How do you make the perfect half boil egg?

With so many places serving half boil eggs? What is your way of making sure it is just nice?
Old kopitiam sells it, the new hippy toast joints sells it, this photos are taken from still popular Hong Kong Cafes in Singapore.

Are you able to take a look at the egg above and tell if it is hard boiled or half boiled?

Experts out there, let us know! :-p

Something about seeing how the egg spins to determine if the egg is hard boiled.

To make ya-kun type of half boiled eggs, bring a saucepan of water to boil vigorously, then turn off heat. Put room temperature eggs in the hot water for about 4-4.5 minutes (depending on the size of the eggs)

yes, can do the spinning test. Spins easily means it's hard-cooked. Wobbly means raw...in between means half-boiled...kekekeke.

If you lazy to keep track of time, go and get those plastic "half-boiled egg maker"....I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...hahaha

We are supposed to guess if the first egg is hard-boiled or soft boiled, right?

The egg is actually a little more than half boiled :-) At the HK cafe right in front of Daiso in IMM.

Tigerfish,

I have not seen those plastic maker for a long time liao. when young mum used to use it.

Nowdays, I super lazy, I microwave it!
Pour 2 tablespoons of water into a bowl, then crack the egg and add it in. Pierced the egg white and egg yolk a few times, then microwave it for 1 min.

Lazy method hor... :-p
