Kok Kee Wanton Noodles @ Lavender Food Square

At Lavender Food Square, the stall with the persistent long queue would be Kok Kee Wanton Noodles. Probably Singapore's most famous wanton noodles stall? This was nearly midnight and there was still a queue!

It's so famous, you see tourist coming here to try it. Seated beside us were tourist with their back packs, armed with their guide book, sitting around the table having food and photographing it as well.




These folks here must had been working non stop for years. The elderly uncle and aunty had become a bit 'robotic' in serving up the wanton noodles. It's the same motion non stop. The noodles were cooked in bigger batches and then separated into smaller portions.

Although I said they looked robotic, this lady in the photo can be quite graceful when she snips the noodles with her scissors! You have lots of time observing them while you queue up! Her action is bit like 'Cut the Robes' game on the iPhone! Next time you are there, take a look at how she does it!



A younger lady took orders while the old hands prepared the food.

Remember I was here with the 'seniors' group? One aunty in the group told me, she had eaten their noodles for the longest time! She added that the lady used to be less tired looking and smiled more previously she said. Oh well, they scarified their youth for our tummies!



This was the small version of the 'dry' option of the wanton noodles. ($3.50)

It had very very springy noodles. Somehow, putting the noodles in your mouth gives you immense pleasure! The combination of the sauce over the noodles made it very appetizing. The meat and wontons on it were just normal. It's the noodles that was nice, and I think people come here just for the noodles. It's kind of addictive too. We wanted another plate after eating it!
