Have you been to Häagen-Dazs recently?
I was at the Holland Village shop and realised it has been decked up a bit!
There are quite little sidewalk lights and pink banners around!
A few guys (including me) were seen gate-crashing at Häagen-Dazs Holland Village for their Girls' Day Out launch.
The folks at Häagen-Dazs has a menu specially for the girls from now till end of May. I am not sure if they were the first, but my first moon cake ice cream more than 10 years ago was the ones by them. Now they have Ice Cream Macaroons!
High Tea Affair ($38++)
Called the "High Tea Affair", instead of cakes and pastries, there are 3 mini scoops each of Cookie Dough Chip, Belgian Chocolate and Strawberry ice cream on the top layer.
The middle layer you have a choice of 6 delicate ice cream macaroons.
On the bottom layer, pieces of kiwis, raspberries and grapes.
How do I find it? It's something really different. It's ice cream all over instead of sugar, egg whites and almond power with sweet fillings. To me, it's less sweet than the usual macaroons.
Macaroon Mélange ($18++)
If you just want the macaroons, you can order the Macaroon Melange. It's a platter with just the ice cream macaroons.
You can take a look at how the 'brochure' version looks at their Facebook Page.
Five assorted ice cream macaroons containing creamy, luscious ice cream and Chantilly cream encased in a chocolate shell, served with mango sauce and garnished with almond nibs and strawberries.
For those who wants to bring the treats back for their love ones, they have a gift box too!
I can't help giggling when I saw the above frame. It just reminded me of a British royalty who had that on her head during a royal wedding! You know who I am talking about right?
Petite Temptations ($18++)
If you are or were a fan or the Cookie Dough Chip flavour, you might be interested in the above. Balls of vanilla ice cream with buttery cookie dough and sweet fudge chips. It's slightly smaller than the size of a golf ball. It rests on a cookie and drizzled with mango and chocolate sauce.
I find the macaroons interesting. You got to eat it fast though. Ours melted rather quickly. That doesn't mean you can't have long conversations between the girls. A coffee or tea will carry the conversation longer.
Available at all Häagen-Dazs shop in Singapore from 27th March 2012 to 31st May 2012.

Häagen-Dazs Journey of Indulgence
Have you seen the Häagen-Dazs bus in the city? Circling from Esplanade to Orchard Road and back again? Do you know that the people on board the open top double decker bus get to indulge in free-flowing Häagen-Dazs ice cream, gourmet chocolates and bubbly champagne?
Do you want to get on it as well? If you do, you got to hurry up! Only 900 pairs of tickets will be given out!
How to get a pair of tickets? Head down to any of the 13 Häagen-Dazs cafes across Singapore and spend $50 (Dine-in only, before service charge and GST) to receive two complimentary tickets to the bus. There will be three rides a day at 7pm, 8pm and 9 pm from 19 November 2011 to 4 December 2011. Each Häagen-Dazs Journey of Indulgence will start and end at Häagen-Dazs Esplanade cafe, going around the CBD area then go under the Orchard Road Christmas lights.
I went up the bus few days ago, courtesy of Häagen-Dazs and Word of Mouth Communications.
Here's my experience of the ride.
Journey starts at the Häagen-Dazs cafe at Esplanade.
A funvee open top bus has been transformed into a Häagen-Dazs bus!
Ain't it cool? (literally!)
Guys, surprise your wife or girlfriend or mother or 'partner'!
Gals, you can do the same.
I have only been to Open Top buses in Paris and not tried the ones in Singapore, so this was a good chance to try it the ones in Singapore. One that is 'free' in a way and serves you food and drinks!
Only on the preview night that Sara Wee will sing to entertain those on the bus. ;-)
On the normal nights, Christmas music will be played on board.
The part that I have been waiting for. Free flow of Häagen-Dazs ice cream served to us.
(photo taken using mobile phone)
Champagne too if you want. If not, water is also served and they were served by Singaporean Santarinas.
(photo taken using mobile phone)
Cheers!
(photo taken using mobile phone)
Oh yes, chocolates were served too. Delicious gourmet chocolates!
(photo taken using mobile phone)
The ride was fun! It was a nice cool night and it was lovely to be on that ride.
The ride ended around 45 minutes later. It was quite an interesting experience. The ride was slow and smooth. It's only on this ride that you hope there is traffic jam so that you can have a longer ride!
The Christmas Lights seemed so different when you are so up high and you go right below it! The lights are already on and it's wonderful.
So here's some way to spend $50 to get the tickets.
Häagen-Dazs has created 3 irresistible Christmas Dine-In Creations.
Christmas Dine-In Creation 1:There's a Royal Fondue ($48++) that comes with 4 of the popular flavours (Belgian Chocolate, Caramel Biscuit & Cream, Chocolate and Vanilla coated in almond nibs). Baked waffles, marshmallows, brownies, bananas, kiwis and strawberries will be the accompaniments.
Christmas Dine-In Creation 2:
The above is the Christmas Cassata ($16++). Creme Brulee ice cream on a brownie slide, topped with cocoa powder and raspberries, served with a scoop of Cappuccino Truffle ice cream and a scoop of Belgian Chocolate Ice cream.
Christmas Dine-In Creation 3:
This was the "Love in Paradise" ($16++) served with scoops of Belgian Chocolate and Creme Brulee ice cream. There's the dark chocolate cake and served with chocolate seashells and strawberries on the side.
I like the creations above because of the creme brulee ice cream flavour.
If you are looking for Christmas Log Cakes, they are also being sold. New takeaway creations and also gift hampers are now available. For more details, go to their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/HaagenDazs.Singapore
Enjoy the ice cream and the ride if you are the first 900 pairs!

Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Mooncakes
How can you resist anything ice cream? You all should know I am a sucker for all things ice cream! It's the time of the year where you can get Häagen-Dazs ice cream in the form of mooncakes again.
I remember my first Häagen-Daz ice cream mooncake was eaten about 10 years ago! The very first time I wanted to buy it, it was sold out! So I got it the next year!
On Tuesday night, sis and I did something 'naughty', we met up after work to enjoy two ice cream mooncakes before going home for mum's home cooked dinner! Shh, we did not tell mum about it! We still ate dinner as usual after we got home. Someone told me, it's good to be adults eh? Having ice cream before dinner!
You most probably have been tempted by the brochures of these mooncakes. We have tasted it and taken real photos of it. Here's how it looks, the real deal. We had it at the Holland Village branch.
You can either bring it home or dine-in. We chose to dine-in.
There are 4 flavours: Chocolate & Vanilla, Cookies & Cream, Strawberry and Coffee & Macadamia Nut.
This was the Strawberry Ice Cream Mooncake. We chose it because it's pink! Bright and cheerful.
Pardon my cutting poor cutting. It was really hard frozen!
The outer layer is white chocolate with strawberry paste. Inside, there's strawberry ice cream with bits of strawberries in it. It's a little sweetish and sourish at the same time, how real strawberries ice cream should taste. The yolk centre was a ball of mango sorbet. There was also biscuit like base that's slighty salty. A nice combi of taste in your mouth.
Sis preferred this to the chocolate. She thinks the mango and strawberry is both fruity so it goes better than the chocolate one we had.
This was the Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream Mooncake.
It's rock hard frozen as you can see. Ice particles were forming!
Here's how it looks inside. The outer was a coating of dark chocolate. Inside it was mostly chocolate ice cream, with the bottom layer vanilla ice cream. The centre was a ball of mango sorbet.
I like the sweetish mix of vanilla and chocolate ice cream. The slightly sweetish and sourish mango sorbet gives it a slightly different taste just like how salted eggs in usual baked mooncakes gives it a different taste.
Sis thinks other wise. She said it's ice cream, and she would have preferred something more similar. I think it's nice. I might be bias because I like all things ice cream and chocolate!
Well, what do you think? Which camp are you on?
Head down to the nearest Häagen-Dazs outlet near you from now till 12 September 2011 to try it.
The prices:
- Each of the above costs $18.
- There are also gift sets on sale. A set of 4 pieces costs $58+ (Classic Gift Set). A set of 2 pieces costs $32+ (Petite Gift Set).
- There are also Dine-In Creations that are nicely plated mooncakes with fruits or other scoops of ice cream. Those costs either $18++ or $20++
The ice cream was courtesy of a voucher that we redeemed.

Haagen Dazs (Sushi Ice Cream Platter) @ VivoCity
This was a little treat over the weekend with Momo, Sis and my cousin. If you watched "Chen Ren Za Zhi" / City Beat on Singapore TV last week, you would have seen this on the show! Haagen Dazs is having Sushi Ice Cream.
We were at VivoCity and after walking around, we saw Haagen Dazs and my cousin said, "hey, they have Sushi Ice Cream, shall we try it?" Our legs were tired so we quickly walked in. Even before looking at the 'menu', we knew what we wanted. We told them we wanted the Sushi Platter.
This is the Haagen Dazs Sushi Ice Cream Platter.
We noticed the plate was not cold like other places, but it's still ok as our ice cream was still frozen.
This is the Mango & Passion Fruit Sushi - It's macademia nut ice cream as the 'shari' (rice), mango & passion fruit ice cream as the 'neta' (topping) and chocolate 'nori'.
The Strawberry Gunkan which has Macademia Ice Cream 'shari', Strawberries 'neta' and Chocolate 'nori'.
The Mango Sorbet Sushi that looks like tuna had Vanilla Ice cream 'shari' and Mango Sorbet 'neta'. Oh, the sorbet is sour and really perks you up!
This is the Kiwi Gunkan - Vanilla Ice Cream 'shari', Kiwi Fruit 'neta' and Chocolate 'nori'.
All four were delicious! How can we not enjoy ice cream?
The platter set came with a mini scoop of Green Tea Ice Cream.
(thanks to Stargirl for the reminder. The 'wasabi' is green tea ice cream)
Hmmm... Haagen Dazs has been advertising their slow melt ice cream. The above were slow melting, but definitely not the green tea! ;-p
We also ordered 2 more scoops of ice cream. You can't have enough of ice cream can you?
Memory's failing, but I think these were Belgian Chocolate and Panna Cotta. The chocolate is deeeelicious.
The ice cream companies are getting creative eh? I think they were the ones that came out with mooncake ice cream before others copied them?
It's a little pricey though. The platter costs $22. But I guess it's labour intensive. It's probably all individually hand-crafted.
'Ice' (skinnerthantheoriginal) the most loyal fan of HD must be excited? hehe..

Haagen Dazs @ Holland Village
It's Momo's birthday this week, and this was the after dinner dessert I had with Momo and her parents. For some (undisclosed) reason we decided we would not have dessert at where we ate. We thought we would go somewhere else.
So, we went to Haagen Dazs. It has been ages since I stepped into this branch of Haagen Dazs! Since there was 4 of us, and instead of ordering 4 single or double scoops of ice cream with the 'different additions (toppings, waffles etc)', we thought it would be more fun to have the ice cream fondue and it cost about the same as ordering ice cream for 4 person anyway.
16 mini balls of ice cream, so each person eats 1 of each flavour. LOL
On the sides are also pound cake, chocolate cake and cookies.
There's fruits too. Strawberry, Green Apple and Bananas.
Look how nice I coat the ice cream in the chocolate fondue.
I made a double layer coating. Yummy!
After we placed our order, we were told there was a promotion!
We get two free drinks. Tea or Coffee. So we ordered 2 ice teas.
Ice Camomile Tea with Aloe Vera cubes.
The good old Ice Lemon Tea. (with Aloe Cubes too!)
We also ordered cappucino as extras.
Not a bad deal eh. But we remembered it used to be much much cheaper. Anyway, it was fun.

Haagen Dazs @ VivoCity
We met up with friends who is back in Singapore for holidays. Some had dinner and some met up for tea/supper/ice cream/drinks. (haha.. I am confused).
I think it's more like ice cream. We walked towards Ben & Jerry and found out they close really early! So we walked over to Haagen Dazs. We asked them if they are closing soon, they said they close at 12 midnight. Yey!
So thus begins our ice cream adventure....
They all looked so pretty eh?
So many kinds of flavours...
So many kinds of toppings...
So many combinations...
Even so many kinds of designed sets....
If you don't fancy any frills, there's the good old 'ice cream only' option.
If any of the above is not your cup of tea, this cup of camomile tea might be. :-p
Great to meet up with Ms AY, our librarian friend, who is back on holidays while doing her post graduate degree far far away. :-)
It's people like her that makes the National Library such a nice place ya!

Haagen Dazs @ Vivo City
It's been sometime since we stepped into Haagan Dazs. Instead of having a birthday cake, we had a fondue with candle on it. Yes, this was aunt's 'birthday cake'. ;-)
The last time we had the fondue at HD, it did not look like this. They have changed the presentation of it. It looks nicer now, with pound cake and biscuits too. (prices have changed too)
But these are the little treasures that we love....
Hmmm is it because we are playing with food, that we feel good?
Have a good week ahead.

Vanilla Ice Cream Coffee @ Haagen Dazs Holland Village
Yesterday I promised to show you the picture of the coffee my colleague had. He said it's two of his favourites in one!
Vanilla Ice Cream and Coffee. It is called Affogato if you wanna order it next time.
You are served a scoop of ice cream, no it's hard, but we were 'stealing' some of his ice cream, so we had to like flip the ice cream over to hide the hole and the bottom is already melting. haha...
Then the espresso is slowly poured into the cup.
and some more....
Even more......
The last few drops can't be wasted!
There you go. Affogato.
Obviously no need to add in anymore cream or sugar. :-p
Colleague said it was heavenly.....

Desserts @ Haagen Dazs, Holland Village
Today we had lunch at Holland Village, lunch errr was not really worth posting up. But we did stop over for some ice cream on the way back to the office.
We have not stepped in here for so long, always choosing to go to Coffee Club instead. The menu has changed quite a bit. (How ah pek and ah soh we have become).
Talking about ah pek and ah soh, we initially wanted to go to Cold Rock just opposite, but the moment we went in, it was super noisy rock music that was blasting at the top volume. We thought we did not want to shout to listen to ourselves, so we walked out. haha... The oldest colleague said, he felt so out of place, so glad that we walked out.
We had 5 of us. 3 just wanted some ice cream, 2 other wanted drinks.
So this is what the 3 (+2 haha) of us shared.
We were thinking of the fondue, but thought it might be too much.
This was the flowery looking ice cream that had 6 scoops. (it's 6 mini scoops that we found out later)
But it does look pretty eh? That's mango puree below. Is it still Valentine's Day? LOL..
The 6 flavours we chose was also yummy.
A photo of it before it was totally gone. Yes, the waffle used as the bowl was also eaten.
One colleague had an interesting coffee. Maybe will post it tomorrow then.
We were wondering, what happened to the flavours Baileys Irish Cream. How come they don't have that in the menu anymore. Hmmm
All of us concluded that we all liked Plain Old Vanilla best! What is your favourite ice cream flavour?
