instant noodles right? That's my impression of HK Cafe noodles, and this reinforces it. LOL

Sis had chicken chop with rice instead. An egg is hidden below the chicken.

For me? I had Pork Curry. The curry looks sinful ya? It is! LOL. But it was nice. Sis had this curry over her rice too.

The rice came with achar. Hmmm, looks very fusion eh?

Missing the Ikea chicken wings etc, and no way I am traveling all the way to the Tampines branch to eat it. I shall wait....
