Buffet Dinner @ The Arts House

Earlier tonight, I was at the Opening of the Singapore Writers Festival. After the speeches, reciting of poems, a dance, etc, there was the food!

Frankly speaking, I have no idea why I was there! What's a food blogger doing at a writer's festival. My sis laughed when I told her about the Writers Festival. She complains about the grammar, spelling etc on my blogs. (She's an English and Music teacher, so... you know lah...) How can? how can you be there! 'siah suay leh'. Sorry lah, I post everyday, so I just type what's on my mind, you are like reading my drafts everyday.

Anyway, there was a huge huge crowd queueing for food. The only person that I know was Cheryl (The Baker Who Cooks) that I started to communicate few days ago. :-p

I usually don't take buffet photos, but am using it as an excuse to do a 'shameless plug' of this Sunday's event at the Arts House. (We were told by the organizers, to tell your friends, tell your friends...)

Am I a glutton? So much food on the plate. Asparagus with Mushrooms, Rendang, Kuey teow, Mango salad...

Wasabi prawn salad, tandoori chicken or was it fish, etc...

It's actually quite delicious. It's catered from Restaurant 1827 Thai, which is situated in the Arts House itself. Maybe one day I shall have dinner there.

So.... see you at:
F-logging – The Fine Art of Food Blogging
Sun 2 Dec 2007 | 5pm – 6pm | Earshot, The Arts House
Featuring: Cheryl Chia (BakerWhoCooks), Keropok Man (Singapura Daily Makan) and Aun Koh (Chubby Hubby)

Central Hong Kong Cafe @ Takashimaya Shopping Centre

This afternoon, a few colleagues had something to settle, so we followed them to Ngee Ann City. Just nice, another colleague who is on reservist pop by too, for a meeting. So, we set off to town in two cars, and had to quickly enter the CBD before 12 to avoid the ERP. LOL..

We settled to eat at Central. This place used to have 'snaking' queue, but when we were there, it was quite empty. We also heard that food here's not as salty as it used to be when it first opened. haha..

After we finish, people checking out the menu.

I had the Stewed Beef noodles. The bowl looked unique! hahaa..

Two colleagues ate the beef kuey teow.

One ate the Pork Chop tomato with sunny side up rice. She had to wait quite long though...

Two other colleagues had the fried rice. Actually, they did not know it would be fried rice! haha.. It was suppose to be Roast Pork something rice, but err, what Roast Pork. LOL..
I guess it looked tasty too.

After that, we split up into two groups, with 2 colleagues went to settle their stuff, while the other had their meeting at Coffee Bean. *boring* *yawn* haha...

Sushi Tei @ Ngee Ann City

Was shopping with sis a few days ago and all the walking and carrying the 'spoils' around made us tired. Where can we find a place to sit down and not waste time? We decided to have an early dinner, before 6 pm.

It's early, so we had a small meal. I ordered Yakitori Don. $8
Sis 'taxed' some of my food.

She had her Sashimi. 3 pcs of each as you see below. $12

Sis also ordered Kani Mentai. $5. It's Crab, as you see below.

Not too bad lah.

We paid using the Sushi Tei card, which comes with a 10% discount.

If you have the Sushi Tei JCB Credit Card, have you heard that they are stopping the card soon? Colleagues who used it were also told when they paid using the card last week. Wonder what will happen to our cards.

Ajisen @ Plaza Singapura

It seems that these few weeks, Plaza Singapura seems to be where I frequent. Hmmm I wonder why?

Anyway, for Sunday's lunch, we were wondering what to eat, and we ended up at Ajisen. How predictable too when we decided to order food. The same people who usually eats the same food ordered the same thing. Haha..

Except for this, Salmon Sashimi ($6.80)that came quite pretty eh.

Uncle had Tom Toro Ramen. Pork slices.

Cousin and aunt shared the Pai Ku Ramen. I love the paiku!!!

I ordered the Tomato Ramen yet again! I love the taste of it, I dunno why!

Shall not show the side dishes ya. Same same all the time. So predictable too. All the sets are $13.80, which consist of 1 Ramen dish, 1 side dish and 1 drink.

There was this promotion thingy. New dishes and here it is. Ika Meshi. ($8.80)
It's Sotong stuffed with rice. I think you need to have an acquired taste for this.

When I was paying, the cashier was asking if we liked the Ika Meshi.
Aunt loved it, uncle so so, I dun like. That's why I don't put ratings on food. Everyone has different taste! haha..

The cashier said some people loved it, others left the dish untouched after one bite. I think Ajisen will do well, since they ask people what they think. Haha..

Azabu Sabo Hokkaido Ice Cream @ Plaza Singapura

Oh no... I think I am been eating too much ice cream!

Yesterday, sis and I went for a early Christmas shopping for gifts for relatives. We thought we could beat the crowds and there's some pretty decent sales. Unbelievably, we got discounts just for asking, and hey it was from places like Takashimaya and Isetan. (Really!)

Anyway, we were all over Orchard Rd, we had a tea break at Plaza Singapura. Sis wanted something cold, I suggested McDonalds cones, coz I for some reason love them, she said no. Not wasting calories on them.

So she treated me ice cream, she shared ice cream with a recovering ill bro. She had earlier seen this Hokkaido Ice Cream at the basement and wanted to try it.

Green tea with red bean plus Tiramisu.

No comments about the ice cream though. haha. maybe my tastebud's a bit off due to the Paracetamol and Phenylephrine from yesterday's post.

For those like me who have to clear lots of work before the end of year, work hard!

Porridge @ Home

It's the flu season, not sure how many people you know are falling sick, but I was a near victim of it. Maybe a victim, cause I was so tired, feeling very uncomfy all over, with semi blocked nose as well.

So, what was my diet? Lemsip! Plus lots and lots of water and Vit C. I think I got lemsip because of the adverts on TV. I am a TV addict. LOL..

Sick man's food? Porridge.
With whatever that can be found in the fridge. Broccoli and Eggs.
How boring? Add in some Thai Dried Shrimps. These are yummy, mum and sis bought it from Bangkok when they went there for holidays.

Take care everyone!

Nasi Singapura House of Lontong @ Adam Road Food Centre

It has been a long time since colleagues and I went to Adam Road to have lunch. It's funny, when we decide to go there, everyone will say, I want to order the Ayam Merah. But when we reach there, only 1 person end up ordering it.

Does that happen to you too? Everyone decide want to eat something, but when we are there, everyone suddenly change their minds and eat something else.

Anyway, this is the store go to. You queue up for food, get the food, the lady at the stall will tell you how much it is, but you don't pay her. You pay to this most of the time grouchy lady sitting on the eating table right in front of the stall.

The Ayam Merah, I guess this photo might have been better taken from the other angle. haha..

I ended up having Assam Fish instead.

Another colleague who is eyeing other food after this, ordered only sides and no mains! Unless you consider egg a main dish. haha..

We also had Sup Kambing from another stall. Yummmm.
Have a good weekend!

Desserts : Aji Tei @ Takashimaya Basement

Last Sunday, Sis had to conduct the choir rehearsal so we ate first. She told her we will be walking around Taka, so she headed to Aji Tei to have lunch. We joined her, but for desserts.

What did we call?
Kakigori Mango. $5.80
I like the red bean on top. hehe. It's like a Jap version of ice kacang with mango.

We wanted to try more things, so there is this Sagamo Set. $8.80
With this set, we had Anmitsu. OK, I am not sure what exactly the names are. But they were interesting enough to eat.

You can see nata de coco, peaches, red bean paste, chewy colourful balls and colour chewy pieces as well. (I think the chewy stuff are varieties of rice dumplings)

Then there is Sweet Soya Dango.
Yes, that sauce over it is sweet soya over rice dumpling, it's quite tasty!

And Macha Ice Cream on corn flakes.

Oh, if you are wondering where it is, it's at Basement 2, just beside Cold Storage.

Prego @ Raffles The Plaza

Tonight, I went with Momo, my co-blogger, to have dinner. We settled to have dinner at Prego. It has been quite some time since we came here.

One thing about Prego, is the nice warm bread they serve you when you arrive. You can have it with the tomato-ish dip they have (hidden behind the bread in the picture, haha) or have it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

For appetizer, we shared this. I ordered this because I read about someone preparing this for her guest. 20 month old Proscuitto with Rock Melon and aragula. $26. Absolutely delicious! There's fig paste hidden behind the aragula. (must warn that the parma ham's salty! haha)

Momo had squid ink pasta with lobster. $38

OK, I had to take the pix of the lobster again. haha...

I had pumpkin ravioli. $25
Doesn't look very delicious visually, but it taste good in the mouth!
If you like creamy stuff ;-P

Used the "Feed at Raffles" card and we got 50% food, when 2 person dines. So, whatever the price you see, divide by half. Isn't it better to eat here then elsewhere?

Uncle Soup @ Engineering Canteen, NUS

As they say, you can get value for money eats in NUS Canteens. Colleagues and I, we headed to the Engine Canteen yesterday.

Not feeling 100% well, so decided to have some soupy stuff, another colleague too had this. We saw that there's a new stall. Uncle Soup. What a 'cute' name.

The Ginseng Chicken soup is not bad at all. Comparable to the food court ones, but not the food court prices. It's only $3.50

Rice extra 30 cents, forget the rice. We both did not finish our rice.
The other colleague had Indian food that he was craving. haha...

Raffles Creamery @ Raffles Hotel

If you have been following the last few day's photos, right after dinner, we had ice cream. Raffles Creamery is just outside the door of Seah St Deli, in the courtyard.

Save me explaining, you can read it here:

The next few photos are smaller photos (for quicker loading) of the process of 'tepanyaki-ing' the ice cream.

Our friend ordered a triple scoop, so 3 scoops of ice cream here.

Mashing and chopping....

More violently as it goes...

Is it mixed well yet? Not quite... Add in the toppings....

Spread it all on the freezer pan to cool the mixture, and to mix is well.

Hmmm with the scrapper that the person is using, wonder if he had prior experience in the cement industry.

More chopping! And rounding it up into a lump.

The lump is then scoop into the cup.

The butterscotch wet topping on top to finish it up.

Here's a video of them making the one I had.
Some exotic vanilla, gummy bears and granola cereal as toppings. I think it's a good job for those who likes to vent their anger! haha..

video

Yes, all of us ate inside the Deli, it was just too warm outside.

Not the best ice cream you can get, but the fun / wah! factor is there.

Seah Street Deli @ Raffles Hotel (Part II)

Continuation from yesterday.

We talked about kids friendly place right yesterday? Haha.
This is called kids friendly, they give crayons and paper for colouring.

No, the real kids didn't do this. It's the big kids who coloured it. LOL...

Sis actually wanted to order the Baby Ribs that she loves from this place. Aiya of all aiyahs! Don't have! So... she ordered Lamb Shanks instead. 18.50

We had a friend who came back to Singapore too, he order salah lah. Come back from Ang Moh country, order fried chicken. oops. 17.50

I can't remember who ordered this. hehe.. Salmon Steak 18.95
2 person ordered this.

This is what I ordered. Shoulder Pork Stew. 19.00
Not too bad lah. Something different. Usually stew is beef right?

Sicilian Chicken 18.00
I have no idea who ordered this too. haha..

Mrs JY ordered this. Oxtail Stew. 22.00
Seems that 2 person ordered this.
Mrs JY, how it taste ah?

We also had 2 orders of Hamburger, 2 Elvis Burger etc, but aiya, table so long, so far, did not take them. Next time perhaps :-)

Seah Street Deli

Guess what's for tomorrow? We all had ice cream after dinner! Yes Ice Cream again.
Raffles Creamery which you can order from just outside in the courtyard and eat inside here.

Seah Street Deli @ Raffles Hotel

Yesterday, it was our Monthly Makan Sessions with friends. We usually celebrate people's birthday and use it as an opportunity to meet up.

(Hmmm just wondering, if there are anyone that knows us and wanna join us!. We started as people related to OCF Parkville. People got married and added spouses and kids, so now we are a good mix of people from all over. Last nite, we had 2 guests from OCF MU. If you can decode OCF, Parkville, MU, let's keep in contact!!)

This month we met at Seah St Deli. Around 20 over of us. Why we ended up here? Because it fits our criteria:
- Central (we live all over, got north, south, east, west pple)
- Air Conditioned (else the kids will make noise, and a few 'yin chim' pple too)
- Kid friendly place (we got 5 kids in our midst)
- Cheap parking for drivers (there's a per entry only $1.50 parking nearby, if you don't know)
- Near to MRT (for those taking public transport)
- Price range OK (coz we foot the birthday's boys/girls meal. 3 this month! haha..)
- Credit Card discounts available (you also want this right? don't aiyo us ok?)

(next time must have another criteria, place that is bright enough to take photos! today's photos all not sharp at all, due to the so called ambience lighting. haha..)

We state in mail out that we will start on time. So, when we arrive, we order! haha.. (can't penalise those who arrive early right?)

The kids has to be fed first. Kids Cheeseburger! Nice ya? $7.50

We give grace to pple who are late, so we start with appetizers.
Big onion rings. $8.95

Buffalo Wings. yum... $11.95

Potato Skins. $10.95

Ah.. Wedges. $5.50
It reminded a lot of us about the 'cheapskate' food we had to eat while we were all studying. We used to buy bags of this stuff, chuck it in the oven and finish them up watching TV. (ABC, SBS, 7, 9, 10 - more codes to decode!)

For mains, Mrs C had Rueben. Reuban sandwich consists of beef pastrami, sauerkraut, wholegrain mustard and melted Swiss cheese on grilled rye bread. $17.95

One of the birthday boy had Rib Eye Steak. $22.50
We had 3 orders of this.

The picture of the 2nd same dish. From a totally different angle, looks weird huh? Dr J had this.

Chope. Haha as usual, too many photos liao, continue tomorrow....

Nasi Briyani @ Tanglin Halt

Yesterday for lunch, we had an arrangement to bring some paper for recycling at Faith Methodist Church at Commonwealth. A friend of ours is from that church and is trying to help the Chinese Congregation in their fund raising activities. So, we dropped off the load of newspaper and magazines there and headed to next door Tanglin Halt for lunch.

We wanted to try out the Koufu that just opened, but decided, why not the old shops nearby. A colleague who is staying right in Tanglin Halt says there's this Nasi Briyani stall there that has a perpetual long queue. (He says the prices have raised two times in the last few months! haha.. he was not happy)

Anyway, we walked over to Block 49 and there you can see the long queue. The long queue is for 'ta pow', if you are eating there, you order from the lady straight and get to eat quite soon.

For me personally, I have to disagree with the queue. haha...

I was thinking of the Nasi Briyani in Batu Pahat instead. The famous "Mohd Shah Briyani" or the equally famous "Nasi Briyani Power Gam". Any of you tried that before? If you have, all the different Singapore one, errr... nuff said. :-p

Megumi Japanese Restaurant @ Sunset Way

Yesterday another colleague at the other end of campus said let's go Sunset Way, see see what we can eat there. Hey, there's a direct bus there, and takes only a few minutes, so why not?

We walked around and found that almost all the places are closed except for 3 or 4 shops. It's a nite time place, not an afternoon makan destination. hehe..

Either HK Cafe or Japanese, we picked the Jap. Why? We think it's the same shop that appeared in ieatishootipost. (checking back, it is!)

It's we think the smallest shop amongst the rows of shops there. But it has a huge al-fresco place outside. You can see why card has discounts here :-)

I had to take this. It's my middle chinese name! haha..

We ordered individual meals, but we shared this. 2 rolls of very nice sushi, comes in a very nice glass platter too. Inside out maki rolls. (is it called uramaki?)

Salmon Uramaki. Looks nice eh? Taste good too!

This is actually beef! The mix of ingredients takes good when you put the whole thing in your mouth!

One colleague had this. Did not get the name of this dish, but it's unagi on top of tofu and mushroom soup.

It comes with this rice. Hmm the rice looks long grain ya?

Another colleague ordered udon, think that's chicken right?

Another colleague and I ordered this. The Unagi bento set. I have been having lots of unagi these few weeks!

This is what another colleague had. Looks like Ramen right?

and it comes with fried chicken. ;-p

This post is a bit too long, too many photos. Oops...

The Daily Scoop @ Clementi Arcade

My colleagues are on an ice cream binge! The last two weeks or is it three, we have been going to ice cream places! It's good that we work not too far from all these boutique ice cream places..

Today someone suggested we head to Sunset Way to check out the place. OK, the food we ate here maybe tomorrow, but since we were in Sunset Way, someone said.... so so nearby there's the ice cream place that we have not been for so so so long.

We walked in the hot afternoon sun, 1 driver is on course, the other did not drive today. Anyway, it was a short walk along Sunset Way. You will reach Clementi Arcade. If you are wondering what's here, nothing much except for The Daily Scoop we are after. It's shown in the photo (spot the white arrow, haha).

5 of us today, we had 2 double scoops.
This is the Avocado (on the right) and Green Tea & Red Bean (on the left).
Maybe it's our tongue, but we think Avocado should be renamed Ciku. It really taste so similar to ciku! We are not complaining :-) We like it.

The white one is Coconut! Which taste quite like the real thing.
The brownish one is Baileys and Choc Chips.

One thing though, this place serves ice cream in real cold ceramic bowls. Not plastic or paper cups. So it scores a few points if you are into counting carbon credits :-)

And also... no students studying, wonder why... But it's full though, with working people all eating ice cream.

Ichiban Boshi @ The Centrepoint

It seems that the Ichiban range of restaurants is suddenly appearing everywhere! Suddenly there are so many Ichiban Boshi and Ichiban Sushi branches at the various malls. It has taken over the Pizza Hut location at The Centrepoint (opposite Prima).

Aunt wanted Jap food last Sunday, so we walked in. Really nice deco. Just showing 5 photos, I think I have too much Jap food photos that are too repetitive. hehe..

My cousin loves salmon, so remembered that colleague ordered this in another Ichiban at IMM, so we ordered this, and told them to hold the chilli.

I had the stone grill thingy and had unagi. (my hand shaky... photo not really in focus) haha..

The hotstone thingy came as a set, with salad and miso soup.
The salad are all pre-prepared and left in the fridge. Maybe the fridge is too cold because some leaves have been 'cooked' by the cold. OK lah, since they are so new and so busy. It will improve.

Anyway, desserts time. Uncle and cousin shared this "peach" ice cream.

Aunt and I, we shared this macha ice cream. I love it. The ice cream on top, the middle layer is creamy tofu like thingy, and red bean below. It goes very well.

Have a good week ahead. 2 more working days for this week.

Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee, Chicken Wings @ Newton Food Centre

Tonite after watching the movie Stardust with some friends, we went over to Newton Food Centre to have supper. It's been a long long long time since I step in here, after all it's a touristy place right? What are the locals doing here? haha..

Well, someone suggested it and off we went.Just showing you 3 out of the different food we ate.

We have a friend from US who came to Singapore to work for a year and he's leaving to work in Korea soon. He die die want to eat Char Kuey Teow. OK lor, since not sure when he will get to eat it again. Someone said this stall is nice, so we came here lor. See how minister photo on it leh.... And a makansutra cert also.

Anyway, here's the CKT and also the Hokkien Mee.

Dunno why when we go supper, we always must eat chicken wings. We ask the people selling us the other food, which chicken wing is nice, so they told us that one, pointing to the opposite side. We trust them lor.

Good nite!

p/s Hey dear friends who is now holidaying in Europe, you miss the food here or not? hehe..

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng @ Bugis Junction (2)

Continuation from yesterday's post....

We had this to share amongst the 6 of us. Sorry, did not really get the name, but it is wrapped with bacon and it taste not bad. It does not really look the same in the menu picture though. haha..

Uncle had this: Fried spaghetti with pork fillet in "hong kong" style. Looks very plain, but he says it is good. (except he is no pea eater... haha..) The pork fillet is mixed inside, the menu had it in a piece on top.

Cousin had braised chicken and potato with shanghai style veg rice.

The cousin we had not met for some time had Cheese baked rice with chicken chop.
He seems to enjoy it, so I guess it's good.

This is what I had: Roasted honey spare ribs shanghai style veg. rice. Pretty decent.

Aunt had Shanghai noodle with minced pork and potato. She said it looked boring. haha..

Sis had HK stirred noodle with honey spare ribs. Very instant noodles right? I think most HK Cafe does this instant noodles thingy.

That's it. Actually, I am now going to have some instant noodles after looking at the last photo above.

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng @ Bugis Junction

This afternoon, we met up with another cousin we had not seen in a long time. Sis also wanted to stop by NLB after lunch to visit her student's pushcart thingy, so we settled to have lunch at Bugis.

Walking around Bugis Junction, we realised that there's lots of chnages. Shows that we have not been here for the longest time. The basement food places have all moved to the 3rd floor!

Anyway, we saw this and walked in. Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.

Not sure if you feel it, all the Char Chan Teng loves exaggeration. tall glasses of cold drinks, big mugs of hot drinks, gigantic toast etc...

Well, we did have tall glass of Ying Yang, mix of coffee and tea.

This is another glass of Fresh Lemon Tea - Cold.

This is also ying yang, but the ice is outside! haha.. This is called the "authentic" version.

I had Hot Honey Lime Tea. I think its quite nice :-)

We saw others ordering the gigantic toast, and so did we.
It's like half a loaf of bread cut into 6 pieces with a scoop of ice cream on top

Shall show some food photos tomorrow.

Island Creamery @ Serene Centre

It seems when you start eating ice cream, you get addicted to it. The day before we went to Venezia, then yesterday, we ended up at Island Cremery at Serene Centre. Oh no... calories are loading up!

Just like yesterday's venue, this place is also a student's haunt, especially 'little girls' from a school nearby. You should know which school. haha..

The logo, which you can find on the containers when you have a tub takeaway.

No need to ask how much, just look at the board :-)

There were 4 of us yesterday, one colleague who loves this place was on half day.
Anyway, this place is unique and it has unique flavours too. This is Bandung. It taste quite bandungy. haha...

For me, I had Nutella. Slurp!

Another colleague prefer the cone, so he had not sure which chocolate he had :-p

Another colleague eat very little for lunch, so that she can have this! Err, I forgot to ask her what flavour too. But it looks good eh?

We all, add up our ages more than 120 years old, when saw photos posted up, we also did the same! Haha... Since we had a digital camera, and this place provides a photo printer to print!!

We printed it out, scribble something, and then we stuck it up on the wall immediately. (though we think its suppose to be done by staff of this place :-p )

Fun right? Maybe we should go back there and see if our photo is still there, and try out more flavours!

Gelateria Venezia @ Guthrie House, off Sixth Avenue

Colleagues and I, we had lunch yesterday at Turf City, and after that we wanted some Ice Cream. Since we were nearby Guthrie House, we went there to pay Venezia a visit.

At this time of the year, you can see students studying everywhere, this place has more than half the tables filled with very hardworking students. Wishing them all the best in their exams!

What did we have?
Those who like Durian, they shared this double scoop of Durian Gelato.

For the rest of who do not like, we shared a waffle with 3 scoops of ice cream.
Yummy! Mango Sorbet, Tiramisu and forgot the name of the chocolate.

It was good! Our stomachs have this compartment reserved for ice cream at anytime. Venezia is one of the pioneer of the made in Singapore 'boutique' ice cream shops. If I am not mistaken around the year 2000.

Any of you are also lovers of ice cream or gelato?

211 Roof Terrace Cafe @ Holland Village

It is continuation of makans for Sis's birthday. This time is with our CG. Last minute SMS here and there, we ended up at Holland V. Where did we to ended up? Ended up at 211 Roof Terrace Cafe.

We were waiting for the late comers to arrive while Alex and I roamed around Cold Storage, we decided we shall decide for everyone! So, we took the escalators to the 4th floor. haha..

We shared this. It's the Chef Special, which consists of several types of Bread and dips.
It was quite tasty. (If you like Indian taste food)

Our friend Alex had this. Baby Back Ribs. It looks delicious right? Alex seems to have enjoyed it very much, so it must be good. :-)

Darwin and sis, both ordered the Spaghetti Vongole. I think if you are here, you should order this, never fails to give you a satisfaction with the huge amount of vongole they put in.

For me, I had the Spaghetti Marinara. Quite generous with the amount of seafood buried under too! Actually, I wanted vongole, but 3 person ordering same thing, one less photo to take. haha.. The things that I do. (you going to say pengz right?)

Grace had this. Beef Lasagna. With an empty plate, I guess it must be good too!

PeraMakan @ Keppel Club (Part 2)

Continuation from yesterday's....

This is the Hee Peow Soup. Looks quite good eh. I forgot to try try sis and uncle's soup.

Cousin and Aunt shared the Bakwan Soup. Cousin dont like Bamboo shoots and said chemical taste, chemical taste. We told her that's bamboo, no small kids just refuse to listen to us.

I had Kiam Chai Ak. I have not had this for a long time! Yes, it was good and thick.

Before the meal, we all had this, lemon and aloe vera. Very refreshing.

Now, after dinner, we were all so stuffed, but we got tempted by the next table who was having desserts!

So, we shared a Chendol. Very thick Gula Melaka on top.

We were wondering how the Ice Kachang will look, so here it is..
Generous amounts of Ah Tap Chee below. I think it was 6-7 of it.

Cousin's favourite, Pulut Hitam. It was good, a bit on the sweetish side though.

We think we might go back again :-)

The Apom balik is suppose to be good, but we were told it will be a long wait because there's a big group of ladies having a tok panjang and ordered so may of it...

PeraMakan @ Keppel Club

Today's my sis' birthday. After work, uncle and aunt picked us up and we went to have a birthday dinner. Our cousin said, we are going to Kepo Club. Huh? Kepo? haha.. It is a joke to mean Keppel Club. haha..

PeraMakan used to be in Joo Chiat, but has recently moved here.

Anyway, here's what we had:
Beef Rendang. The beef is so soft and melts right in your mouth. Yum!

This is Penang Style Pork Ribs.
I love this best, I think I got soft spot for things cooked in Tau Jiu. Plus the meat is so so soft, it also melts in your mouth.

Sambal Ladies Finger.
My sis' likes it very much.

Sis also loves to have brinjals.
This is the Brinjal dish.

Cousin likes Assam Fish, so this is what she called.

Rex Satay @ Changi Airport Terminal 2 Staff Canteen

Hmm, today colleague and I, we went previewing the new Terminal 3 at Changi, after that it's lunch time, but where to eat? We ended up at the Terminal 2 Staff Canteen.

What to eat? Walk round and round, and I saw this Rex Satay, it has this Mediacorp's Gurmit Singh show about Lost and Found. This stall seems to be famous for its Satay, but I did not feel like Satay-ing for lunch. So I ordered the Nasi Lemak.

I would say it's not bad lah. The rice is fragrant and sambal also OK. Next time, I shall go try the Satay. :-p

Hey, if you want some cheaper food at Changi Airport, you can head here. The nasi lemak add the extra chicken wing is $3. Can of coke is $1.20 That's the non-staff pricing lah. Staff pricing is cheaper.

Food at Coffee Club @ Holland Village

Yesterday, one of our colleague said she is very very stress. We know what that means! Haha.. She needs to buy Bak Kwa and she is a huge fan of Mei Zhen Xiang. Which also means we will be having lunch in Holland Village, which has the nearest outlet. LOL...

We have always wanted to try the lunch there. We usually end up having desserts there and when we see the menu, we go "aiya, got food here, should have eaten here".

The place is also cool and quiet, good for our meetings too.

2 of us had this. Bangers and Mash. Chicken, Bratwurst and Bedder & Cheese sausages. Yum...

Miss Stress had this. Crusted Dory Gremolata. She likes it, because we see that her stress was gone after lunch!

Another colleague had this. I tell you, we all went ah.. because it smell so good. Chicken Cacciatore. Chicken cooked in red wine and it says a healthy portion of veg in the menu! haha..

Another colleague had this. Err forgot to get the name of the dish. Must find the receipt first. hehe..

We were full. But die die must eat dessert. Becoming like ritual when we are here.
If you remember, we have tried ALL the desserts in the menu. Except for this one. It was always not available. haha..

So here it is... Lychee Panna Cotta. The sourness of the strawberry blends in so nicely with the vanilla ice cream. (They ran out of the original ice cream and asked if they could substitute it with vanilla ice cream) Yes yes, we like it! haha...

Without fail, we always have this. Mud pie. We always wonder how big the piece will come. haha...

We have to thank colleague who decided to treat us lunch. Thanks!

Have a great weekend.

Taiwan Porridge @ Cheong Chin Nam Road

Last Monday, we had dinner at the Taiwan Porridge place at Cheong Chin Nam Road. We went to uncle's place because our 'A Kor' and 'Kor Tiu' was visiting from elsewhere. So, we went to meet them there, esp since bro in back and has not seen them.

We later after A Kor and Kor Tiu left, we went to nearby place to eat. So we ate at Taiwan Porridge.

This was Inoki mushroom plus lean meat and mushroom.

This is claypot chicken. Cousin love this kind of chicken.

I had the urge for sweet sour pork. haha. I dunno why, maybe because I had not had this for the longest time.

This is egg with chai por. Anything with Chai Por is my favourite. haha...

This is aubergine with mince.

Bro said he missed eating Kong Bak Pau, so this was for him.

No, I did not touch things with so much fat. haha.. It was for bro, and he ate 3 or 4 of it. *peng san*
