Last meal for the year.... Sushi Tei @ Holland Village

The last meal we had for the year 2007 was Japanese. I had some Sushi Tei vouchers and wanted to use them up. Met up with Uncle, Aunt and cousin with sis at the HV branch.

I was late. Oops.. So when I got there, everyone's already eating. The ebi uramaki and unagi uramaki was ready for me to eat.

We also had some sashimi. (The vouchers gave this Asama for free)

With the Hokkaido promotion now on, we ordered the giant chawanmushi. It feeds 3 or 4 persons. And look, it's not fake crab sticks, it's the whole pieces of real crab meat. yummy!

Sis likes this baked crab thingy, every time we are here, she orders this. We also had the baked scallops, which is also very delicious!

The vouchers also gives us a free Dragon Roll. It's really good. 1 huge prawn that's so nicely done and made into rolls with avocado slices over it. Aunt loved the crispy prawn head that was so fragrant very much.

See, the prawn's huge inside eh...

The egg roll with unagi wrap. It comes warm and delicious! Nice thick warm eggs. ah....

Sis wanted some hot soup, so we called her a teapot soup! haha..

Remember, I posted this too for a meal at Inagiku?

We ordered this so that little cousin can 'play with food'.
Why are we calling her little when in 2008, she'll be in P6!

This is Gyu Miso Yaki.

You cook it according to how 'done' you want it to be. Cousin did a good job. ;-)

We also filled ourselves with 3 carbo dishes: Curry Rice, Curry Udon and Garlic Rice.

The bill was $140 something before we presented the vouchers. With the vouchers for the free Asama and Dragon Roll, 2 $10 vouchers, 10% using Sushi Tei card, the bill shrunk to $88.48 ;-)

Alas, the Sushi Tei Credit Card is being discontinued, wonder if it's because all of us who have the card have been given too much discounts? haha... It becomes a loyalty card on 31 Jan 08.

So, what was your last meal for the year 2007?

Christmas Dinner @ Sembawang

This year we had our Christmas dinner after Christmas. Why? We were all away from Singapore and only back after Christmas. This year it was hosted by our relatives in Sembawang.

5 photos of the many food we had. It's a mix of Ang Mor Food and Asian Food. haha..

For the Ang Mor Food:

Aunt roasted a turkey, this shot is taken in her kitchen in Toh Yi before being transported to Sembawang. :-) Delicious looking eh? Home baked turkey taste the best.

Ball of Ham

Our niece mad tiramisu. (but where's the lady fingers, we were wondering. haha..)

The Asian food, we had:

Pan fried dumplings

Green Curry too.

plus fried bee hoon, roasted chicken wings, roast pork, vegies, etc...

It was good. Have a very Blessed Christmas.

[sorry for the backdated post, too busy doing so many things...]

Awfully Chocolate

Tonite, we had our usual monthly makan gathering. We were suppose to have it at a friend's new place, but the couple said it isn't quite ready yet, so it ended up at our place.

It was a pot luck, and arrghh.. I forgot to take the food photos! Only remembered it when we finished our food. But phew... there's still a dessert that was not touched! LOL.

We had like 27 people tonite.

K & P brought this delicious cake. It has an awful name, but it was good.

Every month we will celebrate someone's birthday, so we placed this Happy Birthday plastic thingy on the cake, and sang the birthday song and posed for photos. haha...

Want some?

If you are going to ask me where to get it? Here's the address from the box.

It was served with some homemade ice cream I made. Chardonnay Mango Ice Cream. Still experimenting with my ice cream. haha..

Santa Cake Jelly

Hmmm if I don't post this, I guess there wont be a chance to post it till next year! haha...

A colleague brought this to office just the other day. Not sure about you, but we like to have mini parties for like 15-30 mins around 3-4 PM when we get a chance. It's like a power snack, we get so energize to work after! LOL.

Doesn't it look nice? We thought it was a cake then realise it is a big huge jelly!

It was delicious. Thanks ZS!

Carl's Jr @ Plaza Singapura

I am back from holidays, been away for a week, and have to thank Momo for taking over :-)

Err, I ran out of photos to post! I have not been eating in Singapore for 7 days. haha.. I have lots of photos eaten the last 7 days, but they are not eaten in Sg, so can't post them here.

Anyway, just before I left last week, sis and I had Carl's Jr. The last time I had it was when they first arrived, been such a long time, that I can't remember. We saw earlier their big huge advertisement on the bus, we walked over.. haha...

There was some special burger (sorry, can't remember what it was). The person asked, single, double or triple. I thought it was small, medium or large. Haha.. I feel so silly now.

The fries...

The burger...

I am so 'sua ku'. I never knew fastfood cost so much! The fries, burger and a drink cost $14.00
It's going to be a while before I come here again. :-p

Galatissimo @ Shaw House

I have always wanted to try the gelato at Shaw House but never got a chance too. Last week, i just had to eat that and promptly walked over there after dinner with friends.

I choose the passion fruit one. It was very passion-fruity and yummy. You could bite into the seeds too ;)

Try it! Some people say you never try gelato until you have tried this one.

The Mussel Guys

A Blessed Christmas to all. May this Christmas be a meaningful season for you. Season of feasting? ;) Haha.

Thought that most Christmas lunches would be of turkey, ham and beef. Hence, wanted to try out something different. Went with Dino and Eds to a mussel place in Vivocity. Rather crowded.

Was quite hungry, so i started with soup. Tried the chef's recommendation - Chowderful Mussel Soup. Nothing much to rave about, its just soup with a mussel sticking out.

3 of us shared 3 different types of mussels.
Steamed Mussels. Tasty with white wine sauce. And i think all of us are addicted to the alcohol in it! ;)

Sambal ones. This has lots of garlic.

Baked Cheese ones. This actually goes well with the sambal sauce from above.

It was quite a musselful lunch. I quite like the steam ones best.

Happy Holidays to all!

The Fusion Bowl

It was a cold day and a colleague said, i want to have "qing" soup today. Whenever she says that, its means we are going to have macaroni for lunch. So off we are go to downstairs to pack this. Pack because there are very few tables to sit at this place and its crowded that we just pack it upstairs to the pantry to eat.

Its a very light, yet flavourful soup. No signs of MSG. It has carrots, mushrooms and chicken mince with macaroni. It goes best with their little red cut chilli.

Duck Porridge

Not something very spectacular, but have to eat light before feasting for Christmas and New Year.

Just duck porridge from the Food Center opposite the former Ginza Plaza. (When it reopens again, it will be called West Coast Plaza)

I am away from Singapore until after the Christmas holidays. Postings might be slow.
If Momo is free, she will be posting on my behalf.

Have a Blessed Christmas!

Prince Taiwan Porridge @ Cheong Chin Nam Road

Last Wednesday nite, we attended a concert that our cousin was performing in. Had to rush there after work. Met sis and off we went and met uncle and aunt. After the concert, we headed to Cheong Chin Nam Road to have supper.

It's late and we seldom have supper, so we opted for porridge. We ate at the Taiwanese Porridge shop, just beside Killeney.

You can have rice or porridge with sweet potato. We all had porridge.

The Mei Cai Kou Rou that we had.

Sze Chuan Vegetables with Pork. I like szechuan vegetable anything! haha..

The Chai Por Egg. I like Chai Por with anything too!

The Inoki Mushroom, Shitake Mushroom and Pork.

The Fried Beef.

This is a place to add to the list of where to get late nite makan. It seems that the Cantonese Porridge shop a few doors away is very packed. But Aunt who lives in the area said, prefer hot food rather than cantonese style where the food is cold only the porridge is hot. :-)

Cafe Cartel @ IMM

Last Sunday night, Momo, sis and I, we went to IMM to eat and buy some ingredients. Colleagues are coming the next day to eat my homemade ice cream. It's still in experimental stage and they don't care. They are willing to be guinea pigs. I made banana, honey and ferrero rocher ice cream.

Anyway, back to dinner photos, we had food at Cafe Cartel. It has been a long time since we stepped into one, because the queue is always so long. There was a queue, however when we wanted a table for 3, it was readily available! woo hoo!

I had the St Louis Pork Ribs. I seem to always have this when I step in here.

Sis had the Chicken Chef's Salad.

Momo had the Hawaiian Pork Chop.

They were all delicious. We think the Hawaiian Pork Chop wins!

Want to know what they serve? It's all at their website if you have the time.

Fong Seng Nasi Lemak @ Clementi Road

Few days ago, colleagues and I we went to Fong Seng Nasi Lemak along Clementi Road to have lunch. Realise that we all did not really ordered real Nasi Lemak. So the photos are not of Nasi Lemak! haha..

But the Chicken Wings at Fong Seng is one of the things that most people will eat. Btw, that's not oil, but the gravy from the veg. :-)

We all ordered rice with the various dishes. Should have taken pictures of people around who are really eating Nasi Lemak.

You can see all the food recommendation posters on the Bain Marie that has all the delicious fried stuff! :-)

Have a super long weekend to those who managed to take the long leave!

Buffet Lunch @ Oscar's - Conrad Centennial Lunch

We had a farewell lunch for a colleague today. He has been around for so long and suddenly we found out he is leaving! We are sad that he is leaving, yet happy that he is looking forward to a new job.

We were suppose to go to Carousel at RP, but it was fully booked. Actually, 8 out of 10 places we called were fully booked! Everyone's having a feast these few days!!! We ended up here at Oscar's, Conrad Centennial Singapore which still had places. We should have booked earlier.

The mains are so so / ok / fabulous (it all depends on people right?), but here's a pretty picture for you. Yabby!

What all of us enjoyed was the desserts section. Absolutely delicious!

This is Hot Chocolate Pudding. Topped with a delicious scoop of ice cream.
Pudding that is so warm and soft and chocolatey, ok, with choc chip ice cream with a fancy name that i can't remember. :-)

OK, I topped up with a piece of chocolate that so deliciousss.....

Other than the chocolate pudding, there's also the warm waffle.
Yes, topped up with ice cream as well.

I love the chocolates there. I think it should me made by the hotel.
Lovely. Oh... I stress so lovely...

Lots and lots of desserts, but did not take photos of them. Busy eating and chatting.

Here is a photo of the dessert bar in front and the rest of the mains bar behind, and the kitchen right behind the big panels.

All the best KP, wishing you a good year and great start for your new job.
