A colleague drove us out for a quick lunch yesterday. Our destination was the Margaret Drive Food Centre.
What did we have? The famous Chicken Rice of course! It's on the upper floor of the food centre. Though there's not many stalls on this level, but that does not mean the place is empty. The tables are all occupied with chicken rice lovers.
(I was sitting a bit far and was too lazy to walk nearer to take a proper photo of the stall)
If you notice that there's only 1 chicken hanging there, it always is. When you order, they will bring out the chicken from a container. :-)
Our chicken... the big plump juicy chicken with sesame oil and light soy.
(It makes me wonder how the Poulet de Bresse will taste like)
And our rice....
Portions of chicken for 3 with 3 plates of rice, $13.

"If you notice that there's only 1 chicken hanging there, it always is. When you order, they will bring out the chicken from a container." LOL! :)
I think if they use Poulet de Bresse, your chicken rice for 3 will not cost $13, probably 5X as much?
Ape tu 'Poulet de Bresse'? Me just eat normal ayam leh... :P
Aiyoh... we've given up eating at this place. The staff taking the orders will just give us whatever they like regardless of what we ordered. Once, we told the old guy don't want any breast meat, but when the dish came, it was made up of mostly breast meat. We told them to take it back and give us what we wanted. They did, and all of it was bony parts. O.k., their business is so good that they can tekan customers like that. But with the economy in turmoil like now, let's see how long this stupid shop can last.
Wow, this shop is still around! It must have been at least 12 years that i last ate here :P I was still schooling then, and this shop was always packed!
The Shanghai stall in that hawker centre is also awesome moresome!!!
:D
ice,
i always wanted to try poulet de bresse mah.. hehe...
LFB,
The more normal the ayam, the less risk of additive feed like melamine! make sense? Hmmm
LIS,
ooo... someone really not happy with them. you are like my aunt. she does not like breast meat of chicken. think maybe just specify next time. I want drumsticks and wings only. hehe..
momo,
it's still packed. was told the owner's not managing the stalls anymore. it seems the previous employees took over the stall. wonder if this is true.
beatrice,
yes, just posted it up. :-)
what a coincidence, I went there on Monday and was dissapointed as it was closed. Awww, now I feel like just going down for this chicken rice. I had to compensate with 4 seasons chicken rice, which does not come close to this one!
Hi,
The stall is not the original Sin Kee. The original Sin Kee knows their "brand" was being exploited but said there's nothing they can do about it.
boo_licious,
Come again and hopefully it will be opened.
Cookie,
Ya, we heard something similar. The story we heard was that the workers that helped the original Sin Kee retired and the workers decided to take over and operate it. Hmm is that the correct version?
The original owner now in Mei Ling Street food centre. Not sure how they broke up though. But biz in mei ling is pretty quiet, esp after the recent upgrading..... Not many realized that they are back in biz!
Ooo. Thanks for the info LKY.
Have a colleague who stays near Mei Ling St. Will ask her to try it and maybe we will go visit too. :-)
