Founder Bak Kut Teh @ Balestier Road

We were feeling hungry and we met up again to eat. This time the location is at Founder Bak Kut Teh. Some says it's the place to go in Singapore for Bak Kut Teh. There's even a queue for a place at this restaurant. We queued up for 15 mins before we got a table for 7.

Momo and I think this place is famous because of this 'famous wall' where has the photos of famous stars. Can you spot the famous stars on this wall? This is only 1 of the many walls filled with photos of the owner with HK / Taiwan / Singapore stars.

The wall of the famous stars.

As this is the first time we were here, we did not know 'how' to order. We did not know we got to specify if we wanted those huge ribs that many tables got. Those ribs that the rest got can cover your face!

Since we did not specify, we were served the usual chopped up pieces instead. Momo 'the girl with braces' found it tough to eat though. I guess we got served meat that was a bit tough. Tough luck. (pun intended).

But if you like peppery soup, this is for you. Bowl of Peppery Pork Rib Soup - $8.

Bak Kut Teh

Those who like innards can order this, the innards soup. $8
I don't eat this because I have a phobia of them, I remember being forced to eat liver as a kid. Anyone there got forced feed these 'nutritious' stuff by their grandmas?

Innards Soup - me don't eat this!

But I like their 'xian cai' / preserve vegetables though. I have a weak spot for this. I wished they used whole garlic bulbs instead. I love to suck the garlic out from the whole garlic that has been stew till they are soft.

Xian Cai - Braised Salted Vegetables

The soy sauce tofu skin. Some like it, I find it OK lah. It doesn't impress. They are accompaniments after all. LOL

Soy Sauce Braised Bean Curd Skin

You Tiao. Use them to soak up the soup!

You Tiao - Fried Dough Strips

The Braised Tao Pok. Sorry to say it, but I think this dish CMI lah.
I guess I don't like dishes that are super salty.

Braised Tao Pok

But the following dish saved the day. It is delicious, so very delicious! It's even better than the pork ribs.
This braised pork trotter dish ($8) has meat falls off the bone yet the meat's not soft and mushy / disintegrated. You can even feel the person who prepares this puts his/her heart to it!

The Braised Pork Trotter

Do you like your Bak Kut Teh with rice? Some of us do. Some like it with 3 bowls. hehe...

Of course you got to eat Bak Kut Teh with steaming white rice

Momo and I will come back here again, but for the Pork Trotters and maybe order the correct ribs next time.
But we won't order the accompaniment dishes though.

Who knows you might meet some famous stars eating here. :-)

ice,
maybe you were not forced to eat them (liver) when young? LOL..

I like pig stomach soup though, but only the soup. I recently tried intestines!! But that was because mum was around? hehe...

Nic,
ya ya, i wonder how the big ribs will taste like. would those huge ones bring tears to our eyes?

Ugh ! I cant stand the taste of liver. My eldest sis loves them with the mee suah.

The braised pork trotters looks very yummy meaty leh :-))

Just came to me that I always go for a BKT meal with male members of my family, each to their fave stall - haha. I cooked with the herb pack made in SG - very good nice, as my hubby would say - LOL !
