We got a call on Tuesday to have dinner at Jumbo. Sis is leaving Singapore for a month and our dearest aunt wants to give sis a 'smooth travel' treat. Will sis miss her favourite crabs? LOL...
There was 8 of us with some other friends too. We all met at Jumbo @ Dempsey. This is our 1st time at this branch. This place sure look very swanky! Modern deco in an old army barracks with super high ceilings.
The things we ate, shown as it is served to us. Baby Kailan stir fried with garlic.
Almost every restaurant seems to have their signature 'homemade' tofu dish. This is their version. (Don't you think they all look the same everywhere you go? Why signature? LOL) Not too bad I would say.
Another of their popular dish, Salted Egg Golden Prawns. If you like prawns and you like salted eggs, just order it. Crunchy prawns with the salted egg sauce never fails to bring smiles to our faces.
Sis and Aunt simply loves things with Yam. This is Scallops wrapped in Yam Rings. It comes with this sweetish sauce and when you dip this in it, it taste absolutely delicious.
OK, we have a guest that does not touch yam. So while the rest of us adores it, he hates it. LOL. That's food. Everyone has different tastebuds.
Next came 20 mini fried buns! 20? Yes, but they are so tiny. :-)
The 2 Sri Lankan Chilli Crabs. Everyone got their favourite crab place. For Chilli Crabs, our family like Jumbo's. It's spicy and they have LOTS of eggy sauce. Just perfect for the buns!
Hmmm. This crab seems to be saying: Please don't eat us. Please order something else next time ok?
Oh this is something very different. It looks like a chicken that's been rolled over by a steam roller.
Our cousin likes it though. It's chicken with cuttlefish paste below it.
A close up for you. Skin with no fat and chicken meat, but with cuttlefish (sotong) paste below.
We found a nicer way to enjoy this. Eat it with the Chilli Crab sauce!
For desserts, we ordered a few bowls of the following to share.
Yam Paste Dessert - Or Nee. Their version here has corn bits in it.
Their mango pudding. Not very pleasing to the eye, but pleasing to the tongue.
This is the most refreshing. Honeydew sago.
It's a nice dinner. This place is so packed even on a weekday!
It's a very tourist place. You hear people speaking different languages. We saw the next table ordering the pepper crabs and it smell absolutely divine. Hmm... we might come back for it! We need to find an occasion. ;-)
