Met our friend 'gorilla' for dinner on Friday and we had to wait for Momo to arrive from CBD at Holland V too. So we picked a place that has a long queue, because we know Momo might take some time.
It seems Sushi Tei has a long queue during peak hour, and so we were glad. (LOL.. are we mad?) Now comes the dilemma, it's so hot outside and we know the wait's going to be 30 minutes, where can we find a place that's nearby and has air-con? Cold Rock.
So both 'gorilla' and I had a Junior ice cream each.
The 'mixing' of the ice cream... (which makes our ice cream melts very quickly)
I had white chocolate and dark chocolate mixed with boyensberry.
'Gorilla' had banana with butterscotch with boyensberry (I think)
It was $4.95 + $1 topping. We saw that UOB card has a 10% off if you spend $10 or more.

Noodles stall @ NUS Science Canteen
Lunch after coming back from holidays has been familiar food.
Side track: Yesterday colleagues and I ate the Malay stall at the NUH Staff Canteen. (We noticed the food taste errrr... standard jatuh so much! We then look towards the stall. We notice none of the familiar faces selling the food's there now. Also, we noticed the menu on the board has been pasted with white paper. OK, not going back anymore.)
Today colleagues and I had lunch at the NUS Science Canteen. The stall owner's still the same. :-P
Two of us had the 'chan chan niang kuai' ('mix mix two dollars') noodles. This is it. A mixture of everything. It's always satisfying for people who wants to taste everything.
Two other colleagues had the 'Pai Ku Mian'. (Pork Rib noodles). They 'jia chai' (added extra vegetables) and this is their healthy looking noodles. $2.20
Familiar food always taste good. :-)

Goodness Gracious Me
I came back on Monday night and the first meal I had was Bak Chor Mee! haha... Dad, Mum, Sis had Kuay Teow Terng (Soup). Almost two weeks away, we really miss the food from home.
We ate at Basement 2 of Terminal 3, at the Kopitiam food court. There was posters like this stuck on the tables.
Something struck us. If you notice around the whole food court, 95% of people do not like to eat with trays! One of the reasons is that they smell and its usually wet and oily.
We thought we would return the trays to the return point after taking out our bowls of food. We happen to sit in the middle of the food court, walking around (about 20 steps), we could not spot the return point. It was only after when we were leaving and walked to the end that we notice the return points. Oh well...
So, do you clear your trays? We do at our workplace's canteens. They have multiple return points and usually the trays are dry and clean.

Sweet Indulgence @ Stanley Street
Ms iPhone and Ms Watchless wanted to meet up for dinner to catch up. We all ran out of places and delegated to Ms Watchless to find a place. She chanced upon this cosy place and thought we should all go try.
When we arrived, we were immediately served with bread and balsamic vinegar. Meanwhile giving us time to flip through the menu and looking at what we want. Ms Watchless really loved the bread!
We finally decided on a dish of appetizer first while waiting for Ms iPhone to come. This is called Spicy Bratwurst. It was quite spicy indeed.
When Ms iPhone finally appeared, we ordered. This is Ms Watchless's order of Beef Tenderloin Alio Olio.
Ms iPhone ordered Grilled Pork Rack. It was very tender.
I ordered the Braised Lamb Shanks.
Apologise for the grainy photos. Being a cosy place, lightening was not to its full potential for photography.

Tsuru Tsuru Tei @ Meidi-ya, Liang Court
Dino wanted to try a new restaurant at Liang Court. But it was packed, and they couldnt give a time when a table would be available. Hence, we wondered off to the basement and thought will try some of those little eateries outside Meidi-ya.
Chance upon this one selling udon and some other little items. Menu looks like that. We decided and walked to the cashier to order. The person at the cashier was also a Japanese :-)
Dino had the Maitake Udon aka Fluffy Fish ball with Maitaka Mushrooms. $10. The fish cake was firm and bouncy.
I had Kim Chi, Egg Udon. It looks like laksa! $10.
Here's how it looks when i took the udon to eat. Its even got tau pok! Just like laksa. hahaha.
And we also ordered a little cute eel rice. Simply called Mini steam eel rice. $1.80

Golden Mile Food Centre on Beach Road
Its been a long time since i last came here to eat. Parking is a factor as sometimes even after waiting for 15-25 mins, i still dont get a lot! Decided to give it a try again.
Mum wanted to try the chiew kway that she saw. 5 pieces for $1.50. Chilli was good, but everything else was so-so. The rice cakes were too soft!
Dad normally has his prawn noodles from this stall. $4 - they give you everything, 3 prawns and spare ribs. I know the ribs were soft.
Parents also wanted to have the CKT that has no lard, no pork and lots of vegetables. Means no lup cheong! $4. Totally un-CKT.
Overall, so-so experience this time round. Hmm...not totally satisfied. Shall come back and try other stalls!

Strawberries and Peach Cake from Bangawan Solo
It was time for the office to celebrate the birthdays for the October babies! This time the organiser ordered from Bangawan Solo. When the cake came, i asked what's the name of this cake? She said, its simply strawberries and peaches cake. I went huh? That sounds self-explanatory. Then she showed me the cake, and indeed, it simply that. No frills on the naming of the cake, like some shops.
Here's the simply strawberries and peaches cake.
Show you the strawberries at the top, together with some pistachios.
And the almonds at the side.
We ordered a 2kg one, as there were 35 people in the office that day. It fed all of us with huge pieces per person.
Happy birthday to Ms Foo and Goonie!

Wang Cafe @ Suntec City Mall
My colleague likes to come to Wang Cafe to get her afternoon caffein fix. We termed this place as Wang Jiao. She almost always must have yuan yang xiu dia. We were here to get her usual fix, when we saw that there were introducing lotong. So we said, will come here the next day for lunch.

Swiss German Sausage Bar @ Takashimaya
Keropok girl and i were wanting a quick dinner. We were on our way to exchange her newly bought toy, which spoilt 2 days after using.
We were spoilt for choices on which sausage to choose.
She finally decided on Chicken Garlic with Rosti - $9.50.
I had Smoked Pork with Rosti - $9.80
Both plates were accompanied with sour cream and some browny coloured, salty stuff, which we couldnt figure out what it was. We also thought the rosti were a little thin, not enough for the greedy me :P

Mei Cai Kuo Rou @ Amoy Street Food Centre
This is one of the fastest meal you can have ready on your table in 2 mins (if there is no queue) - Mei Cai Kou Rou. This is one of the stalls that i frequent every Tuesday /Thursday for the last few years.
I used to eat the mei cai with chicken. But ever since Keropok Man tried this (long time ago and always), and he seems to like it, have always ordered the mei cai with kou rou since. The auntie will also add some vegetables on top, hence making it a wholesome meal ;-)
Here's a closer view of the pork hidden below the vegetables.
I am getting hungry all over again :P

Island Cafe @ Tangs Plaza
I had some points that were expiring from my Tangs card, but i didnt have anything to buy at CK Tang. So the next way to use up the points was to eat at Island cafe :-)
I usually wouldnt come here, unless i had spare points to use or needed shelter from rain. And today it was for both reasons that i came in here for lunch with Dino.
Dino was not very hungry, so she had Grilled Taupok -$7. Very crispy taupok with the tau kwa.
I had Indonesian Fried Rice-$13. There was 2 sticks of chicken satay as well, but sorry it got hidden. Chicken curry that came with this was really soft and melt in the mouth kind.
And i was still greedy and wanted to try the Asian Pork Salad-$11. The sio bak turns out to be really good! Crispy with lots of fat to chew on (i was chewing really slowly, as i just had my braces tighten the day before). The cumcumber that came with with it was really refreshing with the thai salad sauce.
Have a good week ahead!

Pizza de France
We have a committee in my department who organizes almost monthly makan sessions for the entire department. Purpose is for everyone to gather together for lunch, as we found that its tough for everyone in the department to sit together and mingle over meals. The department has 3 teams, and each team have different timelines to meet throughout the day (even over lunch times!) hence the difficulty to come together for lunch.
This time, the committee decided to order in pizza (nope, not from the one that has three 5s in the takaway number). The committee was also doing a movie screening!! Something quite different for lunch ;-)
Here's the web site of the pizza.
We ordered the "688 combo" that came with 3 large pizza, 10 pcs of Honey mid wing, 10 pcs of Spring roll, 10 pcs Shrimp rolls, wedges and 2 bottle of coke.
One of the pizzas was Sunshine Fantasy. We thought we would see the slices of boiled egg on top! But doesnt look like it
There was also BBQ Chicken. Not too salthy like some of the others. This was good!
The last was the usual Hawaniian Classic, which could taste the sweetness of the pineapples.
The finger food was something that everyone grab it first, We all asked, pizzas and spring rolls was not exactly a combination that we would mix. Hahaha.
Check out the web site: http://www.pizzadefrance.com/index.html if you want to try the other pizza flavours. 1 colleague had lots of praises for them.

Imperial Treasure @ Changi Airport Terminal 1
Sis and I are flying off to London to attend our younger sis' wedding. Our parents and aunt flew on Sunday. We are only flying off today.
Our flights delayed. Why waste time, when I can post something up here.
Porridge that sis and momo ate just a moment ago...
The porridge is not too bad according to sis and momo. I am planning to sleep on the plane straight away so I am not eating. ;-)
When you are hungry and want porridge, you can consider this. ;-p
Oh, if you order after 11 pm, you get it for half price.
But we had to pay full price because it's only 10.30pm when we ordered.

Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao @ Holland Village
We celebrated our youngest colleague's birthday today during lunch time. We found out he is so young! Usually you do not ask people about their age for no reason, but since we are celebrating his birthday, we get to ask! (hehe...)
We wanted to have Laksa Steamboat initially. We saw from their website that there's a nearer branch at Holland Village, so we went there. We were dissapointed when we found out they have closed this branch! (Arrgh.. don't believe their website!).
We had a choice to either stay in Holland Village or drive to Telok Blangah. Everyone unanimously decided we shall eat in Holland Village. So we walk over to Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao.
The starters were pickles. Chai Por chunks. Delicious! Everyone was happily eating until a colleague mentioned that eating too much of these causes pre-mature balding. Suddenly you see a few chopsticks back on the table. haha...
What we ate, in order of their appearance.
La Mian in Hot and Sour Soup. Like the tangy taste of it. You can choose the different thickness of noodles if you want.
This is the choking fiery La Mian. Be careful on your first mouth!
It was quite nice, but just be careful. :-p
Since we had like 9 of us, we had double portions of Jelly Fish. It's always a favourite.
This is delicious for those who like pork slices. I love the pungeant garlic on top of it. Wrapped inside the pork, cucumbers and carrots.
This is one plate of super tender beef.
We had two portions of this deep fried eel too.
When you are in a xiao long bao shop, you just got to order it! 3 steamers of it.
The other carbo we had for the carbo cravers. Delicious noodles with veg and meat.
(Forgot the name. hehe..)
This is roast chicken with onions. Those are onion bits on top. I like the onion topping more than the chicken.
For those with cholestorol problem, eat more 'black fungus'. The black fungus goes well with Kai Lan.
Last carbo for the meal, seafood fried rice.
As if it is tradition, we went over to Coffee Club for our muddy mudpies.
Happy Birthday Mr Y!
