Desserts @ 2 NUH Kopitiams

You can call us 'siao'. It's OK. haha... This was our desserts eaten on Monday.

Savoury Dessert, chicken feet at the Kopitiam at NUH Kent Ridge Wing.

Really, we ate our lunch, and this was dessert. We only had 3 'plates' because they ran out of it. Sigh...

Then after this dessert, we walked over to the Kopitiam at the NUH Main Building. This time it was sweet dessert. We also had 3 cendol.

The latter is far too sweet and had too much suntan. The suntan was even turning hard under the ice! haha...

You like 'sweet' or 'savoury' dessert? :-p

Secret Recipe @ Anchorpoint

The desserts photos that were more interesting and delicious has been posted, here's the food photos, which is not as nice. LOL..

The kid's meal! 4 mini burgers. So cute, the tiny hand is already grabbing it!

The baked spaghetti, I thought it was for the kid, but I saw her daddy finishing up instead. haha... Parents always have to finish up after their kids ya?

The baked fish.

Chicken Cordon Blue eaten by sis. A bit 'the dry leh'.

We had a few of this on the table. Oxtail Stew. It was quite all right.

For our vegetarian friends who joined us, they had this veg spaghetti and another fried soba thingy.

Food so so lah. This place is meant for cakes.
Unless you want the Irish Stew that's quite famous too.

Desserts @ Secret Recipe, Anchorpoint

Last Saturday nite, met up with another group of friends for our monthly dinner. We had wanted to go to that Disney theme place, but we did not booked, and ended up having to eat elsewhere. We walked around and ate at Secret Recipe instead. The food pictures maybe tomorrow, but this was our desserts.

The kids was I think disappointed. The two pair of parents have to quickly initiate damage control. LOL. One said they will be back another day. Another got to wash the hands in the disney sink and was OK. haha...

One of the drinks that I like is the Apple Kasturi here. I think I always order this whether I have it in Singapore or Malaysia!

This is their signature cake. We had I think 2 or 3 of it on our tables. The Chocolate Banana. I think some outlets serve their standing up, but this one is served in 'sleep mode'. haha.

Those who did not order Chocolate Banana ordered Chocolate Indulgence instead. haha.. Yes, also in 'sleep mode'.

What about those who did not want cakes? They had ice cream instead!

The 3 kids had Smarties Ice Cream!

Though I am not a parent, would like to ask those parents out there.
How do you do damage control? Promised your child something and then could not deliver?

5 Star Chicken Rice @ Cheong Chin Nam Road

Last Saturday, a whole group of us Young Adults, we all had a hike at Bukit Timah Hill. After burning all the calories walking up and down the hill, we got to put it all back again.

We went to nearby Cheong Chin Nam Road to have our lunch. We knew we wanted chicken rice, but it was like deciding between Boon Tong Kee or 5 Star. We all went for the one that all of us seems to like better. 5 star. We wonder is it the name? LOL...

There was like 15 of us, so we spilt into 2 tables and each table ordered their own food. Here's what my table ate.

We had two plates of this 'white chicken'. (the next table had the half half, ie half roast and half white). Some of you cannot 'tahan' white chicken right? But we like it. The smooth soft tender meat and skin going into your mouth. Ahh..... (I know some of you want to puke with the thought of having white chicken skin in your mouth. LOL... )

I love minced ginger mixed with the chilli. Just give me the chicken, rice and chilli with ginger, I am satisfied. LOL

The rice nicely compacted too. This is round, the shop down the road is pyramid style. :-)

The other dishes we had. Toufu with minced meat.

Stuffed You Tiao.

Sweet and Sour Pork.

And a vegetable to go with it.

If you are a 'Young Adult', (ie between 18-35 years old), you can join us for out monthly hike. We meet on the 4th Saturday every month. Drop me an email and I will pass you the contact details of the coordinator. We are all part of the Young Adults Fellowship of Glory Presbyterian Church. Don't worry, it's just a hiking only activity. No forcing any religion down your throat. (maybe only food after the hike)

Foodcourt @ Anchorpoint Shopping Centre

This was what we had last Tuesday. The food we ate before we went to have the Tea/Coffee and Toast. The food's not spectacular. We were just walking around wondering what to eat, and ended up in the new foodcourt. Seems that Koufu is expanding everywhere.

Anyway, walked every stall and did not know what to eat. Prices are at the higher end side now. But I saw something from one of the stalls (the first one) that had like spicy strips something. I was wondering what it is, so I ordered it.

Haha.. it is deep dried pork strips with chilli powder on top.

That also came with rice and a sunny side up.

Plus a bowl of 'egg starch'. LOL.

And a platter of cabbage.

Can lah. Edible and you still get change when you pay with the green note.

This is also from the same stall that colleague ordered. Stir fried hand made noodles. He says ok only lah.

If you are not interested in the food, I think Anchorpoint might interest you with cheaper shopping. It seems that there are many many Outlets stores here. From clothing, shoes to even spectacles outlets store.
Eg. ClubMarc Express Outlet, Charles & Keith Outlet, FOS, G2000 Outlet, Pedro Outlet, etc...

Lor Mee @ Clementi Block 328

Another Lor Mee place that colleagues love to go is the one at Block 328 Clementi. Where is Block 328? Just cross the road opposite the NTUC Fairprice junction. Climb up the steps and the Kopitiam is there. (If you drive, enter via Clementi Ave 2)

There are lor mee that you love it the first time you have it and this happens to be one of them. I think its consistency of the dark gravy and the ingredients.

The bee hoon mee combi. Haha.. Yes, you can guess this is not mine. Mine's kuey teow. LOL.

We notice something though, we haven eaten here umpteen times, but this is the first for 2008, and we can detect some differences. Prices are still the same, but it seems sometimes are missing. LOL. Enuff said, we did not confirm with the seller, but 4 who ate it think so.

But what to do? Inflation hits all time high!
Do you think things have gotten expensive nowdays?

Update: This stall has moved away. We recently found it and it's now at Clementi Ave 3.

Indian Delight @ NUH Staff Canteen

I wonder how many of you correctly guessed the type of food I am having today. LOL.
Yes, it's Friday and Friday somehow becomes Indian Food Day.

We just decided to walk over to the NUH Staff Canteen today. Upon reaching, somehow 3 persons legs just brought them to the Indian Stall. I think the T has dropped down.

It's one of those stalls that serves food in metal plates that have compartments. No communal food today, we just ordered individual portions.

This is lamb from colleague's plate. Yummy? It's a bit tough, but they say it is good. 2 of them ordered lamb. I did not.

One of them also had this tauhu. So sedap looking right?

For me, I had chicken. I think it is quite nice. The food taster colleague took a tiny bit and said: "can" "pass". LOL

I had bean sprouts to go.

And I love this. Cucumber.

All of us had Nasi Briyani. For mine, it was covered with dahl curry. :-P

This Indian Stall in NUH Staff Canteen has been consistently quite good. It's average around $3.50 for the combi above.

Actually looking forward to Monday's lunch! LOL.
A colleague is planning a lunch. If we get to go, the pictures will be here. haha..

Kopi Alley @ Anchorpoint

Two days ago, we had lunch at Anchorpoint. The renovations are not fully completed yet. The main entrance is not ready! haha...

Walking around, we did not know where to eat and ended up eating at the new Koufu food court. We were feeling warm and thirsty after lunch, so we all decided to go elsewhere for coffee and tea. We thought we saw TCC, but it is not opened yet. So we remembered seeing a coffee place at the basement while we were roaming this place earlier.

Kopi Alley, is opened by Jollibean, one of the soya bean shops.

We ordered a few drinks. This is my 'teh o peng'.

I want to laugh. It is written "Ice Tea O" on the menu, but when I order, I said Teh O Peng. The person paused a while then said yes, we have Ice Teh O, and took my other orders.

When she confirmed the order again, she read it out all in the English equivalent. I said, yes, 3 teh, 1 kopi, 1 teh o peng. I think that confused the lady, because she had to translate all back to 3 Tea, 1 Coffee, 1 Ice Tea O again before she got it.

OK, I was cheeky.

The drinks ok lah.

But something that was different was the Ice Cream Toast. It's vanilla ice cream for this.
This is what another colleague ordered earlier. OK we always order extra to share and always ended up with too much. LOL.

This was another order, also with Ice Cream Toast. But this is choc chip instead. haha..
We like both of it.

We also had the usual Kaya and Butter Toast.

One thing though, has the price of butter gone up so so much? See the butter above, that's all you get, 1.5 cm more inside what you see. A bit kiam-siap lah... Maybe if we were to order we should ask for extra butter next time.

Of course, the butter lover colleague would have love the the butter to be as big piece as the ice cream. LOL...

Sarawak Laksa

This was what my colleagues and I had for lunch last Saturday. A colleague whose hometown is in Kuching, Sarawak made us authentic Sarawak Laksa.

I did not capture the whole cooking process, it's too many photos and too tedious! I was also busy peeling prawns etc...

A short description of the process. The Laksa stock has to be made from chicken stock, so one chicken was boiled, and the chicken meat shredded.

Then it was peeling I think 2 kgs over of live prawns. (The prawns were jumping off our hands when we were de-shelling it.) The shells were then boiled with the chicken stock and then sifted out. Then the laksa paste was added followed by coconut milk.

Well, after two hours of hard work, we got to eat this! Here are the photos...

The plate being filled with bee hoon, shredded chicken meat, bean sprouts, egg strips and prawns.

It is then top up with the yummilicious laksa gravy, chopped parsley, raw dou miao and a few pieces of roast pork.

Oh man. it was so so lovely.

Hainese Style Boneless Chicken Rice @ Dover Food Market

You notice it is Hainese and not Hainanese? Colleagues and I have been here so many times over the years, but we never noticed it until yesterday!

We were actually going to 'save' another chicken rice stall at the Dover Food market, we saw that they were on the verge of closing, and was having chicken rice at $1.50 till the end of the month. When we arrived, I guess we were too late! The whole stall is empty, nothing was left there, except a bunch of flowers. Hmmm... some fans left a bouquet there? LOL...

Anyway, since we set our minds on having chicken rice, we headed to the 'super competitive' 2 chicken rice stall that are beside each other (separated by a drinks stall in the middle only). We know both are equally nice, but there was an empty table in front of this stall, so we ate at this one lah...

This must be faster than fast food! The moment you sit down, the guy asks for your order, and within half a minute, the rice and chicken is on the table!

This 'white chicken' arrives within 1 minute. Love the 'archar' that comes with it.

We also had the 'roast chicken'.

The 'you chai'.

Maybe the bean sprouts takes longer time to get rid of the head and root, it arrived much much later.

Anyway, it also comes with very big plates of rice. You get stuffed by the rice. We were 4 satisfied people. haha...

If you have been here, which of the two competitive stalls is your favourite?

Thai Express @ Plaza Singapura

In yesterday's post, I mentioned Thai Express, so here's the photos.

This place always reminds us that looks are deceiving. But we enjoyed abusing our tongue and lips. The Tom Yam Soup here always looks so clear and mild. But this is fiery soup. Weaklings need not bother. haha..

I had the Thai Laksa. It looks mild too yah? But this jade-green dish, looks tame but it is wild!

Uncle had Seafood Horfun. Looks yummy too eh?

We always seem to order the same mango or papaya salad. So this time, we tried something different. We had the mushroom and tofu salad. It is actually quite good.

Sis and Cousin both had Phad Thai. Do you realise our brains have somehow being wired that thai food = phad thai. haha...

Hope you rested well over the weekend.

Mee Tai Mak Laksa, Thick Toast @ Toastbox, Plaza Singapura

After church today, the rest of us had lunch at Thai Express (photos another day), while our aunt had her Sunday School Teachers meeting. So we all makan first since her meeting takes a long time.

When she finished her meeting, we met her at Toast Box while she had her lunch. Mee Tai Mak! It's laksa too. It looks delicious too! The rest of us then ordered a bowl to share! (actually cousin is the one that wants to eat it) haha..

It looks good doesn't it?

Wonder what is Mee Tai Mak? It's the worm like whitish noodles. In Hokkien, some of us call it mouse tail noodles. haha... Here, i messed up the dish to show it to you.

The rest of us took a spoonful of the laksa and munch on this Peanut Butter thick toast instead.

Laksa is $4.20

Khansama Tandoori Village @ Science Park 1

It has been a long time since we had our Friday Indian Food day. We were going to go somewhere else, when we realise two colleagues could not join us. Then it was like 'ting ting' in our heads. Hey, the two who don't like Indian food is not joining us, let's go for Indian food today!

So it was 6 of us. On our way out, our boss asked, where are you all going for lunch? We said Indian Food at Science Park. We were surprised that he said he will join us. He's the very picky and healthy eater leh. haha...

We have been here before, you can play catch up by viewing the previous makan photos here.

We have been here a few times and also took the set, somehow we decided to have communal today. So, this is what was ordered.

The Chicken Tandoori. It is very good here. For the namesake of the restaurant tandoori got to be good here!

We also had Fish Tikala. Very nice too, though a tad salty.

We wanted naan, so we ordered the assorted basket.

The other dishes we had. This is chicken curry. Can't remember the exact name. The curry for this is what I love most. :-)

Two colleagues die die must order this. Chick Peas. Actually it is quite nice.

The is the mutton curry. Marvelous too.

Make a guess. Do you know what it is?
It is very fine spinach and cheese. Our veg dish :-)

We also had the briyani rice. The rice and the naan goes superbly well with all the curries.

Maybe we might come back next month on another Friday. There's still so many things to try here. This place gets quite packed, so be there early if you have a big group.

Oh yes, our boss 'belanja-ed' us. Thanks Boss! :-)

Ya Kwang Dai Pai Dong @ 709 Geyland Road

This was eaten yesterday. I was too tired to post it so I posted yesterday, so the Tau Huey got posted first. (less photos mah.... hehe..) Anyway.....

When we were all concentrating at work yesterday, suddenly my yahoo messenger pop up with the words: "Lunch at: http://ieatishootipost.blogspot.com/2008/01/ya-kwang-dai-pai-dong-different-cze.html ?" Of course we all said "sure". Read Doc Leslie's blog to read more about this place.

Our makan coordinator at work must have planned it all, coz another colleague who usually parks his car at his wife's workplace (with free parking), decided to park at our workplace. So, we got two cars to drive all the way to Geylang.

The first car arrived much earlier and ordered the food. We arrived just in time to makan.

Anyway, we had this fabulous Char Kuey Teow. There's the $4 version and the $8 version. We thought that we ordered the $8 version, but the $4 version came. Of course the $4 is not enough to feed 8 hungry gluttons like us. So after this arrived, we ordered another $8 portion of it. (confused? :-0)

Delicious, but just a tad too salty for half of us who had more sensitive tongue. We will still eat another plate though. haha...

There was a great disappointment. We were told no crabs!!! Aiyo, they also did not have crabs over at the owner's parents shop nearby. Alamak, how? So we settled for cereal prawns. "Boh Jim, Hey Mah Hor"

To replace the crab, we also had this delicious sotong. The sambal makes us 'gian' for more. If you like spicy stuff, eat this. Cooked just right, no rubbery texture.

Aha. This is delicious. Very delicious. Rib eye with teriyaki sauce. Lots of onions! Heavenly.. The meat was tender, juicy and chunky. Yes, we had double servings of this.

We also had chicken wings.

Our only veg. Ti Wang Miao.

OK, we shall be back another day for our crabs.
Be warned... we were very thirsty by 3 or 4 pm. haha..

$130 plus for all of the above plus drinks. The expensive part is actually the parking fine that our colleague got. Urrghh.. extra $50 to the bill.

Have a Blessed Weekend!

Today after lunch we walked a few shops away to have some beancurd. Since we are so near, might as well right? (Sounds so kiasu hor.. haha..)

There was 8 of us, and 7 of us had the tau huay. Some like it cold, some like it hot. (Sounds like a nursery rhyme right? )

We went to this famous one lah..

All of you are bright people, you can guess which is the cold beancurd and which is the hot ones.

Just in case you don't know.... The hot one comes in bowls.

The cold ones are taken out from the fridge and they are in plastic containers.

Yes, it was nice and smooth. Delicious!

Thaksin Beef Noodle @ Clementi Avenue 3

Met up with Care Group mates for dinner earlier before Care Group. All of us ate Beef Noodles from Thaksin. It has been a long time since we came here.

I think their signboard has changed too. Now they have 4 different prices for the noodles. OK, I just forgot what was it I ordered, but it was the 5.50 set. The most expensive is now 6.50. It was something like Value, Supreme and two others I forgot.

Someone wanted more kuey teow and more veg, and had to add 20 cents for each. So his was $5.90

Think they have 4 branches in Singapore. This stall I ate was at 449 Clementi Avenue 3, just behind Fairprice, opposite OCBC.

It was nice to have their beef noodles again. Reminds me of Vietnamese Noodles that I used to eat a lot in Richmond, Victoria, Australia.

Which other beef noodles stall do you like? I wonder where the one at the former Scotts Foodcourt moved to. Anyone knows?

Malay Food @ NUS Staff Canteen

Today we went to the hospital. No, not to visit someone staying there, but to eat. Maybe it is in Singapore that hospital food taste good. (the ones not for patients obviously...) haha...

We had a colleague who had not join us for a while with us today. Welcome back! LOL...

Anyway, we all had different food, but 3 of us ate from this Malay Stall. Somehow, we just walked directly to the stall if we are here.

Why? Because we love the big portions and the variety too!

This was my lunch. Tau Geh, Chilli Brinjal and Mutton Rendang.

Another colleague had Bitter Gourd, Brinjal and Mutton Rendang too.
Realise the 3rd person also ordered something similar!

The other two love the reddish orangy chilli you see here.
All of us love the Mutton Rendang here. Usually there are 6-8 pieces of it!
Usually for 2 veg and 1 meat, we pay $3

Oh ya, this is the NUH Staff Canteen, not the fancy kopitiam at the NUH Main Building or 'more atas' class Kent Ridge Wing. NUH Staff Canteen is facing AYE, along Lower Kent Ridge Road.

The Sambal Kangkong.

Platter of Roast Pork and Crispy Pork. (Cha Shao and Shao Rou)

The plate of quack quack with very crispy skin.

5 plates of rice with lots of gravy :-)

One colleague had noodles.
We also had 2 other soups. Salted Veg and Duck Soup & Watercress Soup.

When we left the place, there was almost no seating space. While we ate, people were streaming in. Yes, we enjoyed our meat. haha..

Sergeant Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Food Republic, Wisma Atria

This was part of my lunch today. We were at Food Republic at Wisma Atria and we happened to find a table for 5, just in front of this stall. I have never tried their chicken rice and decided to give it a try.

The name of the stall is Sergeant Hainanese Chicken Rice. This is the set meal that I ordered. It also comes with a bowl of rice and soup that are not shown here. $6.

Quite decent. It seems all the stalls in Food Republic is some famous stall in Singapore. So I did a online search. Aha.. The founder of Sergeant is one of the original chefs that made the Mandarin Hotel Chicken Rice famous in Singapore.

Just wondering... Any chicken rice fans around? Where is your favourite chicken rice stall?

New York, New York @ Citylink Mall

After watching Beauty World this afternoon, sis and I walked past Citylink Mall.

We saw this New York, New York place and we walked in. We reasoned that there's always a long queue, so the food must be quite ok. Moreover there was no queue when we walked past.

We ordered a Caesar Salad to share. Guess its name? It's called World Class Caesar Salad! $8.90

Our drinks came next. Sis wanted a Root Beer Float. $7.60

I had a lemonade. $5.90

Sis ordered Spaghetti Vongole. The taste is OK lah. She was counting the number of vongole on the plate. haha.... She was thinking about the Vongole at Holland Village that has so much you won't bother to count. LOL...

I ordered the whole Rotisserie Chicken. $14.90
I thought I should have ordered the Ribs. :-)

Those of you who have eaten here, what's New York New York's specialty? I think we ordered the wrong mains. We wondered what those in the long queue eat when they are here. :-p

Indonesian Panggang @ Engineering Canteen, NUS.

A few of us had wanted to try this the whole of this week. Yes, the stall that won in the second week of Campus Yummy Hunt that featured food in NUS. Finally, on the last day of the week, can 'breathe' a bit after a whole week of hectic madness.

We tried it long time ago when they first opened in the Engineering canteen. After that we never went back because it was no good. Today we gave it a second chance. We wondered why it won. LOL... Someone mentioned it is because the other two competitors were weaker thats why. Hmmm.

Anyway, it was quite ok. Much improvement from last time. (which must be quite long ago!)

How did I order? Told the lady, the exact dish that was on TV. haha..

The curry over it was fragrant, but its what my mum calls the "curry powder aftertaste" kind of curry. But I like it. haha... The panggang sauce and sambal is sweetish. $2.80 only.

The pickiest colleague said, still not up to his standard. They used frozen chicken. Yes, this colleague of ours only eats fresh food. His taste bud's sensitive. But when we walked around the canteen, almost every other table has someone having it!

Are you a picky eater?

Spicy Ramen @ Sushi Tei

This whole week, I have been so busy at work. Lunch and dinner have been quick food (not fast food kind though) that's not really drool worthy. haha...

But I got this photo from Momo in another email. Now, this is drool worthy. I looked at it and I wanted to taste it!

This was also eaten at Sushi Tei, Spicy Seafood Ramen.

Quoting Momo in her email: "spicy seafood ramen - full of seafood like clams, scallops, prawns, cuttlefish. very spicy..super shiok. "

It makes me want to head down to have some too!

This was lunch that Momo and another friend Dino had at Sushi Tei last week or so. I saw these photos in my email this morning and said, wow! they are beautiful! Momo said I can use them, so here they are for you to enjoy too.

Ike Kegani Sugatamori (Steam Live Hairy Crab)
This is the promotion that Sushi Tei is having. It costs $54 for whole crab / $28 for half a crab.

I was told it was a very painful lunch. They are just too too too prickly!

So, what kind of crabs do you like?

The Soondooboo Set. Spicy Soft Tofu Seafood Stew. $9
If you are someone who likes spicy food, does it make you salivate? haha..

Kimchee Jigae Set. $8
I ate this. There's lots of sliced pork below. It's a Pork Kimchi Stew.
(Kimchee appeared on the receipt, I usually spell it as Kimchi, I guess you can spell it anyway you want)

One thing about Korean food is that it comes with these small side dishes that are absolutely yummy!

Crystal Jade Kitchen @ Holland Village

Today we had to go to 3 places before we can have lunch! We went to Venue A in Ghim Moh, arrgh... it's closed. Then we went to another place, Venue B, at the other side of Ghim Moh .... and on the main entrance, it says Closed on Mondays. Arrghh..

Then we went to Holland Village nearby. Oh, it was so easy to get a cab nowdays. ;-)
The first 4 who got there says they got a place at Crystal Jade. The other 4 of us in the other cab met them there.

One more senior colleague said, lunch on me, ok? All of us replied in unison, SURE!! He asked what to eat, and he decided on the Set Meal for 8. One had Sharksfin, the other Fish Maw, the choice was clear. We had a very anti-shark colleague. (He might just join green peace one day!)

The Fish Maw soup was served. It was served in 8 individual bowls.

It was nice, a scoop of it with crab meat.

It also came with the combo with 3 kind of meat.

Prawns and Broccoli.
(We were talking about how they make the prawns so crunchy, any of you have secrets that can let us know?)

The 3 different kind of eggs with Veg dish. One of our favourites.

Pork Chops. Yummy! There's lots of onions all below. :-)

The salted fish fried rice.

The lady asked if we wanted deep fried for the Soon Hock. OK, since it was recommended. It came as two fishes. If we knew earlier, maybe we could have asked for half half eh? One Steam and One Crispy Deep Fried. Wonder if they would agree. LOL...

Red Bean Soup with Fried Orange Peel for dessert.

Crystal Jade Dining Place @ IMM

This was eaten on 1 Jan 2008. More like afternoon snack. First snack for 2008. :-p

We snacked at Crystal Jade Dining Place, one of the many Crystal Jade Restaurants around. This is in IMM. Dining Place is their latest chain brand I think, serving casual eats.

Was fiddling with the camera and happened to look up. Mirrors on the ceiling! Took a shot of it. Rare glimpse of the people that usually eat together in this blog! :-)

Do you play with food? We do! Have you tried picking two peanuts using your chopsticks? Everytime there's peanut starter dish, we play with food! (family tradition? haha)

We wanted to order "lo por gao", but we were recommended this special version of it. The Stir fried savoury and sweet version. It's quite yummy! Should try it.

We also had beef hor fun, with the hint of the wonderful wok burnt smell!
We had lotus leaves glutinous rice too. (partially hidden on the top left)

The Cha Shao Bao here is soft and flavourful. The steamers beside were the usual 'phoenix claws' and 'siu mai'. No need to show right? The claws are good here too.

We ended the snack with this dessert. This is actually 'tang yuan'! Very finely crushed peanut covering the tang yuans.

Hmmm. When you eat this, it signifies that you are a year older right? It so happened that it's 1 Jan! We are old!

Hope you all have grown up wiser and healthier in 2008!

Wishing all parents who have children taking PSLE, O and A levels extra portion of strength, blessings and perseverance for this year! It's time to start boiling them gingko soups!

Cold Rock Ice Cremery @ Holland Village

Some of you should know that I love to ice cream / gelato!
Finally got to taste the ice cream from Cold Rock few days ago. It's also one of those that you pick your ice cream, choose some toppings and they mix them all up on a cold surface.

Cold Rock's from Australia and I remember eating it in the middle of winter in Brisbane! I think ice cream taste extremely good in winter and it does not melt!

Cousin picked the flavours and toppings.

More of the mixing up...

Yes, it's ready!

You want some? This is sweetish and sourish because we picked berries and chocolate.

Yummy! Do you like ice cream? Or do you make ice cream?
I have been experimenting with home made ice cream too. ;-)

Cold Rock is located in Holland Village, right opposite Haagan Dazs.

Aerin's @ Raffles City

Dinner tonite was at Aerin's at Basement 1 of Raffles City. (Just realise that Raffles City basement has got another new wing! )

Black Cod Pasta.

psst... it reminded me of wantan mee. hehe... Momo said it was not bad.

Chicken Cacciatore.

The portion is big. There was lots of chicken, at least 6 big pieces of it.
It came with 2 palm size pieces of bread that's very thick too.

The Chicken actually has a Healthy Choice Logo by the Health Promotion Board! Is that why I picked it? The annual comprehensive health check is coming up soon. So, am I unconsciously picking healthier food? hmmm

Looking back at my posts, the last time I was at Aerins was in April 07.

Campus Yummy Hunt at NUS: Chinese Noodle @ Frontier Canteen

Yesterday's post was the winner of the 3 stalls at NUS. This stall was also featured. The Chinese Noodle stall @ Frontier Canteen.

I ordered the Pai Ku Mian that was shown on TV, but I opted for Kuey Teow instead.

You can usually order the $1.50 or $1.80 version, but this is the $2 version. For $2, look at how many pieces of meat they give (6 pieces)! Yes, the chilli is good!

(if you buy uncook pork ribs at the supermarket with this portion, it cost more than $2!)

More pieces of meat is a bit fatty. haha.. Do you like super lean meats or fatty meats? I like to have fatty meats cooked with food, but I don't put the fats into my mouth. hehe..

Campus Yummy Hunt Winner : Claypot House @ Frontier Canteen, NUS

On a Channel U Food Show last nite (Campus Yummy Hunt), it featured 3 best food to try in NUS (Part 1). One of it is this Claypot House at Frontier Canteen. (Frontier is a fancy name that was given to the Science Canteen some years ago)

So for lunch today, colleagues and I decided to just literally walked across the road give the uncle and aunty some 'support support'. We told the aunty, we want what was on TV last nite, she just gave a huge huge grin.

So, here's the stall.

The awards they have been bestowed over the years and proudly displayed. The Channel U award being the latest.

Well, on the TV show, it did not show the egg. But for the many of us who have eaten this for years, you must ask for 'jia dan' (add extra egg). If you just eat their eggs, rice and the delicious chilli, you can be satisfied. haha...

This is the Beef Claypot.

The Tofu Claypot.

This is the Chicken Claypot that appeared on TV. This made them the winner.

Food prices that is catered for staff and students of NUS, each claypot with rice cost $2.60.
We had extra egg, so each cost $2.90

Maybe the next few days, people from NUS, NUH, ITE Dover and Science Parks Shuttlers will be coming over for the delicious and cheap lunch!

First Meal for 2008

What was your first meal for 2008?

My first meal is what is normally known as the Last Supper. Together with those who attended the Watch Nite service at church, we all partook the bread and wine together, 15 minutes after 12 midnite.

Wishing all of you a very Blessed 2008 New Year.
May you all stay healthy and be able to enjoy your food that nourishes your body.

I did not take photo of it as it was not very appropriate.
If you are interested, you can read what Wikipedia's description of the Last Supper.
