Dinner @ SQ12 (SIN-NRT-LAX) Economy

This is Part II of the flight. The flight from NRT-LAX. There's also a choice of 2 selections. Japanese or International.

Momo had the International Selection which had the chicken.

SIN-NRT-LAX SQ12 (NRT-LAX Portion)

The Appetizer which is a seafood salad.

Appetizer

The warm bun. Momo's bun was soft, but the one I got was rock hard! I think they heated mine way too long....

Warm Roll

The chicken selection with mash potato.

Chicken & Whip Potato

For me, I had the Japanese selection again.

Japanese Selection on SIN-NRT-LAX SQ12 (NRT-LAX Portion)

The starter / appetizer was a single prawn salad. LOL.

Appetizer

I took the Japanese selection because I wanted the cold noodles again. I can't read Japanese, but I think for this leg, the sauce is from Japan.

Soba Sauce

The pickles that was kinda tasty. If only they had more...

Japanese Pickles

The cold soba. Lovely and cold. You don't get it this cold on ground. (even with ice below it in restaurants, which is why it is so nice on the plane?)

Cold Soba

The hot meal was beef for the Japanese selection. It was Japanese Meatloaf. I did not really like it though.

Meat Loaf

The crackers.

Crackers

The high light of this leg was the Fauchon ice cream they served.

Fauchon Ice cream

Fauchon Ice cream

It's so creamy and you can see they use real vanilla pods. It's so fragrant too...

Fauchon Ice cream - Vanilla!

OK. I promise the next post will not be airline food anymore. :-)

Japanese Selection @ SQ12 (SIN-NRT-LAX) Economy

I was wondering if I should post this. Not technically eaten in Singapore. (This diary/blog only post the food eaten in Singapore) But this time it's on a Singapore Airline flight. OK lah....

This is the leg between SIN and NRT on Economy class on SQ12. There's two selection, the International Selection and Japanese Selection. This is the Japanese Selection.

SIN-NRT-LAX SQ12 (SIN-NRT Portion)

Zensai.

It was kinda tasty, slightly fishy. But it's something that can be eaten cold, so it does not need to be heated up and become dry as other airplane food.

Zensai

Japanese Cold Noodles.

Another cold dish, so it's not 'treated with heat' on board the plane. In fact, the noodles are quite delicious. The only complaint was there's too little wasabi. You can ask for more wasabi on board right?

Japanese Cold Noodles

The Soba Noodle Sauce that goes with the noodle above.
The SIN-NRT leg used Australian Soba noodle sauce.

Soba Noodle Sauce

Wakadori Sansho Yaki
Grilled chicken with sansho peppers, selected vegetables and steamed rice. See heated up food changes colour and the rice is dry. The grilled chicken was not dry though. Only the rice ;-)

Wakadori Sansho Yaki

Rice Crackers.

Rice Crackers

Ice Cream
The SIN-NRT leg served Wall's. The NRT-LAX leg served Fauchon ice cream :-)

Ice Cream was Magnum

Roll and Butter.

Roll and Butter

It was quite an all right meal. Airplane food is not always so bad ya.

Toast Box @ Terminal 3 Changi Airport

Momo and I are right now in Los Angeles, California. I am attending an Academic Conference while Momo is here for an outlet shopping trip.

Times are bad, so she's not buying overpriced clothes in Singapore. Do you know that Ralph Lauren tops at Outlet Stores price range is about the same price range as the Giordano Ladies in Singapore?

Wait, you might say what about the air tickets? Mine's paid by the company because it's a conference I am attending. (it's work ok. I had to submit a list of talks related to work and it's arranged 8 to 5!) Momo previously had to travel quite a bit, so she has enough frequent flyer points to fly this trip for free. (Krisflyer's having discounted points to encourage people to fly by the way)

This was Wedneday morning at Terminal 3. Toast Box at the Departure floor.

It seems that this might be the more popular kiosk around. The food's nice and the pricing is 'correct' too. The Teh Si here cost $1.50, while the coffee chain that originates from the country we are heading to, cost $3-$4.

Momo had a Boluo Yao ($1.40) for breakfast. She said it taste rather nice.

Boluo Yao

I had this banana cake ($1.50). It was nice too.
But I think the one my mum makes is nicer. :-)

Banana Cake

Teh Si ($1.50) that Momo had. She's kind of a tea / coffee addict. She and her colleague buy this almost every day and this tea lady in this kiosk makes really good tea. The other better one is at Suntec City she says.

Teh Si

I had my usual. Ice Milo. ($1.80).
This version is 'gao' enough and not overly sweet. I like it.

The other branch that I used to buy it but stopped is the one at Plaza Singapura. The Ice Milo there has gone way too diluted. (Anyone out there agrees with me?)

Ice Milo

Glad this kiosk in the airport does things right. By the way, (we already threw away the receipt), is GST charged for restaurants operating inside here?
