It has been months since my colleagues and I ate at the Arts Canteen. We are usually too lazy to travel far away. (I can hear u all say, ya right.... haha)
Walking around, one colleague and I decided to have Bak Chor Mee. (I had Kuey Teow, so it should be Bak Chor Kuey Teow )
Colleague said that this might be the healthiest noodles ever. There's so little oil, no lardy crispy stuff in it too. It's filled with veggies too. If your eyes are sharp, you might see something in it. 'Tong Cai', just beside the fish ball. (the salty pickle veg is unhealthy right?)
One of the fun thing is to mix everything up.
$2 only and it has minced pork, mushrooms, 2 fish balls, 2 pork balls, sliced fish cakes, sliced lettuce and bean sprouts with Kuey Teow.
The queue's usually quite long. But it was ok when we came. phew!

Aji-Tei @ Plaza Singapura
On Saturday, we had dinner at Aji-Tei at Plaza Singapura because sis had to go for a combined choir practice at a church nearby.
We are not sure why we ended up eating here, but we did! We are rushing for time. ;-)
I had the Teriyaki Set.
Not bad lah.
The tofu that comes with the set meals.
Sis had the Japanese Chicken Curry with Omurice.
Aunt had the set meal too. The tonkatsu set.
Our cousin surprised us by ordering the paper hotpot. She never liked it. Kids are growing and their taste seem to change all the time.
The soup is really really sweet. A bit too sweet for me. But it's tasty.
The beef. I think she likes to 'play with food' that's why she ordered it.
Place is not bad for a quick dinner. You get 10% too if you pay using an UOB credit card.
Pricing is moderate.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar @ Boat Quay
While Momo and I were in Disneyland, we kinda miss the food back here. When I saw an email from Camemberu saying 'come lah... go to LadyIronChef's 2nd birthday party', Momo and I said yes! So I sms LadyIronChef to book two spaces. We were looking forward to eating back in Singapore.
We landed at Changi 1:40 AM, went home to take a short nap, and woke up 8:00 AM to go for Bible Study Fellowship. Right after that, we came to Dallas for LIC's party at 12 noon.
Sitting at our table was Camemberu, AromaCookery, Jaime La Nourriture and her friend Fay, Arlyna and Mike. I must thank Fay, Arlyna and Mike for being so patient with the rest of us who were taking photos. I hope we did not get on their nerves. We had great company on our table!
What did we eat? It was a tasting menu that's $23++.
The Salt and Pepper Calamari was first. Very mild tasting and light. But it was not overcooked. I would have liked it a tad saltier :-)
Not sure if it's because my taste buds have been tainted by food in US for 10 days. LOL...
Next was Chicken and Cheese Quesadillas.
The Shredded Pork Tacos was next.
Haha, you could have detected that I am not a great fan of the Tacos and Quesadillas. But I like Baby Back Ribs!
The ribs were done in 3 ways: Fiery, Alabama and Smoked Hickory BBQ.
We were all guessing which is which because even the servers were confused. haha...
But they were all quite delicious. The meat comes off easily from the bones. The fiery version left us wanting more! I could do with some ribs now!
(We ate at Tony Roma's at Anaheim, CA just few days ago and we were quite disappointed with Tony's there, the one in Singapore seems better.)
You can tell that the owner Australian with his so heavy accented Australian English. (He sounds like my classmates! haha) Aussies love Barramundi!
This is Tempura Barramundi with Thai Herbs and Naan Jim. (I have no idea what Naan Jim is, anyone knows?)
This simple looking dish is very tasty! The sauce that goes with it is also nice with all the salad greens on the side.
Next was Dallas Wings.
Got to say sorry, don't try this until they improve on it. In fact when I took a peep around, I could see a few tables with leftover of this.
Next was Corn and Crab Fritters.
Next was the Beef Fajitas. When it came out, this dish looks so delicious. How should I describe it? It is like Mexican rendang with japalenos! We were told this was 120 day old grain fed beef. The accompanying tortillas was nice and warm.
The last dish was Breaded Mushrooms. Looks like something they served earlier? Similar looking but totally different inside.
The cheese is stuffed on the mushroom inside. It's very juicy so be careful when you bite into it! You don't want to dirty your shirt.
All of us were so so full when the party ended. Thanks LIC and Happy 2nd birthday!
Now.... Wondering how to pronounce words like Fajitas, Tortilla etc? Hop over to Camemberu's. Her daughter will teach you, hop over if you're a Canon fan too. Aroma Cookery has also posted up her post, hope over if you're a Sony Alpha fan. LadyIronChef's a Nikon fan, and visit his site if you're a Nikon fan and also to wish him a Happy Birthday. If you are a dessert fan, visit SgDessert for her blog post of the same event.

Yoshimaru Ramen Bar @ Holland Village (Part II)
Today's post is also part of yesterday's meal. You know we can be quite gluttony at times, so we ordered some things to share.
This is the Char Siu platter.
So so lah. We ate this with our noodles.
After all the noodles, 'old cat' was seen staring at the photo of the burgers on the wall. So we thought we shall just order it and we all eat it. If not, we will have no end to the nagging. LOL
The special was the if you order all three burgers, it was cheaper. Around $8 I think.
The Hakata Mini Teriyaki Burger.
Hakata Mini Spicy Burger. I think this is actually quite nice.
This is the Hakata Mini Mentaiko Mayo Burger.
The burgers are quite ok The only problem is that they are really really small!
The total price for yesterday and today's meal with drinks came up to $ 83.07 after the 25% discount.
1 April Update: It seems that the 25% offer was gone since last week. Sis went few days ago, and colleague last weekend. Sis commented that her noodles that her colleagues and her ate was a bit too soggy. Hmm.. but the one my colleague ate was still ok. End of update.

Yoshimaru Ramen Bar @ Holland Village
Colleagues and I ate this nearly two weeks ago, ie 17 March 09. No time to post it up because the next day I was off to Los Angeles.
If you are wondering which shop made way for this new ramen bar, Yi Bao who used to occupy two shoplots is now only occupying one lot now. The remaining is now Yoshimaru Ramen Bar.
There was 5 of us having lunch. 2 of us had the Traditional Hakata Ramen. $11
The other 3 colleagues can't decide what they wanted to add in decided to have the 'everything in the bowl', Moridakusan Ramen. (I think it was $14 plus)
How was it? 2 of us who like pork bone ramen soup found it quite good. The noodles were done just nice. The soup's thick but not overly thick.
1 other had no opinion, but 2 other think it's way too salty. They also said the pork's a bit strong in smell, and wonder if it's the Australian porky that smells so strong. Difficult to please right?
But we all agreed that if you like garlic, you should sprinkle this garlic sprinkle over it. It taste even better!
They were having a trial opening special of 25% off. Not sure if the 25% is still on. The prices mentioned above are before the 25% discount.

Max Brenner @ Esplanade
After paying for dinner at Prego (from yesterday's post), they gave us 4 chocolate balls and we got tempted by what they gave us.
To satisfy the cravings, we thought we will proceed to a chocolate place. We thought of Max Brenner. Here's what we had:
Chocolate Walnut Brownie.
It was all right on one side, nice, moist and warm. The other side, it was kinda dry. Hmmm was it microwaved? Hmmm...
The chocolate souffle with vanilla ice cream.
It was OK. Psst, a nicer one will be at Bakerzin. (really!)
Now, people come to Max Brenner because they want to drink this. This is the dark chocolate Suckao. This is the pouring of the warm milk into the 'suckao container'.
Next you pick up the chocolate chips and put it into the milk.
Then you 'suck' it using the steel straw provided. Feel the warm chocolate flow into your throat.
This is the HugMug. I think this was the Belgium Chocolate drink.
It's a hugmug because you hug it with your palms. See how it will nicely fit in.
(psst, i know what some of you are thinking.. yes, it does look a bit like a WC lol...)

Prego @ Fairmont Singapore
Earlier this month, I met up with a "writer friend" from KL whose blog is called "LifeForBeginners". We have been reading each other's blog and it's the first time we met up. Kenny came with his partner CK, Momo came along too.
It was so interesting meeting with Kenny and CK. As Kenny said it was like old friends who have not met for a long time. LOL...
Dinner was at Prego at Fairmont Singapore. Here's what we had:
The soft warm roll that was served to us. (It's given to all tables)
It looks so beautiful doesn't it?
You can have it with the salsa or have it with olive oil + balsamic vinegar.
For starters, we shared a Cesare. $19 (Caesar Salad).
I was playing around with my camera, so the photos are all in different shades of brightness. So pardon me...
This is Maiele. $34. On the description, there was something like Pork Belly, but looking at this, it must be the leanest meat I have seen. LOL....
CK had Spaghetti Vongole. $26
Kenny had the Nodino Vitella. $45 Roast Veal.
Momo had Anatra Salsa. $36 Roast Duck Salsa.
After paying for our meal, we got each a chocolate ball. Yummy!
Paid using the American Express card that comes with Feed with Raffles card. So with 4 persons we got 25% off.
