Choupinette @ Bukit Timah Road

It's been some time since we came to Choupinette, and a few friends thought that we should do lunch here. It must be a great day to come here because everyone went on so smoothly!

1. We found parking so easily, on arrival we had a lot.
2. We did not book as it was a last minute decision, and the kind folks arranged a table for 7 so quickly!
3. Remember the last time we came here, we did not have all the eggs runny in the centre? This time, they were all perfect! (as in runny...) Oh yummy yummy...

We all had similar sets. It was either the Eggs Benedict or Eggs Florentine sets.
(It was more like we were all busy chatting that we just followed what everyone else ordered)

The sets comes with 1 hot drink and 1 juice.
I had hot chocolate.

Hot chocolate

And an orange juice.

Orange Juice

This is the Eggs Benedict. Looks good eh? Taste good too!

Eggs Benedict

I had the Eggs Florentine because I want spinach instead of ham. ;-p
I love.... eggs like this. Runny yellow centre and soft egg whites.

Eggs Florentine

As usual, lunch tastes good because you are with great company.
Sets were around $20.

Pine Court Seafood @ Blk 43 Holland Drive

One colleague suddenly told the rest of us, another of our colleague (old cat) has been eating the 'hor fun' / 'chao mi fen' / 'mui fan' kind of dishes at this 'zhi char' at Buona Vista after work. It seems to be quite nice and he has been going back way too often.

We must try it out and see if it's nice. So we went there for lunch one fine day. It's at Blk 43 Holland Drive coffeeshop. The zhi char is called Pine Court Seafood.

Pine Garden Seafood at the Coffeeshop at Blk 43 Holland Drive

We were really hungry that day and we ordered a few dishes to share.
We were recommended the tofu dish. Not too spectacular, but it was not bad. The green vegetable some hairy gourd.

Homemade Tofu Dish

We wanted to try the plain old sweet and sour pork, but we were recommended this instead. Fruity Pork Ribs. The ribs are nice.

Fruity Pork Ribs

We also ordered a deep fried long beans dish. I think all of us like long beans, so we found it good. We tasted some salted fish bits in it. Maybe that's what it nice?

Long beans with mince

Prawn Paste Chicken. Fragrant deep fried chicken. Who can resist it?

Prawn Paste Chicken

Zhi Char at coffeeshops are usually very economical and taste really good. Might come back again to bring the rest to try.

English Restaurant and Bar @ Sloane Court Hotel

While everyone seems to be going to the newest places to eat, I seem to be visiting a few places that are 'ancient' in Singapore standards. These places have been around so long, they have outlived most restaurants in Singapore.

Uncle and Aunt called us out for dinner. Aunt did not feel like cooking and wanted something different. Something old and very traditional. We came to Sloane Court Hotel's English Restaurant and Bar.

You see modern condominiums surrounding this place. Looking at it, it reminds us of Fraser's Hill in Malaysia. Or motels in Australia to me. LOL

Sloane Court Hotel

When you go in, you'll see the walls with old English deco. It has stuff that you know what Mel Gibson wears on Braveheart. You should visit to see how it looks. Maybe for tea?

After looking at the menu and can't really decide what to eat, we had 3 set meals and 2 ala-carte items. The set meals had coleslaw. It looks simple, taste simple, but it is nice. Very different from KFC's version.

Coleslaw

Plain warm buns. Old style buns, not the Breadtalk generation kind of buns.

Warm Buns

Also part of the set, mushroom soup.
For me, I think I like modern style mushroom soup. ;-p

Mushroom Soup

Uncle's favourite. He like the traditional Ox-tail stew here.

Ox Tail Stew

Aunt had the Encik Kabin.
You realise the food here is 'boringly' traditional British? haha.. Served with boiled carrots and peas. The potatoes are whole potatoes, cut into pieces and deep fried.

Encik Kabin

Sis and I both ordered the sirloin steak.
Yes, they prepared the 'done'-ness as specified. It was quite good.

Cousin had the ala-carte version which is not the set, it was Garlic Steak.
Ala-carte version comes on the sizzling hot place. Sets are served on the usual whites. ;-)

Steak

Dessert was ice cream with tea or coffee.

Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream

It was a nice dinner. Having food like this, we started to talk about our aunts, uncles, cousins, our sis and bro in UK. Suddenly miss our bro. Does he miss us? LOL...

We were wondering how the budget flight to UK on AirAsia X from KL will be like. Anyone tried it? We have never travel long distance on budget airlines.

Barcelos @ Holland Village

Met up with a few of our friends at Holland Village for dinner. The venue was stated as Barcelos in our sms and we were wondering where it is. Good thing I saw opposite Subway in the same sms, so I was not lost. It's on the same row as Provence / Parisilk if you are wondering.

Barcelos (this branch at Holland Village)

Oh, when I got in, a few other friends and Momo was already there.
Ah.. I know what this place reminds me of. Nando's. Look at the bottle of Peri Peri sauces! Just like those in Nando's ya?

(Nando's a similar Portuguese chicken place that I used to eat in Melbourne when I was studying. They also have branches in Malaysia and the UK. How come it's not in Singapore?)

Peri Peri Sauces

While we were deciding what to eat, we saw a guy next door ordering a chicken set. It smell very very good. But we discovered that he got angry cutting the chicken and just left! How weird!

Anyway, Momo decided to get the 1/4 Chicken Set anyway. The chicken smell as nice as the one we saw earlier. Momo said it was nice, but it would be better if it's a bigger portion. LOL..

Chicken Meal

Another friend ordered the Beef Burger.
You can order either 1 or 2 patties. They will also ask you if you want cheese, by topping up another 75 cents.

Beef Burger

One friend who we know always 'got to' eat rice ordered the rice dish. (just as the rest of us predicted he will).
He had the Chicken Stir Fry & Rice.

Chicken Stir Fry and Rice

Our friend who was the organiser for this meet up ordered the Prego Steak Burger.
He had the two slices burger. Ordered it medium done. One patty came out as ordered, but one came out well done. (They got only half of it right. haha)

Prego Steak Burger

I had the Garlic Burger. Like all the above, it came with fries. This is how it looks.
I had mine Mild Peri.

Garlic Burger

The burger's not bad. The bun was soft and it absorbs the sauce very well.
I tried all the 4 sauces that's available with the chicken and bun.

Garlic Burger

They are pricier than your usual Mcdonalds or KFC burgers. But it's not really fair to compare them as it is not really in the same category.

It does not come with drinks, but you can order the 'bottomless softdrinks' for $2.95 where you can keep refilling your drinks from the self service drink machine. ;-)

It costs an average of $15 per person, depending on your order.
Check their website for the full menu and pricing.

(Psssst, I think Nando's tastes better. hehe)

Prince Coffee House @ Coronation Plaza

Last Tuesday, it was our colleague, Pirate's birthday. We asked the birthday boy what he wanted us to treat him to for lunch. His 1st and 2nd choices were located very far away. It was also very famous. (aka expensive haha).

We don't mind treating him those famous places but we are really too busy at work. So we asked him, to pick somewhere not so far. He chose a place near Coronation Plaza. We took a cab there and found it was closed. So we thought we will just walk inside Coronation Plaza to take a look.

He saw this place called Prince Coffee House. We thought we shall just try it out.
We walked in and thought that the place was frozen in time, maybe for 25 years maybe? We loved it though. We saw this antique looking cash register and was fascinated by it!

Antique Cash Register

We took a look at the menu and was staring at it wondering what to order. Dpuk was naughty and said, hey, look at the "Today's Special", has the today special been around for the last 10 years? LOL..

We decided that we should just ask the 2 ladies who seated us to recommend the dishes. We decided to order a-la-carte and share a communal meal.

Although it was Pirate's birthday, Old Cat was stating what he liked and we just ordered his favourites! Old Cat has this fascination for bitter gourd and the lady recommended Bittergourd with Sliced Fish.

Good choice. It was very nicely done. Bitter gourd's soft and not really bitter. Fish slices was also quite generous. Very home cooked feeling to it and everyone loved it.

Bittergourd with Sliced Fish

We were also told their specialty is Hainanese Pork Chop.
Another spot on order. The pork was tender and the chips on it tasted especially good with the sauce.

Hainanese Pork Chop

We also had a 'tie pan tofu'. Look at the ingredients on the Seafood Tofu hot plate. Lots of stuff on it ya?

Seafood Tofu on Hot plate

We had a Kailan with Beef dish too.
The beef is very tender and the veg not overcooked.

We found out later that many people come here to have their Beef Hor Fun. They prepare their Beef dishes very well it seems.

Kailan with Beef

We ordered sambal ladies fingers, something you rarely see on menus in most places.
We were kinda disappointed when they told us, the kitchen had no more ladies fingers and we had it replaced with kangkong.

Sambal Kangkong

The last dish we had was Black Pepper Prawns.
We think it tasted nice. It was hot and peppery but it was not too overwhelming.

Black Pepper Prawns

It was a nice meal. It was a nice 'ancient' looking place too, which is quite a charm. Look at the plates, I think some of you might have them in your parent's place right? The classic plates in our parent's era. We were wondering was it a young cook or an experienced cook?

The total bill came up to $169.80.
We had 7 of us who ate it and was quite satisfying. We might have over ordered, but we were hungry people.

Raffles Creamery @ Raffles Hotel

If you were waiting for the photos of the ice cream from yesterday's post, here it is.

You can order the ice cream while seated inside Seah Street Deli or you can walk out to Raffles Creamery just outside the entrance of Seah Street Deli.

The guys just ordered inside the Deli. Isn't it easier to place your order with the waitress? ;-p
The ones ordered 'inside' were served in tall glass ice cream bowls.

Raffles Creamery

The above is 2 flavours of ice cream with mars bar topping I think.
The below is 1 flavour of ice cream mixed with 1 flavour of sorbet. This friend of us wants to mix it though it might taste weird.

Raffles Creamery

Oh the ladies did not want to order inside. All of them happily skipped out together to the 'ice cream kiosk' to pick their ice cream and toppings. Then they admired the guy who was 'teppanyaki'-ing the ice cream for them.

The ice cream ordered 'outside' were served in containers like this.

Raffles Creamery

My guess is that this is chocolate with M&Ms.

Raffles Creamery

I think these ladies love alcoholic based ice cream, so this must be one of those alcoholic flavours with Mars bar topping.

Raffles Creamery

I realised something. I think the ladies like Gummy Bears? Just look at the topping for the next two ice cream.

Raffles Creamery

Question: How do you all eat gummy bears? You bite the head off first, chew and swallow then pop in the head, chew and swallow.

Or you put the whole thing in your mouth and chew?

Raffles Creamery

I have in 2007 posted how they 'teppanyaki' the ice cream with a video as well. Click here to view it.

Seah Street Deli @ Raffles Hotel

This was the second part of the Sushi Tei lunch I posted a few days ago. After that nice meal, some people (OK, it's the ladies) wanted to continue chatting. The same people also wanted to have some drinks and ice cream.

We browsed their menu again, and did not find anything that fancy the picky taste buds of the ladies. :-P We thought we would ask the servers that was serving us, if they knew any place that sells ice cream. Guess the answer? "I think 7-Eleven nearby should have" was the reply! LOL!!!!

Yours truly then suggested Raffles Creamery. I told them you can sit at Seah Street Deli and order the ice cream from Raffles Creamery, so that you will still have an air conditioned place to chat. :-)

Half the people migrated over to Raffles Hotel.

Seah St Deli

We could have eaten these if we did not have a very full lunch just before our visit. ;-)

Seah St Deli

OK. Here's some of the drinks.
This is Pineapple something that some had. (haha.. I really forgot who had it)

Pineapple Something?

I ordered something that sounded really weird.
Pink Flamingo! hehe... Very refreshing on the super hot Saturday afternoon. It's very very sweet!

Pink Flamingo

For some people, on hot days, they will still drink hot coffee. I know many people are like this. (eg. my mum's one of them.)

Coffee

The (I think it was) 8 ladies that came along were yakking away, talking about shoes, handbags, iPhones (it was that launched weekend), holidays (one went to Spain) etc.

The 4 guys had to move the mouth too. Guess how did the guys do it? We ordered food so that we can move our mouths too! LOL

We ordered wedges. These are quite delicious wedges!

Potato Wedges

We also had their fiery fries. The spicier version of it. (They had two kinds)
We finished the two bowls of it. Even after our lunch!

Fiery Fries

We gave 'gorilla' a surprise! We secretly ordered this big slice of cake for him.

The kind folks at Seah Street Deli played a "Happy Birthday" song over the sound system. The cake was brought out with a candle and 'gorilla' was so embarrassed! (everyone in the restaurant turned over to look and clapped.)

Oh man. His face turned so so so red! For all of us that knew 'gorilla', we all know he is very thick skin and never blushes. This time, we caught him totally off guard. LOL

(Photo not posted here for his privacy. Those friends who wants to see it, log in to Facebook. It will be there soon)

The cake's nice. Very chocolatery, and the cherry cream makes it very unique. I think the rest of us ate more than half of it for him. Cakes are something the ladies liked. (compared to fries and wedges)

Hey, what happened to the ice cream? I shall post it tomorrow ok?

Peramakan @ Keppel Club

About a week ago, Momo and I met up with Zannnie, Zsolt, MadScientist and Neo. It's the City Daily Photo bloggers meet up!

Zsolt's from Budapest and maintains the Budapest Daily Photo. Zannnie maintains the other Singapore Daily Photo. Zannnie is Zsolt's wife and has moved to Budapest. MadScientist, Ming (who could not make it for this dinner) and Neo now helps Zannnie by contributing to the Singapore Daily Photo. Did I just confused you? LOL...

Zsolt and Zannnie planned their visit way back and have been making arrangement with friends for meet ups and makans. She's very very busy planning what to eat and who to meet. Her scheduled is packed even before she came back! Our dinner was arranged some time back and last Tuesday was her only slot that's still free. haha..

Our meeting with her is to meet up and also to check off another food item from her list of things to eat. :-) Zannnie got the privilege to choose the place and she chose Peramakan.

It was nice to finally meet the people we only know by nicknames! (ie Zsolt, Neo and MadScientist)

Here's what we had for dinner.
Babi Ponteh. Most babi ponteh at other places cut their meat pieces very small, but the way they do it here is to have big pieces. Yumz.

Babi Ponteh

We also had Ayam Buah Keluak so that Zsolt get to taste how buah keluak tastes like. Zannnie said that people in Budapest are used to things with lots of spices. No problem for Zsolt at all!

Ayam Buah Keluak

The rendang here was really tender as well.

Beef Rendang

The Assam Fish. I realized I might be the only person eating most of this. The rest might not be fish lovers? ;-)

Ikan Assam

Good old Sambang Kangkong.

Sambal Kangkon

Udang Nanas. This is a very peranakan dish.

Zsolt likes it very much. Ya, he said he loved the shrimp. Ahh, people from Budapest also call prawns - "shrimps". Our local context of the word shrimp always brings to mind only dried shrimp (hae bee) right?

Udang Nanas

The above dishes are all part of a set that we ordered. We could not decide what to eat and we were recommended to try the Set as it serves all Peramakan's specialties.

The set came with any choice of dessert that you can find in the menu. We were told we could choose 8, because the set was meant for 8 people. No wonder we could not finish the dishes.

I think there are 10 kinds of desserts and we ordered almost everything! Will just show 5 of it. Too many photos makes you 'jelak' right? LOL...

The bubur hitam. I find it very nice.

Guess what Zsolt says it taste like? Chocolate pudding! Then we told him he should try the White Chocolate pudding too! You guessed it, the bubur terigu. LOL

Pulut Hitam

Zannnie's craving durians. So We ordered the two desserts that has durian on it.
This is the Durian Pengat. She's so happy eating it!

Durian Penyet

The ice kacang. Err. too bandung-ish.

Ice Kacang

The cendol. Very nice chendol. Gula melaka and santan (coconut milk) always go so well right?

Chendol

The sago pudding. Not too bad, but the rest of the desserts seems more interesting. ;-)

Sago Pudding

Nice to have met Zannnie again. The last time we met was a few years back when she was still in Singapore. It has been some time since Zannnie moved to Budapest! Glad to have met MadScientist too. Found out he works just a few blocks from my office!

Thanks to MadScientist who paid for the dinner, insisting to treat us. The next time we meet up, it's our turn ok? ;-)

Happy One Month Ian!

Congratulations to ZS and DB on the 1 month old celebration of Ian. Many of us colleagues really love the so so so cute baby photo on the invite and also on FB. The baby looks so peaceful sleeping and posing for the photo! Looks very ZS too! ;-)

Here's what ZS passed to us colleagues in the office. (in exchange of the Ang Pow. haha...)
What a nice box!

Happy one month Ian!

When we opened the box, it was 4 little cupcakes that looks so pretty and appetizing!

The box of cupcakes

Don't you think it might be too cute to eat it up?
A duck swimming on water...

Duck on water..

Rainbow....

Rainbow...

Oh look! There are little white and red and pink hearts on the cupcake!

Look there are small little hearts!

We were wondering. Will the cupcake taste good?
Oh yes it did! This is the cupcake out of the container.

The chocolate was not too overpowering. It was also moist.

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop @ Discovery Travel & Living Channel

Around two weeks ago, I got an email (those that you subscribe to a mailing list) from Discovery Travel & Living Channel. It was about a contest for Bob Blumer's fans to attend a cooking workshop. If you are like me, you will usually press the delete button for these 'win' something emails ya? But wait, I saw the name Bob Blumer and took a seond look. Hey, it's Bob Blumer, the toaster mobile guy on TV!

Then I remembered a few months ago, Lyrical Lemongrass had a night out with Bob too in KL. I happen to be emailing both HairyBerry and Lyrical Lemongrass about something else and I just drop this URL ( www.travelandlivingasia.com/bobblumer ) to HairyBerry. If you read HairyBerry's writing, you would know he writes really well. The competition needed contestants to describe in less than 60 words the best meal you had. (Hairy's the person to write, I somehow knew he will win it!)

I was too busy at work and I forgot about it! On 15 July morning, HairyBerry emailed and said he submitted it just on time before 12 midnight on the 14th July. It was then I realise I forgot! Arrghhh....

The next day, Nic was being nice and said don't worry, he most probably did not win because there was no call informing that he won. Then during lunch, I got an text message from him: "Dude, u wont believe dis! i won da bob blumer contest!" Wow! Was so happy for him. Then he said, he can't go because he's going on a makan road trip to Penang with some friends, and he will see if he can arrange for the tickets to be passed to me. How kind of him! Thanks Hairy! So, Momo and I got to go. Yey!

The day before, while I was on Facebook, AromaCookery chatted with me about it because I left a message about a cooking workshop I was going. She told me that she's being invited to go as well. She's being invited as a food blogger. (Julia is this famous food blogger that has fans everywhere, one of her fans was sitting beside us and she screamed when she met her idol - Aromacookery. hehe.) Later that night, I met TheBakerWhoCooks and Divine Essentials too! Both were also invited food bloggers.

So here we are, last Saturday night. We had no idea what's going to happen, so it was really a surprise!

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop

The event was held at-sunrice. I have always wanted to take a course here, but never did. Why? Their courses are held only during the day. I have to work during the day!

Anyway, when we went into the kitchen, we were delighted with the whiff of lemongrass scent. See the lemongrass boiling on the pot? (I love those mirrors where you can see what's inside the pot!)

If you are wondering how to make the lemongrass tea, here's the ingredients: Lemongrass, tea bags and sugar, with lots of crushed ice. Very nice!

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop

Everyone was so excited and cameras, DLSR, compact, phone cameras of all shapes and sizes were just snapping away. While waiting for Bob to appear, we were glancing at the recipes for the night.

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chicken Popsicles

Bob's a real entertainer. We were laughing the whole night away!

The way it goes is that he will demo, then the whole class (divided into groups of 4) will cook the same thing. Oh boy, the whole kitchen was mayhem. It was so so noisy, so so smokey, so so chaotic that Bob nearly went mad. LOL...

The first dish was Chicken Popsicles. He said it's really simple, it's his version of a glorified chicken mcnuggets. It tasted really good and yet it's so simple to prepare!

Here's the end product. How to make it look good? Just skewer the chicken pieces and stick it on a pineapple! Tada!

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chicken Popsicles

Hmm what's Bob doing? With some variation of kung-fu action, you can turn it into Kung-fu Chicken Popsicles! He's such a funny guy.

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chicken Popsicles

The chicken pieces were wonderful, it was tender and the herbs and Parmesan used made it a hundred times better than the stuff we get from the 'golden arches' store.

Bob continued to entertain us while he prepared the second dish. He was telling us about his latest series of Glutton for Punishment that's premiering on Thursday 23 July 2009, 10:30 pm.

He was telling us his secrets of winning the competitions on each episode of Glutton for Punishment. We really salute him! The things that he does to prepare and win the competition!

Before I went, I was catching preview of the episodes on Youtube of the season not shown in Asia yet. hehe... With the previews, whatever he said, make me want to catch the new season coming soon!

Here's Bob preparing the second dish: Coconut Shrimp Lollipops.
Hmm before he opens a coconut, is he doing some sort of ritual?

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Coconut Shrimp Lollypops

Did you think he karate chopped the coconut?

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Coconut Shrimp Lollypops

The coconut part's settled, so he's preparing the shrimps to look like a lollypop.
What a brilliant idea eh? Rolling the shrimps and skewering it to look like a lollypop.

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Coconut Shrimp Lollypops

The end product! Looks good ya?

The whole class then cooked the same thing after he demonstrated for us. It was lovely with the apricot ginger dip that he prepared for us. Yes, he made it look fanciful by sticking them into a watermelon!

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Coconut Shrimp Lollypops

How does it taste? The shrimps taste nice with the batter dipped with stringy coconut shavings. It tastes nicer with the Apricot Ginger Dip that has chilli padi in it!

Time passes so quickly when you are being entertained. You could see the person in charge (from Discovery) was trying her best to hurry everyone! Bob was nice, in order to let us try the last dish, he said he will demonstrate it, and the chefs from at-sunrice will prepare it for us instead! (Excellent idea!)

The third dish, the dessert dish is called Chocolate Kiss Wontons.

How to make it? You get a piece of wonton skin, spread peanut butter at the bottom, then a slice of banana. Top it up with a Hershey's Caramel kisses.

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chocolate Kisses Wonton

Wrap it up, shape it nicely and make sure there's no openings on the skin and deep fry it.

While he wraps, he told us we can all ask questions, anything! So many people asked lots of questions. Here's some answers that I am sure you would also like to know:
- The Toaster mobile's still around!
- He's decided that as he gets more mature, Marge Simpson's hairstyle does not suit him anymore. That's why it's shorter now. LOL..

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chocolate Kisses Wonton

These on the tray are done by the chefs. You know they are called chefs? So consistent and they follow exactly what Master Chef Bob tells them to do!

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chocolate Kisses Wonton

OK imagine this, you put the crispy wonton into your mouth. You bite it, and then the caramel, chocolate, peanut butter and banana oozes out. You get to savour the sweetness of all the ingredients, a hint of saltiness from the peanut butter, and oh... the melting chocolates. Divine isn't it?

Bob Blumer Cooking Workshop - Chocolate Kisses Wonton

Thanks to Nic, for transferring the tickets to me!

Thanks to Discovery Travel and Living too for bringing Bob Blumer aka Surreal Gourmet in and organizing this workshop. Continue to organise more workshops for your faithful viewers.

Ahem.. we would like to meet Jamie Oliver, Nigella or even the foul mouth Gordon Ramsey. What about Take Home Chef, Michael Smith and Kylie Kwong too. :-)

Sushi Tei @ China Square Central

This was our lunch last Saturday. Around 20 of us celebrated our friend "Gorilla's" birthday. We had lunch at Sushi Tei because most of us wanted Japanese. (haha.. what kind of friends are we? We did not ask him what he likes, but we chose the location by majority? Democracy? LOL)

We sat at two different tables because there's no way they can 'join' tables to get one big enough for all of us. It was also this place is convenient as we all had Bible Study classes nearby just before lunch.

It's just going to be a single post, not multiple posts with all the food we ate. It's just photo of food of people sitting just beside us.

The Sake Clams Soup. Momo said she wants to have this. So we shared this with two other friends beside us.

Sake Clams

We also shared these lovely giant scallops. I think the salty sauce over it has got me addicted to it!

Scallops

I had the Cold Ramen. Cold and refreshing indeed.

Cold Noodles

Momo had cold chasoba with salmon. Looks good too ya?

Salmon on Chasoba

MsHometeam was beside us and she had the Beef Sukiyaki.
Nice slices of beef.....

The steaming hot (you can see the steam ya!) of stock that you cook the beef in. She had it with a bowl of rice. Looks good ya.

Satay Power @ Lau Pa Sat

The Monday night 4 of us went for Satay supper because it has been so so long since we had Satay! The 4 of us were Momo, MsMHA, Gorilla and I.

Our favourite stall goes with the name of Satay Power. Don't ask us why, we just happen to like it from our last taste test of the many stalls. (no, we did not receive any free satay to say this. LOL)

satay power @ Lau Pa Sat

We ordered 4 chicken wings. We regretted. The wings were not tasty at all. For chicken wings, you still need to go inside the main building. I can't remember which stall inside.

(Pardon the neon-ish photos, we were sitting under neon street lamps, and I am too lazy to adjust the white balance and just wanna eat my satay. )

BBQ Chicken Wings

The Satay was quite all right. We ordered 30 sticks. 10 chicken, 10 mutton and 10 beef.

We liked the beef and chicken a lot that we ordered another 15 sticks of chicken and 15 sticks of beef.

Satay Power

The satay sauce. I love satay sauce but found this a little too thick. Guess what I did? The lemon from the chicken wings, squeeze the lemon juice in the satay. It will dilute the sauce a bit and the sauce will taste nicer too! (Some satay sauce add pineapple puree, adding lemon juice is a good alternative)

Dinner @ Friend's House

Our Care Group got invited to one couple from the group's home for lunch. It was the couple's 1st wedding anniversary and we were really honoured to be able to share their joy with them. Congratulations DG and WC on your first anniversary!

They prepared lunch for us. It was a sumptuous lunch with home cooked food, that's not easily available in Singapore. (You'll see why later... )

WC's specialty, Kopi O Gau Pork Ribs. It was very good that it disappeared almost instantly!

Kopi O Gao Pork Ribs

I said not easily available because we got to try more Indonesian food. It's not the usual Indonesian food you eat in restaurants. Previously DG prepared some Surabaya food (in this previous post), this time there's food from other Indonesian islands.

This is Indonesian Otak Otak. They looked like the local nyonya kueh.

Otak Otak

But when you open it up, it's definitely not any nyonya kueh you see.
This is how the Indonsian Otak Otak looks. For a fish lover, fish cakes are always lovely to me. ;-)

Otak Otak

The next dish is a Sulawesi dish. It's called Nyuknyang (in the Makassar language).
They looked like our usual meat ball soup ya?

Nyuknyang (In Makasa, Sulawesi language)

But when you take a look close up, you see the outer layer looks soft and chewy. The texture is really different. Very chewy indeed! It's cooked with vegetable soup.

Nyuknyang (In Makasa, Sulawesi language)

This is Rawon. (Surabaya Beef Stew) DG prepared this before. It's very tedious work to prepare this as he had to cook it a day earlier.

Rawon

For those who are not used to dishes from the various Indonesian islands, there's Japanese curry. ;-) Sis liked DG's version of Japanese curry very much!

Japanese Curry

The fresh salads to go with all the food above.

Salads

Salad greens

The salad goes with DG's collection of very exquisite olive oil and balsamic vinegar. These small little bottles are expensive!

DG's collection of exquisite olive oil and balsamic vinegar

Congratulations again DG and WC.
We are wondering... Junior coming soon? ;-)

Chilli Padi Nonya Cafe @ Heng Mui Keng Terrace

This place seems to be quite popular with the NUS and Science Park crowd at the moment. A few colleagues and I heard about it and went to 'check it out'.

It's located at Heng Mui Keng Terrace, which is inside NUS, next to the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.

Chilli Padi

Why is everyone here? Because of the opening specials! It seems if there's a 'economical' buffet around, people are all rushing there! We had the lunch buffet at $9.70 before GST.

Opening Promo

Not going to bore you all by showing everything. Here are some of the things we ate:

The Chwee Kueh and Orh Kueh.
The Chwee Kueh here is a little special as the kueh had chicken bits in it. The chai poh had sesame seeds too. The Orh Kueh was also popular with many colleagues.

Chwee Kueh n Orh Kueh

The Babi Assam. We think the pieces of meat are cut too small. haha..

Babi Assam

The Ayam Sio. (Instead of the usual Itik Sio hehe)

Ayam Sio

The Beef Rendang was very tender.

chillipadi6

The Chap Chye.

Chap Chye

Kueh Pai Tee was not bad too. Some colleagues find it troublesome to assemble it, they eat the ingredients separately. LOL..

Kuih Pai Tee

The Laksa.

Laksa

The Mee Siam.

Mee Siam

There was like 8 of us. Some think the Mee Siam is nicer, some the Laksa. For me, I think I prefer the more pungent laksa. The laksa is a bit 'healthy' according to another colleague.

There's also kueh kueh etc. We had to eat within 1 hour and get back to work, so we ate moderately. (hear some of you muttering... ya right!)

E-Sarn Thai Cuisine @ Sixth Avenue

This was dinner few days ago. Momo wanted to eat some Thai food. We did not want to travel too far. E-Sarn Thai Cuisine is not too far away from her house. So Momo, Gorilla and I settled for a quick dinner here.

The place was packed! It was good that we were there early. There were still available seats. Those who came 20 mins after us had to wait for tables or share tables. It seems that it might be good to reserve a table if you are coming here. They were so busy, it will take some time to entertain you after you get seated down.

Momo ordered the following for us. Thai Chicken Feet Salad. These boneless chicken feet were not too bad. But be careful of the spicy cili padi in it if you can't take spicy food. ;-) They were quite flavourful.

Chicken Feet Salad

This is beef with basil. Most people said the basil beef is nice here, but maybe the kitchen was a bit busy when we were there. Our beef was a bit tough, i.e. overcooked.

Beef with Basil

This grilled chicken however saved the previous dish. When we ordered this, we were told it will take 20 mins. They had to slowly grill it. It's worth the wait, as the 3 of us liked this grilled chicken dish. Crispy outside and it was quite flavourful inside.

Grilled Chicken

Baby Kailan that we ordered. Quite ordinary.

Stir Fried Kailan

We realised that we might have ordered the wrong things. We only got 2 above that we liked.

Now after doing an online search, if we come again, we would want to try the Nam Tok (Waterfall Beef) and their Grilled Pork (Kor Mu Yang) and what we saw the next table had, the Prawn with Tang Hoon.

Mee Tai Mak @ NUS Science Canteen

Have not had any post from the usual very economical food that colleagues and I have for our lunch. You know you can have so many combination of food from the sale stall. While I was deciding, I suddenly thought of the Lo Shi Fen / Mee Tai Mak that I had at a place called "Canteen" too.

This Mee Tai Mak at this canteen is 7 times cheaper though. LOL...

My order to the uncle selling was: "Lao Su Fen, Gan De, Niang Kuai, Chan Chan".
(Mee Tai Mak noodles, Dry Version, $2 (which is the large version of it), Mixed. )

Mixed (chan1 chan1) is for those who wants to have almost all the ingredient you can find on display counter at the stall. It's a pick of a tiny bit of everything. 1 fishball, a few ngor hiong slices, 1 wanton, 1 piece of fried wanton, few pieces of mushrooms, few pieces of char siu, few pieces of braised pork, some minced pork, etc.. Always looks satisfying!

Mee Tai Mak - Niang Kuai Chan Chan

For those who wondered what is "lao su fen" / "mee tai mak" / "niao zhi sai".
It's whitish fat and short noodles.

Bak Kut Teh & Kueh Chap Buffet @ Cafe at the Ridge

This was dinner a few nights ago at the Kent Ridge Guild House. I was feeling very hungry and exhausted around 6 pm. Was trying to finish up some work and get home. Along came an IM message from pirate: "Bak Kut Teh buffet, interested?"

The flesh was weak and wanted to go home. However the growling stomach sent signals to the brain which sent signals to the finger to type: "Yes" on the IM message.

It's a very economical buffet. Around $10.90 before GST and it has 20 over dishes. Click here to view the promo.

Here's what we (pirate, old cat and I) ate. Though we are hungry, we did not eat too much. In fact, I had half the portion of Kueh Chap. It was quite good. It was very smooth and the soup has this tiny bit of sweetish taste to it.

Kueh Chap

Some Stewed Pork and Eggs that we had.

Stewed Pork and Eggs

There was like 20 over things, but we only took like 4 or 5 of it.

Some of the 20 over buffet dishes

We were more interested in the Bak Kut Teh. It's the peppery soup kind.

It was huge chunks of pork ribs. Below the ribs are pork liver, small intestines, tao pok. This was the earlier bowls. Subsequent bowls, they only had 2 pieces of the meat and the pork liver etc all on top to make it look nicer.

(We think the main chef came out and did spot check on presentation. LOL)

Bak Kut Teh

We did not want to have the stuffed, "over eaten" kind of feeling, so we only had 4 pieces of meat each, a few of the side dishes and a bowl of kueh chap.

We though it's already worth around 10 bucks if we have eaten the same thing outside. We are very disciplined eh?

It's only for dinner in the month of July at Cafe on the Ridge, NUSS Guild House. (so grab a friend who is a member to bring you in.)

Five Star Kampong Chicken Rice @ Cheong Chin Nam Road

This was dinner with a group of Year 12 / Pre-U friends just the other week. We used to meet every month, but everyone got busy with so many things, we did not have time to meet up. So we decided to meet up again.

While thinking of where to go, there was this repeated food programme on TV that help me decide. It was one where Fiona Xie and Gurmit Singh was on. Gurmit was introducing his favourite Chicken Rice from Five Star. OK lah! Since Gurmit likes it, we like it to! haha..

There were 11 adults and 3 kids this time. Some could not make it last minute, a family was on home quarantine, one just delivered a newborn baby, etc... But there's this big tables available at Five Star. So big and round that the table can fit all of us!

Those who were early did the ordering. We just flipped through the menu and decided on what to eat by what gets our eye's attention. So here's what we ate:

We had "half half". Half a Roast Kampung Chicken.

Five Star "Roast" Kampung Chicken

And half a 'White' Kampong Chicken.
We realise that the white chicken is more popular! When the white chicken's gone, there's still half the 'roast' ones.

Five Star "White" Kampung Chicken

The Salad You Tiao. Medium Portion.
Fried You Tiao always seem to a hit eh?

Salad You Tiao

When we ordered the Thai Style Crystal Chicken Feet, some were skeptical that anyone will eat it. So we ordered a small portion of it. Well, the skeptics did like it and were converted! If you never tried chicken feet before, try it!

Thai Style Crystal Chicken Feet

Ngo Hiang Prawn Rolls. The kids can eat it too.

Ngo Hiang Prawn Rolls

Sweet Potato Leaves with Garlic. Another dish that when you order, always suits most people's tastes.

Sweet Potato Leaves with Garlic

We thought we would order some seafood, so we had the cereal prawns. We took cereal prawns so that the kids can eat it too.

Cereal Prawn

The Hainanese Mei Cai with Braised Pork. OK lah...

Hainanese Mei Cai with Braised Pork

The Fried Sotong. Sorry for the blurish looking photo.
It's not too bad. The sotong was not that chewy. But I think a few minutes more it will. Some pieces were on the 'border line' cases. haha..

Fried Sotong

It was great to meet up with everyone again. It seems the next meeting date has been confirmed too! See you all at the next outing!

Yakiniku Rice @ Mos Burger

I do indulge in fast food once in a while. I have not been to Mos Burger for a long long time. This was a quickly lunch with my teenage cousin. She said that what we are gonna eat is really really nice.

I thought I will save on calories and ordered Diet Coke. Ah Pui! So synthetic tasting. But the design of the made is bearable. LOL. Their design on the cups are so simple and yet it looks nice ya? It's what I call a 'muji' look.

Mos Burger

If you like thin fries, most people will say go for McDonald's fries.
If you like real potato and not processed flour shaped into fries, go to Carl's Jr.
But if you like thick fries, or some call it chips, then you should go for Mos Burger's.

Mos Burger Fries

They are quite tasty chips.

But they are not as nice as the ones in KFC Australia. Eating these chips suddenly reminds me of the KFC Australia chips my classmates and I used to eat in Melbourne. Their chips are topped with onion, salt, garlic, pepper and sugar powder. They taste absolutely delicious! (Anyone who has eaten them?)

Mos Burger Fries

OK, back to Mos Burger. This is the burger that my cousin said is really nice. The Yakiniku Rice burger. It's packed so nicely too!

Yakiniku Rice

When you open the wrapper, you get to see juicy and yummy beef!

But they are packed in a way that the meat's all on top. It takes skills to eat this burger so that your last mouth will still have meat and rice. I am not one of the skilled ones. I end up eating the beef first and ended with two slices of rice cakes.

Only teenagers like my cousin who eat this often know how to eat it till your last mouth has still some beef and rice cakes.

Yakiniku Rice

You can get them at Mos Burger outlets island wide. They have shrimp burgers too, but my cousin said, nah, those are not nice. hehe..

Rong Teochew Fish Porridge @ Amoy Street Food Centre

This was lunch with some BSF friends at Amoy Street Food Centre last Saturday.

Dino and Momo wanted to eat the Raw Fish Porridge at the Food Centre, so all of us decided to just sit in front of the stall itself.

Rong Teochew Fish Porridge at Amoy Street Food Centre

They ordered a two person portion of the raw fish porridge. $6.
Fish porridge that has so much greens on top is quite unusual eh?

Two Persons portion of Raw Fish

They had a bowl of the plain porridge each.
Hmm... How can plain porridge look delicious? By adding some chopped parsley and fried onions on top. haha..

Porridge with little bit of toppings

I ate Curry Rice, but after finishing my rice, I saw Dino and Momo were still slowly enjoying their raw fish. Staring at their plate of fish made me hungry. (What a glutton! I hear some of you say)

Guess what? I ordered a single portion of the same raw fish. $3
I was tempted by it. (Excuse was the Curry Rice was not substantial)

Single Person portion of Raw Fish

I also had the plain porridge as well. Dino and Momo ate the raw fish and the porridge separately. For me, I mix the fish and veg with the lime. Gave it a good stir and then I stirred the mix into my hot porridge. That gentle heat on the porridge made the mix smell really good! hehe...

Porridge with little bit of toppings

Our friend Gorilla was with us too. He was also eating Curry Rice. He was also hungry after his curry rice and when he saw me ordering the fish, he too was tempted.

He ordered a single portion too, but without porridge. He and MrMFA picked on the raw fish. Everyone was happy. ;-p

How do you eat your raw fish? You mix them like me? Or you eat them separately like Dino and Momo?

Ju Shin Jung Korean Charcoal BBQ @ YESS Centre (III)

Ok, the final installment of the Korean Food we had.

Here are the set meals we had. Sometimes we wonder how we managed to eat up everything! The sets comes with rice too. Sets costs around $10 I think.

Here's what we had:
Mrs JSFR had the Deep Fried Saba Fish. Looks good ya?

Deep Fried Saba Fish

Dpuk one of the birthday boy had the Spicy Chicken Soup.

Spicy Chicken Soup

Three colleagues had this. The Dolsot Bibimbap. They always look good right? Another of the birthday boy, "wire" had this.

Dolsot

Yet another birthday boy, "Old Cat" had the Clear Beef Soup.
He was just raving about how tender the beef is. hehe..

Clear Beef Soup

I had something totally different. Cold Noodle with Soup.
Hmm, this has got to be an acquired taste. LOL. The noodles are extremely chewy! It looks like 'mee suah', but it has the texture of super super 'q' noodles. The soup's icy cold too! There's a slice of meat (hidden below the egg) and a slice of pear! How unique.

Cold Noodle with Soup

To end it all, we had heart shaped watermelon.

Heart Shaped Watermelon

Plus the cloudy rice soup. What Dpuk always say, water from rinsed rice. (haha)
This ShikHye is sweeter here the ones we tasted elsewhere. The cold and sweet taste is really nice.

Sweet Soup

After the meal, it was the reveal. When we came, 'Wire' had tricked 'WP' that these are Korean mints. Pop it in your mouth after the meal. lol... (We managed to keep ourselves from laughing for so long!)

Paper Towel

When it's ready to eat the mint, 'we are to pour water' over the mint.
And the mint expanded into a mini wet towel. LOL...
'WP' and 'Dpuk' did not use theirs, and brought it back to entertain (or tricked) their wives and children. LOL...

Paper Towel

Happy Birthday to Old Cat, Dpuk and Wire.

For those asking how much it was, the meal's $180.45 all inclusive.
It's for 7 set meals, plus 3 a-la-carte dishes.

Ju Shin Jung Korean Charcoal BBQ @ YESS Centre (II)

Continuation from yesterday's post.

We were told by some friends that those side meals are not fill up your tummy. They are to be eaten as side dishes to complement the mains. But, just like most people in Singapore, we just eat them like mini mains. They are so tasty right? The more you eat them, the more you want it!

What else did we eat? We each ordered a set meal, but being a birthday celebration, some of us wanted more food. (We are like gluttons aren't we?) A few colleagues came out with a list of things to order, but we knew it's going to be too much food, so we compromised to cut it down to 3 items.

Here's what we shared: The Kimchi Pancake. Some of us liked it, some seemed to be disgusted by it. LOL I think it's quite unique though. ;-)

Kimchi Pancakes

The Beef Tongue.

Our order of Beef Tongue (WOOSUL)

The server cooked it for us. When the beef tongue's cooking, our human tongues was wiping our lips. It was smelling very good.

The Beef Tongue being grilled

It not only smell good, it tasted good. The word tongue might just put some of you off, but you should try it. It has a very nice texture. Dip it with the sauces provided and you will like it.

Grilled Beef Tongue

We also shared the Pork Belly.
(A colleague said you can take away the Ginseng Soup, but you can't take away the Pork Belly. LOL)

Pork Belly (SAMGYUB)

Here it is being grilled on the BBQ. The server will then cut it using the scissors into smaller pieces.

Pork Belly on the BBQ

It shrinks! We were gasping when we saw the meat getting smaller. haha...
The fat's melting away, giving it a pleasing aroma.

Delicious Pork Belly being grilled

A few minutes later, it is ready! You eat it by wrapping it with the salad (2 photo of yesterday's post, the photo with the long plate with lots of greens). Add it with the sauces and it taste absolutely yummilicious!.

Grilled Pork Belly

Two sauces that each one has.

Sauce / Dips for the Grilled Meats

Enough calories for today's post. (LOL!)
Will post the set meals we had for the next post.

[Side distraction]
Those Korean drama lovers, are you all addicted to this new Korean drama on TV? It is called Grand Chef 食客. (link is to Starhub TV) Sis and I are getting addicted to it. Everytime there's a Korean Drama that's food related, we seemed to be yearning for Korean Food. LOL

It's showing very late at night on the weekends, so we are watching it via Video On Demand (VOD) on more sane hours. (For those who don't know, if you subscribe to certain channels, you get VOD free, the show on VV Channel is one of them.)

Ju Shin Jung Korean Charcoal BBQ @ YESS Centre (I)

This was our birthday celebration for 3 colleagues. We have been planning to visit a place where all of us have not gone to for the longest time. After some time, we all decided to visit Ju Shin Jung Korean Charcoal BBQ for a nice Korean meal.

We have been impressed with their selection of side dishes when we visited before. (Can't verify if it's true, but we thought there used to have even more kinds of side dishes last time. We did not take photos the last time!)

But we tonguues were stimulated by the Pumpkin Soup that was served not long after we sat down. It's nice! So sweet and fragrant.

Pumpkin Soup

Then all the salads and side dishes started arriving...
This salad is for the BBQ meats.

Salad for the BBQ Meat

All of us got this onions starters. I kinda like this. (I am an onion guy! haha).
Some colleagues did not even touch a single slice of onion. LOL

Onions Pickles

Each one also had a bowl of this cold savoury and sweetish soup. I also liked this. The more you eat this, the more your appetite increases!

Cold Starters

Then the side dishes started appearing. The Kimchi Tofu that's really good.

Kimchi Tofu

The Kimchi Cabbage. This is the more 'raw' version of the kimchi.

Kimchi Cabbage

Kimchi Cucumber is always so tasty!

Kimchi Cucumber

The only vegetable on the table that's not pickled. Someone actually asked if they have the big head sprouts. But they don't serve it here.

Non pickle veg!!

Ah.. Kimchi oh Kimchi...

Kimchi

Can't show everything individually. There are other things you can see here.

Our table full of only side dishes!

The other side of the table. By just eating the side dishes before the main dishes came, we were already full!

One other colleague also turned food photographer that day. He was testing out his new lenses. ;-) He's the guy standing up. Love his wide angle lense that could take the whole table's view from the top. (I can only take two separately.)

Don Quijote @ Lorong Kilat (Part II)

Welcome to Part II of our adventure to a Spanish restaurant.

These tapas served in this small brown platters reminds me of Spain. My parents and I went to the Andalucia region in Spain last year, and these food we ate reminded me of the trip. We sure enjoyed the tapas there. Tapas reminded us of the Dim Sum we had back home.

You know how come Dim Sum places have 'carts' that move around to serve you Dim Sums? When we were in Spain, they had people walking around with all these little brown plates on a huge serving platter. They stop by the tables and you can pick what you want. (Just like dim sum carts right?)

Back to what we ate at Don Quijote. This is some salad. Forgot the name of it. Just call it by the generic name: Ensalada.

Ensalada

Revuelto de Espárragos y Gambas (Scrambled Eggs with Asparagus and Shrimp)
This was not bad, I wonder why we did not order more of this? Maybe we preferred the shrimp and mushrooms?

Revuelto de Espárragos y Gambas

Patatas Bravas (Potatoes fried in a spicy Tomato-Chilli Sauce)
Some carbo to go. We also had another carbo dish, pasta with beef, but the photos came out bad, so it's not here.

Patatas Bravas

Manitas de Cerdo con Garbanzos (Stewed Pigs Feet with White Beans)
The ladies were not interested in this, but I secretly ordered it. LOL. It turned out quite nice. Momo also find it nice. The trotters have already been stewed till they are really really soft. The broth is nice too!

Manitas de Cerdo con Garbanzos

Chorizo Asado (Barbequed Spanish Chorizo Sausage)
Some spanish sausages that reminded us of 'lap cheong'. ;-)

Chorizo Asado

Calamares Fritos (Fried Battered Squid served with House Sauce)
Not too bad, one plate was nicely done, another was a bit tough. But generally quite ok.

Calamares Fritos

This is Pisto Castellano (Mixed Vegetable Stew).
This brinjal soup turns out quite nice.

Pisto Castellano

This is the last thing we ate: Pudín de Pan y de la Mantequilla (Bread and Butter Pudding).
Quite delicious and a good end to our buffet.

Pudin de Pan y de la Mantequilla

We love the colourful Spanish plates.

Pudin de Pan y de la Mantequilla

We had so much food. Never underestimate skinny girls. They can eat!
The buffet's on Sunday Afternoon from 11.30 am - 2.30 pm. We went there at 1 pm!

We paid $33 per person for the option with free flow of soft drinks. There's also a $48 version with free flow of Sangria and Wine and $62 with free flow of Sangria de Cava. We had this in June, so you can call them up if it's still on in July.

Don Quijote @ Lorong Kilat (Part I)

Few Sundays ago, iPhoneGirl recommended us to another place that we should try it out. The ladies - Momo, Dino, MsMHA and iPhoneGirl were meeting up to plan their upcoming trip. I was just there to eat. :-)

The place that was recommended is Don Quijote at Lorong Kilat. Hmm I just realized that Lorong Kilat is becoming quite 'happening' with so many new discoveries!

Don Quijote at Lorong Kilat

We were here on a Sunday afternoon because there's a Sunday Brunch Buffet. So here's what we had:

This Creme de Setas (aka Mushroom Soup) is nice. It looks very smooth, but when you put some in your mouth, you can still taste the mushrooms, and lots of it. We had many helpings of this!

Creme de Setas

Crema de Calabaza y Puerros (Cream of Pumpkin & Leek). It's nice to me, but the ladies seems to prefer the mushroom.

Creme de Calabaza y Puerros

I am bad with Spanish names, so I am just guessing them with their online menu. LOL.

Tortilla Espanola. (Spanish Style Eggs Stuffed with Potatoes)
When it came out, we thought they were all eggs, until we ate it. It's potatoes! Reminds us of rosti.

Tortilla Espanola

This is Rollitos de Repollo con Arroz (Rice, Bacon & Nuts rolled in Cabbage).

MsMFA seems love this, she calls this "He Ye Fan" (Lotus Leaf Rice). It does taste like it, except that it's wrapped with cabbage. Cabbage is edible whilst Lotus Leaves are not. We had many helpings of this.

Rollitos de Repollo con Arroz

Aguacate con Cangrejo (Crab and Scallop Meats made into a dip and served in a Half Avocado)
MsMFA and iPhoneGirl seems to like this. I find it a bit 'fishy' ;-)

Aguacate con Cangrejo

I can't remember the name of this dish, and I can't find the name on their online menu. It's chicken with red/green peppers with toothpicks.

pollo

We (except Dino) loved this, we ate so much of this, we were a bit embarrassed to order more. Setas al Ajillo (Garlic Fried Mixed Mushrooms).

Setas al Ajillo

Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic Fried Shrimp)
Another of our favourites. Who can get sick of garlic shrimps??

Gambas al Ajillo

Alitas de Pollo al Ajillo con Salsa Picante (Chicken Wings in a Garlic-and-Chilli Sauce)
This is Momo's favourite. She really loves her chicken wings! We ate quite a lot of this, I think 5 chicken had to be sacrificed to provide us the wings. LOL... We like the Picante Salsa on the fried chicken. Yummy.

Alitas de Pollo al Ajillo con Salsa Picante

We had more food. I shall continue with Part II tomorrow ;-)
