Chin Chin Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Purvis St

Right after having our french meal (from yesterday's post) at the Bloggers Lunch, a few of us continued a few shops down the road for more food.

The few of us who are the gluttons/bottomless pit/hungry ones/whatever you want to call us are Recentrunes, BlackTieWhiteLie, Camemberu, HungryCow, Momo and myself.

We decided to have Riz au Poulet, so we went to one of the famous Riz au Poulet shop down the street. We went in and ordered a half "noir" and half "blanc". The auntie took our orders and in the typical placing of order style, repeated our order by shouting out loud. She shouted "Or Pek Ji Jiak".

Hang on, that sounds as if we wanted one roast chicken and one white chicken. "Auntie, auntie, wo3 men2 yao4 de4 shi4 yi4 zhi4 ji1, bu2 shi4 niang2 zhi1" (we want one chicken, not two)

The auntie said the way she put in our order was correct. You think I don't know French meh? Gunther's only few doors away, so near only, we eat there too lah. We eat until we can read their menu and speak French liao. You all want one chicken, half roasted, and half white 'tio boh'? **we were impressed**

Half Half - Half Roast, Half White

Chicken's not too bad. I think I preferred the Roast Chicken.
(Personally, I think I like the 5 star chicken rice than here. :-p)

We also had a sambal fan su ye.

This dish was quite amazing. It's mutton claypot stew and there's totally no mutton smell in it! You should try it too.

This place and the place opposite (also selling chicken rice) are rivals. You can do an online search and read about how some people insists this side is nicer, and others insists the other side is nice.

It sure was a fun day out. Eating, chit chatting, laughing with new friends and old friends.

p/s The part of us ordering in French only existed in my dreams. Paragraphs 3 to 5 are purely imaginary. :-)
